I have no idea who's going to win this tournament.

– France have looked decent, but got held goalless by Ecuador and haven't faced serious threat as of yet, although they have some great players on their squad.

– Germany are always contenders, but got held to a draw by Ghana and could only knock over Algeria in extra time.

– Brazil couldn't score against Cameroon and only squeaked past a strong Chile side on penalties, so they are very much beatable. Take away Neymar and are they really that scary?

– Colombia has won every game so far and looked mighty impressive after sending Uruguay packing in the last match, but Brazil is by far the biggest obstacle they've had to face and it could turn out to be too much of an ask for their young squad.

– Netherlands crushed the reigning champions 5-bloody-1 and looked the strongest in the group stages, but then only just squeaked past Mexico thanks to a very late goal and then a penalty in the final minute.

– Costa Rica knocked off three former champions and topped a group that no one gave them a chance to escape from. But then they had to rely on penalties to get past Greece after having far less shots on target than their opponents during normal play.

– Messi +10 almost couldn't score against Iran until Messi Messied and only just squeaked past Switzerland in extra time, again because of Messi.

– Belgium clearly have a good side with talented players and will probably benefit from playing against Romero instead of Tim Howard, but do they have enough quality to go all the way?

I really can't call it. I would love to see Colombia get through, because I think they've been better than Brazil on the whole, but it's still going to be a massive ask for Colombia to beat Brazil at home.

Argentina will probably get through with another relaitively unconvincing performance. The Netherlands are fortunate not to have lost to Mexico but they are probably the most dangerous looking of all the remaining teams. I think whoever wins out of France and Germany will be a serious contender as well.

Who knows?

People sure are writing off the Belgians. You think they only can only win by parking the bus? Argentina has been woeful apart from Messi. I think it'll be a really close game. Or if Belgians can finish it'll be a rout like Germany-Argentina four years ago.

Anyone that knows anything about football knows that belgium are the favourites in this match. they're much more comfortable on the ball and are much more organized in the back. they'll give the weak Argentinian defense a lot to deal with. expect 60 % ish possession to be with the belgians.

All it takes is for Hazard or De Bruyne to be on a good day and they could win, this new fad of playing CB's as full backs might hurt them though

They have a great chance of making it to the semifinals, IMO (at least better than Costa Rica's

) I liked seeing Belgium on the offensive yesterday, and I'm sure if they're as aggressive against Argentina we could see them scoring early in the game and making it difficult for Messi and friends to equalize. I'll be cheering for Belgium for sure.

My predictions:

Colombia
Germany
Costa Rica
Belgium

I get so pissed every time i see lahm playing midfield. LIKE WTF WHY.

I agree. If Deschamps isn't a complete moron, he will start with Valbuena Griezmann and Benzema up front to cause havoc in the rather slow german defense. If he starts Giroud, he should be fired on the spot.

Hf seeing him there again next game.
"Ich habe meine Entscheidungen getroffen - auch was die Rolle von Philipp Lahm betrifft. Und dazu stehe ich bis zum Schluss", stellte der 54-Jährige in der Wochenzeitung "Die Zeit" klar.

"I have made my decisions - also about the role of Phillip Lahm.
And im standing by that till the end."

So tired of this guy, he is just incapable.
Every tournament he comes up with new dumb shit.

Because Netherlands is destined to beat Belgium in the semis and Germany in the final, after which Van Gaal's golden penis will be cut off and placed at the Dutch parliament as our own Washington monument.

Believe.
lol! I believe
that if Germany somehow reaches the final, they'll win ;)
!

I hope the final would be Colombia v Belgium with Costa Rica taking 3rd place.

Jesus Christ, Belgium is going to explode if we make it to the finals. As much as I'm rooting for our Red Devils, I don't see 'em making it past the Netherlands, and we're going to need some divine intervention if we want to vanquish Messi.

Colombia beating Brazil would be nice, too, but once again, I can't see it happening. France vs Germany can go either way.

As for Costa Rica - Holland, I'm morally obliged to root for my northern neighbours (barring Robben flopping to the ground again). They should be able to beat Costa Rica, but it'll be an interesting match.

What I want to see: Colombia, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium
What we probably will see: Brazil, Germany, Netherlands, Argentina

So which league is as good as the world cup?
I love Champions league, but it's not the same...

Libertadores is many times better than the UEFA league, but its only available on Fox Sports en Espanol in the US. Id recommend watching the semis and final which are in a few weeks to see if its your cup of tea.

The CONCACAF Champions League has a much lower level of play, but a fair share of crazy.
Want to see your favorite MLS team go to Costa Rica, lead by 2-0.....and then lose by 5-2 in the last 20 minutes? Yeah, that happens every week. As a bonus, you can actually see the games in person.

Also, the 2015 Copa America is next year, which is always a blast. All your favorite world cup teams with none of the boring bus parking thats become so common across the atlantic? Yes please.

Gold Cup is also next summer, but honestly its not great until the semis. Watching Jamaica play Guatemala at 2pm in Miami during the summer is not attractive.

Anoregon

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Belgium-Argentina is probably the match I'm most looking forward to in the quarters, just because I have no idea what to expect out of it. Brazil and Netherlands will probably win, and I'm rooting for Germany over France but wouldn't be surprised if it went the other way.

But the Belgium-Argentina game I just have no idea. You would think smart money is on Argentina, but Belgium got dat dark horse status.

You can't possibly recommend Libertadores at the pathetic level south american football is at.
