Luis Suarez the football vampire has bitten another player [Update: BANNED]

Liverpool could decide to sell him and hope for a 4th place or keep him and pray he would stay quiet. They chose to give him another chance, they failed both the league title and the bet on Suarez itself so...

I'm not really sure what your point is here, apart from a dig at Liverpool for missing out on the league title.

Suarez bit a player playing for Liverpool, and was banned accordingly. Liverpool punished him for that, but played him after he served his punishment. He could still play for Uruguay while he was banned for Liverpool. Having the ban mainly apply to Liverpool games isn't remotely consistent with how other players have/will be punished

They could quite easily have done a lengthier ban for just Uruguay games, that would have been appropriate, still punishes Suarez, and consistent with how other players are punished

He got lucky, should have faced a much more strict punishment.

Anyways, I'm glad at least he is out of this WC.

Fucking cunt, I really hope those rumors about landing at Barcelona just end being that, rumors. Also, I hope he loses all his endorsements.

So if Uruguay schedule a bunch of lame friendlies will that negate the international ban or is it for competitive internationals? If I was the manager/head of their FA I would be looking to schedule a bunch of bullshit friendlies just after the world cup so he is available for their next tournament and qualifying campaign.

International Friendlies do not count.

EDIT: After the 4 month ban, he can play in Friendlies. But he still won't be able to play in the upcoming World Cup matches.

They have to punish HIM, not the team. If Liverpool is smart he'll fine the player and sell him, without bitching about the ban. We'll see.

Lugano hasn't changed much at all:

"Luis is a victim. I can't understand how a player like Evra can do this. He is breaking the codes of football."

Evra broke the codes of football for not putting up with racism. Amazing!
This Lugano scum is the biggest cunt in the whole story.

Evra is racially abused? He broke the codes of football
Chiellini is bitten? He's a coward for accusing a fellow footballer

Spoken like a true mafioso. I don't think Suarez should be banned for life, but Lugano surely should.

Wow this is very harsh and sad punishment for just a trolling bite. Suarez has been one of the hottest player this season...

My guess is Blatter and his cronies making all the populist move. This WC has been very good and they want to continue with the feel good feel and hope people may forget about their Qatar atrocities.

How long was Zidane's ban for the headbutt? I think Zidane's stamp in 98 was even more malicious with the intent to maim a fellow pro. But he still went on to win the WC. Suarez may as well elbowed Chiellini to teach him a lesson and still get to play in the final. The gentlemen behind the hearing must think biting is too primeval for us enlightened beings...when will we see elbows headbutts studs tackle get months long ban?

This has to be a really bad attempt at sarcasm, right?

But the punishment is falling mainly on Liverpool than anyone else. The only punishment thats going to get through to Suarez would be a massive fine (like multiples of millions of £), with Uruguay you could at least make the case that Suarez cheated in one of their games, but Liverpool have essentially done nothing here and got punished for it.

It would be like banning all of Juves players during calciopoli for supporting a club that took part in match fixing (to return the dig from before)

These 'X was worse than Y' arguments need to stop. Every professional sport has boundaries on what it considers 'acceptable' violent conduct in a match and what it deems beyond the pale. This is not new. This is not controversial.

No, he hasn't been specifically banned from playing games for Liverpool, he has been banned from playing football outright. That means his punishment will be carried to any club he is at if Liverpool decide to sell him. Liverpool bought him knowing the risks of him doing stuff like this, it is their problem. Barcelona would also know the risks if they decide to buy him and he does something like this again.

Barcelona is full of scummy dickwads, he'll fit right in.

That's a bit like saying that if I go to jail, I should be allowed out on day release to go to work as my employer was not responsible for my crimes.

Ultimately, Suarez has failed Liverpool, not FIFA. It's up to Liverpool how they see fit to punish him further. I don't think a wage fine for the games he'll fail to appear in is out of the question.

Yeah but this ban was supposed to cover administrative activity, which transfers fall under. Then once Fifa realised the error they accidently made they said he could transfer teams. If he did move teams there is nothing stopping Fifa suspending his ban after a certain period.

Confuziz pls. What's worst an elbow to the head or a Suarez bite?
Even in boxing, where you are allowed and encouraged to punch people in the face and body, where people have literally been beaten to death, biting is taken seriously. Tyson had his license revoked for a tear for what he did to Evander Holyfield.
Level of injury is not what is being evaluated, hence why spitting is a major offense, why racist insults are a serious offense.

Exactly... That argument about FIFA screwing Liverpool and therefore should reconsider the ban is pretty ridiculous.

Players don't actually have something to lose, they were free to go where they wanted. Some stayed, some went -even to Inter-.

Now Liverpool can do the same. They can get rid of him, they can fine him, they can bench him for the whole season..
My guess is they won't take action, they'll just let it unfold and maybe sell him if they get some good pounds from Real Madrid (but I think with this stunt he'll have to step up his game/cut his salary to end up in Spain)
