First time using club Nintendo when I bought Mario kart. Went back through all my old wii games and engaged all the codes. Still worked. Got platinum no problem.

Awesome. Had enough surveys and registrations (mainly from the MK8 promo) that I easily reached platinum and can now hold back some of my club nintendo registrations until next year
It will tell you if you have any coins expiring under your coins and status tab under your account. Otherwise, you can accumulate coins for 2-3 years I think.
And you do not spend coins to get the platinum or gold reward like the other regular rewards if that's what your asking. You get it just for hitting the milestone of 600 coins.

Pretty much the last day to get platinum. I better open up some Nintendo games and do this before I forget. I believe I have 165 coins to go.

They stopped stocking a lot of the rewards they've had since day one (mostly DS goods, wiimote holders, paper fans). They'll probably restock sometime early this next year for it after a lot of people's coins have expired.

Needed 40 points for platinum and Super Mario 3D World wasn't working so I just bought Kirby and got platinum that way. Hopefully when I get why SM3DW wouldn't give me coins sorted out it will count towards next year. I've only gotten platinum the last 2 years and buying a 3DS and Wii U had a lot to do with that so I don't know if I'll get to platinum next year.
Japan gets the best rewards by far. The platinum rewards last year were dog shit. People were talking about a gold Gamecube controller and we ended up getting posters and calendars.

Well the Majora's Mask soundtrack from last year or the year before was pretty cool I thought... Though I missed out on it because I forgot to register the games.
Aw crap, I just realized. I'm going digital on most future games, so I can't hoard coins like I used to; I have 200-some sitting on Club Nintendo alone, and I plan to buy Mario Kart (You get coins for the game you get with the promotion, right?) and Guacamelee soon, and Oddworld & Shantae: Pirate's Curse by summer's end. Add the fact I plan on getting both Smash Bros. 4's, Bayonetta 2, and maybe Hyrule Warriors digitally, and I might end up saving surveys for SM3DW and DKC:TF for a LONG time.
Also, poster hype.
Edit: Just checked; Club Nintendo looks more barren than ever, and that's really saying something. All I can see on there right now are the $300 Greeting Cards, one set of the Epic Yarn patches, and the Animal Crossing posters/bag. I'm hoping they're just clearing inventory and are gonna restock with things people want, but this doesn't look good.

I currently have 240 coins. If I don't hit 300, do I lose all those? My Wii U is cming today and I was planning on using the 160 coins to hit 400, get gold and buy the Pikmin Tote. Unfortunately the Pikmin Tote is unavailable now.

Doubt this will work, but anyone have a 40 point code they don't plan on using? I literally just bought my Wii U yesterday, registered the console and Mario Kart 8, then registered my 3DS and my DSi XL that I never registered, then I registered my games for those systems. Now I'm 40 points away from Platinum and I literally just learned that the deadline is today. If I had known I would have waited until tomorrow and registered tomorrow

Coins last for 2 years. Getting Gold (300 points) will net you a bonus reward next month, little Nintendo trinkets or a free VC game download. The coins expire after 2 years from submission.
