Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

I swear, between finally getting approved here..and on Bungie DestinyGaf, my friend requests have been on fire.
Lookin fwd to meeting up with new shooters and kicking some ass online.
Bring on Bungie Day, Bring on the Beta ... Any moon wizards around here that can fast fwd time? I need to play already

Just over 2 weeks to go for the Beta! What's everyone playing in the meantime?

Surprisingly, Metroid Prime Hunters on the DS. Well, I'm playing it on my 3DS XL which is too damn big to hold and make use of the stylus controls at the same time. I've been playing 1v1 battle and 2v2 capture the ocolith against 3 stars and it gets pretty hectic, especially with damage buffed to medium to speed up the kill times. The AI has some ridiculous aim something fierce though, and it gets annoying how they just run around with missiles charged up. Still a fun and surprisingly skillful game, especially sniping. Wish Nintendo would make another effort in this direction.

My body is ready for the beta though. Well, I've got a ton of boring IRL things to do before that, so hopefully I'll have it out of the way in time for the beta.

I want to pick up a nicer TV too. I played the beta on a Sceptre 32" i think, but now all I'll have is my old 18.5" Sanyo. It was good while it lasted, but the Sceptre's colors were way better. In fact, Destiny looks really washed out and muddy on the Sanyo.

Found a few spare bucks and picked up Borderlands 2(this one is really scratching my destiny itch) and payday 2 thanks to the steam summer sale and got enough bing rewards credits to get a month gold and get max: the curse of brotherhood on GwG

Demon's Souls (a bit LTTP)

Fantastic choice. Enjoying yourself, I hope.

Well damn, can't get much more forgiven than that.

I'm in an indie mood today and bought Valiant Hearts: The Great War, Transistor and Child of Light and plan on playing them back to back. I don't know in what order though... Any advice?

I'm working through Transistor and Child of Light. Both are good and I appreciate them for what they are but they don't have their hooks in me.
Valiant Hearts sucked me in immediately and I'm getting close to finishing it.
Can't go wrong with whichever you pick first though...

Probably been asked a million times, but progress in Beta doesn't carry over does it?

Not sure I'm willing to have all my progress wiped again, once in the alpha was bad enough.

I personally haven't seen any word on whether it will or will not, but I wouldn't count on it. At most I'd expect some neat bonus if you were in the beta.

I want the beta now. Seemingly nothing else to play :( I've pretty much taken everything out of Watch_Dogs that I can or want to do. Why so long?!

I've been having a hard time finding the desire to continue playing Watch Dogs. Only early in the second act, though, so maybe it'll click eventually?
I'm just over half way myself, gameplay is ok even in the story but man it's the writing that bums me out.

Xbox is late July, any dates yet?

21st most likely. there was a thread a while ago that said the playstation beta would be ahead of the xbox beta by 4 days. 21st would fit that and still be "late july".

Bungie did a similar thing with Halo Reach. The beta was opened on Thursday, April 28th for people with friends and family codes, but it didn't open to everyone else until the following Monday on May 3rd.

Hope we get goodies for being in the Alpha and Beta. I remember rocking and awesome flaming skin for my weapons from the Gears 3 beta.

I only own Transistor out of those 3. It's not a very long game; NG is about 7-10 hours. I really love it, it's my GOTY so far. Destiny will probably take that spot, though. I heard Child of Light is around 15 hours? I'd save Valiant Hearts for last. I heard the story is good and is about WW1, so it might be a bit... somber? I'm not sure.

Between here, other forums, and just people in person, I'm not really sure why people ask if beta-progress carries over to launch then act surprised and upset when they find out it doesn't. Maybe if this was the first beta you ever got into I suppose I can understand that, but most people on GAF for example I'd imagine are veteran gamers.

Anyways, I'll definitely play the beta a bit just to look for any of the improvements and help them test stability I guess. But I'll try to limit myself as much as possible, though I miss the game and need it now!

Just caught up with The Wolf Among Us. Episode 5 will probably be released in a week or two so I'll probably finish that before playing destiny beta. Then walking dead season 2 should also have episode 4 released so I'll probably binge through that as soon as the episode is released.

Besides that I might start playing Wonderful 101 or Wasteland 2. Depending how much the former grabs my attention.

At least you won't be moving across the continental US for most of the beta. :P
At least you won't be going to a wedding(literally the worst thing you can drag someone to) 2 days after the game comes out for a whole week knowing everyone else will find all the secrets and potentially spoil the game for you. The only good thing about it is I get to see family. Seriously sucks

Sorry if this is already common knowledge, but does anyone know if crouch walking or standing still makes you not appear on enemy radar in PvP?

IME, the radar works very similar to the ones from the Halo games, so yes. Really, the only difference I noticed was that enemies are represented as "bars" instead of precise dots. It shows their elevation and relative position instead of actual position. I'm not sure if the allied radar shows elevation, but it shows actual position like it did in Halo.

I've been to a wedding. Would prefer that over 40 hours of driving I'm gonna have to do. It's gonna take me a week to drive across the US!

Yeah, I figured it was similar to Halo. I didn't notice the elevation variation. I thought that the direction shown on radar was either close by or far, but not whether they were above or below you. I'll have to pay more attention in the beta. Thx.

I used to live in Ocean City. :l I'd give anything to be able to move back out there. Probably will once I get my degree finished and what have you.
