If you were to take any other sport, and base your opinion of any given team over only three games, people would think you were a fool. How is it that the World Cup is somehow different in your mind?

What is my opinion on the three teams? Seriously, point it out to me because I think I've only given my opinion on the quality of football they have shown this tournament. The World Cup is a fast paced tournament where the winner plays just 7 games in their way to the top. A lot of what happens in the WC is sudden, as we have seen with teams like Spain, and a lot of things influence it like sudden injuries or mood changes or bad tactics from one result to the next one.

I'm talking about how those specific teams have performed in the tournament so far and what they have shown so far, and those 3 matches are a good indicator of current form for what's yet to come. They might lose abysmally or still win it all. How is that hard to understand?

Here, let me give you an example: I don't think Costa Rica is a better team than Spain. Costa Rica played better football by miles than what Spain did. Understood? So again, what do qualifiers have to do with anything I just said?

All I can see is netherlands and germany in the finals

Salsa, pls...
France will beat Germany in quarters

Now the tournament starts proper!

Predicting Brazil, Colombia, France, Germany, Netherlands, Costa Rica, Argentina and USA to be last 8.

Good picks, but I think Belgium beats USA.

Its copa america up there on the left

And that sucks. Chile, Colombia and Brazil will canabalize each other when they could beat most of other teams.

I could see the Swiss beating Argentina as the upset of the quarters.

Possible if Messi don`t show up. They already lost Aguero.

I don't think that we get past Belgium, but I don't think it's an absolute shocker if we do. I'd put it at a 70% odds in favor of Belgium scenario.

In this thread: a bunch of people who were watching the South Korea-Belgium game claim I'm salty for the two ridiculous unsportsmanlike moments that happened in the game they apparently didn't watch.

As I already said: Russia fell out of the World Cup entirely through their own shitty performance, especially against South Korea. But watching a team and its fans play dirty on this stage is a damn shame.

Really? Doesn't sound right for an African team.

Incoming plane load of cash.

Oh well still got best 'geria to focus on
I don't know why African teams can't get their shit together. Yes the FA's are poor but the vast majority of players are millionaires and should get their shit together for their country.

Doesn't Nigeria have alot of shit going on with them right now. I remember ESPN even mentioned something political happening at the same time as the Cup.

Probably stressing out

I saw that on a french journalist's Twitter feed. They didn't train today and cancelled a press conference. They had a pretty long meeting with the staff instead.

It really doesn't help the reputation of African football at all.

So far every African team that has bitched about cash has then royally fucked up in their next game.

Algeria, please pay attention.

In this fase of the tournament, any team can beat any team. Getting a red card, a deflected shot that surprises the goalkeeper... one moment can determine a match. Belgium should have beaten Germany in 1994, but were denied a glaring penalty. They should have beaten Brazil in 2002, but were denied a goal (for reasons unknown)...

The thing is, the current Belgian team is the youngest team on the world cup (well, they were, until their 3rd goalkeeper got injured and replaced by a guy a few years older). People are expecting too much from them right away. Origi is 19. Lukaku is 21, Debruyne, Courtois, Hazard... they're 22 or 23.

Its fucking incredible, none of them have a fucking ounce of patriotism. Everyone of them are selfish fucks that can't for one month put their greedy fucking hearts on lock down and play for their countries, its sad.

Hope:

Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, USA

Reality:

Brazil, Uruguay, France, Germany, Netherlands, Greece, Argentina, Belgium

Frustrating because they have good players and a bunch of talented youngsters coming through.

Really should be pushing further.
