Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the tweet, but ESPN is reporting that FIFA officials in the stadium are telling them that the field conditions will be checked an hour before game time and a decision on whether or not to play will be made then.
edit - ESPN just reported that FIFA are now saying that the pitch is operational as of now.
This chart is wrong. For example, if Portugal wins 2-0 and Germany wins 3-0 there's a draw.

well, the Netherlands/Spain game had a pretty heavy rain going on during all match, and the pitch resisted pretty well. I don't think this match it will be delayed

We'll see. There's a difference between heavy rain and standing water a couple feet deep all over the city.
That said, I don't know where the stadium sits. If it's on high ground, it will probably be OK. If it's not, runoff could become problematic. I understand the stadium is pretty far from downtown where most of the people are staying, so we don't really know what it looks like in that particular area.

Nice. That Poland team was something else. Seriously got screwed over by the weather gods.
So today the United States and Germany both only need a tie to advance. Therefore both teams have much to risk by engaging in a game that neither needs to win. If economists ran both teams, then upon the opening whistle both teams would sit down and start playing card games or rock, paper, scissors for 90 minutes, thereby creating a mutually beneficial tie that leaves both teams well rested for the next round. But instead both teams are going to be unwise and actually play.

I had to know. I live only 20 km away from the stadium! The game is a legend around here.
I'd be more worried for the Ghanaian players having 3M in cash lying around at the hotel while they play.
