He's trolling. It seems like he got a lot of new followers after he joined GB (because he has joined, right Jimmy?) that don't know how he acts on Twitter and takes the bait. His Twitter feed has pretty much been an attempt to bait people into responding to a comment he makes since the beginning
Anyways, is the comment section and forum on GB fucked? I can't post on neither, and the GRID QL has 0 comments so I'm sure it's not just me.
I don't necessarily think it's the soccer part of the trolling that frustrates people, but rather the thought process behind it (i.e. I don't understand it, therefore it's stupid.)

I hope it's trolling, being upset with people for being into the World Cup is silly. You can like the World Cup but not be into soccer on a regular basis. That's not a "fake" interest, it's just being a part of the hype that is the World Cup. Same thing happens with the Olympics. The event is so big it brings people in even if they don't care about the events individually.

It isn't (just) the soccer stuff. He has been trolling a long time on twitter. If he does end up joining Polygon on Monday then I think he is automatically crowned the Troll King.
People being annoying on twitter should not necessarily turn you off them as a person though. Will Smith, Gary Whitta and Ryan are all people I like that I unfollowed at some point.
