By the way, do you know yet what characters and stages are playable? Same as the E3 Demo?
Sorry, I have no idea! Almost in now though.

Super Smash Mothers? Will the Wii U Pro controller be good enough to use for SSM Wii U or is the gamecube controller better?

I thought the Project M guys made a big point about not adding characters that hadn't been playable in Smash before. That's one way they were avoiding Nintendo stepping in.

First and foremost as a game mod, we are still under certain legal obligations and restrictions. To stay in Nintendo's good graces and to avoid attracting Cease & Desist letters from 3rd party companies, we are limiting our choice of new characters to those that Nintendo has already licensed for inclusion in Brawl. In other words, that restricts us to characters that already appear in the game in some way, such as trophies, assists, or stickers. Additionally, to avoid appearing as competition to Smash U/3DS sales in Nintendo's eyes, we do not have any plans to try to "back port" any new Smash 4 characters to Project M.
@CHusson91: The tickets required to play Smash were apparently all distributed within 30 minutes of the show opening.![]()
The way WHF works is that--if you get there early enough to get a ticket![]()
--you get to play two separate two-minute matches (four minutes total) on the 3DS. The roster was the same as the E3 build, but I don't know if any changes were made to gameplay and such. The winners of these 3DS rounds are invited to play two rounds on the Wii U version of the game, which also had its E3 roster.![]()
I'm going to take the first train out to Chiba tomorrow and see if I can get a ticket. I swear, if I don't get to play tomorrow...![]()

They made point to not add any characters that are playable in Smash 4 so I presumed that they wouldn't announce anything until we know Smash 4's final roster.
The line that Project M is drawing - from what I recall - is that any character included must be in the base game in some way. So no new third parties, no post-Brawl characters, and so on. The leaked characters line up with this - Knuckles makes a stage cameo, Isaac and Lyn are obviously Assist Trophies, while Sami and Skull Kid both show up as stickers.
The logic is that, if Nintendo was able to include them in the game itself, there's no real copyright problems (well, beyond the basic fact of the mod itself). And they're avoiding Smash 4 newcomers to avoid stepping on Nintendo's toes as well.
Interesting. Thanks for the clarification!I think they said they were open to adding any character that had appeared in a Smash game before. This includes appearances via trophies and stickers.
That sounds a bit shit, unless the BB demo did the same thing and I just never heard about it. Do you at least get to watch if you miss out on a ticket?@CHusson91: The tickets required to play Smash were apparently all distributed within 30 minutes of the show opening.![]()

I'm honestly excited for all those characters, but Lyn.. Unless she has a really great moveset.

Come on, dude. How could she not?
Someone did mention it earlier, but it's worth reposting. It's so nice to hear someone from Nintendo reconfirm they really do mean 2014. And that it may even come as early as November? Delicious.Probably super late, but did you guys see the interview Gamexplain put up?
Towards the end, he specified that Holiday 2014 means it won't slip into 2015 and they're trying to get it in before Black Friday.
Right?Slash with a sword.
Counter with sword slashes.
Teleport slash with a sword.
Counter.
Counter Final Smash.
So much potential...____=P_____

Right?
She'd be fast, probably shorter-ranged than most of the other sword-users, and really heavy-hitting.
Will the Wii U Pro controller be good enough to use for SSM Wii U

I really think she'd be a Ike clone. Roy's already a Marth clone, and I don't think they'd double up, and Ike just makes more sense since he already has Draw in his gameplan. And it should work really well because she'd be really hard to identify as a clone (as far as identifying clones go, at least) if she's as fast (especially relative to Ike) as I'm thinking of her as. I can't really see her playing much like Marth or Roy at all, really. She's just too different a character, even in the context of FE proper.

this part really got to me for some reason where if she was fast and heavy hitting she would insanely broken
Well, it's all relative. And being fast and heavy-hitting isn't exactly taboo. I mean, look at Fox or Falcon. I think as long as there's clear barriers to performing well with a character, and clear strengths and weaknesses, a combination like 'strong and fast' is hardly risking balance too much. For instance, maybe a bunch of Lyn's attacks could be unsafe, maybe she could be fast-falling, I'm throwing stuff out here, but there's a lot of ways to balance a character and adjust risk/reward without directly impacting their power or speed or whatever.while it would be cool to have her own unique animations i have a feeling shes gonna play a lot like marth and roy (if they are the base for her moves) :T

That's a fair point, but Lyn still doesn't much resemble Marth and Roy. I mean, just as much as Lyn isn't a heavy swordsman, she ain't a fencer either. I was kinda entering this with the assumption that her animations would be changed anyways, ala Wolf.thing about ike is is that a lot of his animations seem more brute forceish it seems lie its going for a lot of raw power while i see roy and marth having more fencing like movements Tbh but hey maybe im just not seeing it like you but i honestly think her base animations outside draw (which i always thought was the same counter animation) would probably be a better fit with marth or roy :t
I think i should play brawl tonight to study the animations![]()
Am I the only one who'd prefer a Gamecube-shaped Pro-Controller instead of the adapter? I'd shell out a lot of money for something like that.

Edit:Also i tried about an hour of project m trying out things here and there and honestly outside of a few things is really just felt like a faster brawl :T maybe im just wayy to casual or something (i did like how the hits have a bit more oomph to them and the hit stun is certainly appreciated) Im gonna keep going back and forth from brawl and project M and maybe my opinions will change somewhere down the line (but honestly after playing brawl for an hour and then M, M just seems like a slightly faster brawl with some added bells and whistles which is still really nice)
You're probably not the only one, but I certainly wouldn't. The whole point of the gamecube controller is to have something wired.Am I the only one who'd prefer a Gamecube-shaped Pro-Controller instead of the adapter? I'd shell out a lot of money for something like that.

Project M does feel overall slower than Melee, imo, but I think that's due to most the Brawl cast members having more survivability. Or it could be just me. Overall, it's basically a whole Smash Bros game on its own, which is a really damn nice thing to have. If they can fix the few issues the game has while adding new characters in the next update, it'd be amazing. Especially if it comes out this year. We'd basically be getting 3 new Smash Bros games this fall!
Honestly i didnt really find melee to be that fast either :/ but again i only briefly touched on the competitive meta before being drawn away from it after certain things happened. Yeah the brawl cast does have a lot of survivability but i do like that aspect of it since i can i play with people whose never played and have them enjoy the game just as much. I do appreciate its existance as it is a really well done mod (i was super impressed with roy the most and mewtwos announcer call made me lol)
My main hopes for the next set of smash games is that they all have a place somewhere![]()
Eh. I think people can pick up Melee just as well as Brawl. There's not that big of a speed difference. I mean, once you start to get even somewhat competitive, there is. But if you're just picking it up and playing it, I don't really think it's big enough to make a difference. I've seen people's parents, hell even my own growing up, play Melee.
I keep wondering myself. What is the biggest advantage of the GameCube controllers over the WiiU Pro?
The Pro is such an amazing piece of ergonomic set ...
There's a good chance that Isaac will be added to Project M along with the other characters who will never be playable in an actual Smash Bros game.
