It doesn't matter how many there are. The FACT is, none of those games other than 1-10 are mainline Mega Man games. That is not my view on it, that is a fact.
"mainline" is a bit of an unfair choice of words. The classic series may well have been the first, but seniority alone doesn't make something more important than its peers.

OK so I haven't read the thread in quite some time and I'm not sure on the source, but D1 just linked a bundle for the 3ds version that has Smash4 for 99 bucks.

Has that been confirmed anywhere?

Considering how almost every major 3DS (1st and 3rd) release has had a Special Edition bundle, I think it's a safe bet that it'll happen for Smash.

Nothing confirmed though. Also that pic is wow

Except for the fact that it's not.
You can be internally in denial all you want, but don't outwardly deny that a fact is not a fact.

Edit: Mega Man and Bass could also be considered part of the mainline series, but it's more of a light spin-off, like New Super Luigi U or Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. I'm pretty sure it's officially classified as a spin off. There's also Mega Man vs. Street Fighter, which is also a light spinoff.

He's Castlevania's Classic Mega Man, and evidently that is enough for a third party character.
No, classic Mega Man is always the main character of the classic Mega Man series, whereas Simon is only the main character of the games where he's the main character. He may be the most well known Castlevania character, but he doesn't have a series to his own, similarly to Marth or Ness. Simon is not comparable to classic Mega Man, or any of the other third parties.

Also, on the whole Simon Belmont debate: If you only count the Solid games (which is what most people do), (Solid) Snake only starred in 1 of the 3 MGS games released at that time. Just thought I'd point that one out.

"Pic of the day. Super Smash Bros for 3DS and WiiU now has a 'Stock Team' mode. Assign a character to each of your stocks! Completely original idea."

I feel like I'm going to buy it too. I do not need a new 3DS at all...But I will justify a reason for the purchase. No way a 3DS XL bundle goes for $100 though right? Seems WAY too inexpensive

I'm expecting there to be a bundle too which is why I haven't preordered yet either, I was more or less wondering about the image and just kind of jumped when I saw it on my feed. Looking closely this image was done in paint or something because jesus my eyes.

Doubt that's legit. They don't make OG 3DS anymore I think, and a 100$bunle that brings a 32GB SD card AND the game? Too good to be true.

But that aside, there will be a bundle for sure.

Does anybody else not even check miiverse and just wait for the picture to get posted here? You could all be playing a massive prank on me and the picture was actually posted hours ago and I would never know it...

I have the actual Smash site on another tab. Nothing was added, yet.

You're not making much of a coherent argument that the X games are not "mainline" Mega Man games other than a generic: "You're wrong and I'm right, so there!". Your personal opinion isn't as much of persuasive argument that you think it is. Creating an arbitrary definition about what is or is not a "mainline" Megaman game is silly. Categories are only useful to discussion if other people generally agree with you on their use. If you find yourself in an argument with other people over definitions, than you have already lost.

In any event, since when did a character have to be the sole representative of their series to be considered for Smash Bros.? Marth and Ike have only been in a minority of the games in the Fire Emblem series, for example. Since the series doesn't have a consistent world, let alone cast, it makes sense for them to choose the most iconic and or popular characters from the series to represent it.
