It's great to see most teams fought really hard, well except maybe Uruguay, the rest of the matches were really tense and exciting.

HEY GUYS.

HEY GUYS.

Never seen the guy play prior to the World Cup, but the ESPN commentators kept muttering the mantra of "he only needs one chance" every time he came on.

We will. Klinsmann was the biggest investment, and it's been paying off. I'm not sure if he's the ultimate coach for this team though. I think his game plans were too conservative. I think we were able to pressure opposing defenses very well when we played more forward. Of course, I understand the need to defend the counter, especially with our lack of individual talent. Ugh...frustrating but fun. US soccer gets better with each world cup. That's the most I can hope for. PEACE.

Im not sure we ever saw his game plan. Josie going down in the first 10 minutes of the WC changed everything.

wow what a game. The commentator I was listening to mentioned the number of saves Howard made was the most in 50 years at the world cup and that was before the end of the game. Does anyone have more information on this?

Found it; 16 saves - new world cup record.

Oh well back to REAL sports like NBA since Free Agency is right around the corner.

We'd be on top of the soccer world if we cared.

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?
See what happened Team USA? You make Tim Howard sad. Dude is truly and utterly heartbroken.

Stop being salty and/or sarcastic. From a fellow American (presumably), thanks.

If I keep watching I bet the ball will go in eventually... I mean... Its harder to do what he did!

No it's not. That was a tough finish with the keeper taking away his angle almost entirely. It would have taken an absolutely perfect touch to keep it down and still clear the keeper.

Well I am European so I am not optimistic about our chances in Friday. I feel like we will lose against the French if Löw doesn't fix the defense somewhat. Seriously make Lahm a FB.

One thing I'm wondering is what the hell happened to the U.S. passing. Everyone for the most part was shit, and Bradley was particularly atrocious. The thing that got me was that they made silly passes when they weren't even pressured. Yedlin does look promising though. Man was he a terror today. I like the progress the U.S. has made since I have been watching them. The future looks good.

Argentina wanted the US, Belgium will park the bus like all Euro teams against Argentina and wait to counter..

Belgium don't park the bus. They have mandated an attacking gameplay for all their teams in club and underage. They won't park the bus, they will believe that can defeat Argentina in open play, and I won't put it passed them they way they both played today.

He could have formulated this nicer, but at the core he's not necessarily wrong. You guys had very few real chances against Germany in the last Group match and only woke up during Extra Time this match after Belgium already scored against you.

Oh well, same could be said for just about all teams in the Round of 16 so far. All games were real late bloomers. Better luck next time!

The thing is, your asking him to play in a way that he's not used to playing. He isn't a creative midfielder nor an offensive minded one either. Completely misused by Klinsman me thinks.

He was forced to be more of a focal point after Jozy went down. He is a defensive midfielder and sometimes box to box.

Hail to the KING baby
As a naturalized American definitely watching still:
-France, my home country.
-Cheering for Argentina out of bitterness. (Also have a cool 2006 Messi jersey from back when he had awesome hair. Will be wearing that one.)
-Ticos of course. Concabros and the only remote underdog left in the tournament.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.

Right. If you told me before the WC Altidore would play 20 minutes and Bradley would mostly be ineffective I would guess the US would maybe get a point.

My allegiance has been switched to Colombia now that Freedom has been slain.

Most entertaining team, colourful kit, fit girls in the crowd. Go Colombia.

Good game Team USA, you played well. Two things I learned: Howard is American Jesus and Jurgen angry is funny. Though I wish the results were different, still greatest cup yet. Now, let's go Costa Rica!

If you'll excuse me need to go cry until I'm physically dehydrated.

You say that like the US passing was good at some point during this tournament. It was awful every single match.

I'd love Costa Rica and Colombia to take it, with the USA out. Costa Rica first. Germany I kind of like because of the Arsenal contingent, but otherwise eh. Fuck Brazil.

As long as the US refuses to acknowledge that football (soccer in your terms) is the biggest sport there is you will not reach anything but the 1/8 rounds.

The US can have such a bright future in terms of football if they just invest, invest and invest. It can take centuries but eventually the talent pool will open up and wonderful things can happen.
