Animal Crossing: City Folk Announced

I was going to sell my Wii if they didnt announce Animal Crossing Wii.. but they did, and it looked so bad I think im going to sell it anyway. Looked like the DS game upscaled and such tiny online differences, Nintendo are taking the piss out of gamers.

I love Animal Crossing but seriously that looked almost identical to the game I've bought twice already. I'm not sure I can justify a third time.

They are going to have to annouce something more than a microphone for it, to get me interested.

I don't give a shit about AC, where the fuck was Pikmin?

Wii Speak is neat, finally a solution to chat. The city thing is nice. Don't really care for the scrolling view. :/

But OMFG holidays are back! Yeesssss!

What the fuck? Is this a joke post? Do you remember how bad the first AC looked? It was an N64 title! Get the fuck out if you expect any AC game to push anything graphically. :lol

i should have made the bet for your PIKMIN claims Kagari, since that indiscretion is worse. Since now what we're left with is this factually horrible crap.

But you survive, I am a man of my word Kagari.

Honestly, I don't know what to make of AC. It's like the DS version with holidays and a fleshed out hra and voice chat. Maybe I'm forgetting other things, but I already have this game on DS.

Great news. I was hoping it wouldn't be the 'big' game of the show, but it was. Still, I'm excited about it!

And voice chat, finally...that's awesome news.

I don't know, Nintendo is screwing around with non-games atm.

didin't you bet your account with the Pikmin thing? hmmm, I thought so.

Could you guve us a clue of WHERE IS IT!!

Oh, and were you serious about the $20 Wii MotionPlus stuff?

thx!

Ugh, this game looks like such a rehash of the DS game. I don't see the online adding that much longevity to the game beyond auctions being another store to shop from, and to see that the graphics are almost identical to the N64 version couldn't be more disappointing.

The one thing missing that they need to bring back is the idea of acres to make town navigation more logical.

Wow. I really expected more from the conference. Why do they plan on releasing only one core game for the holiday? Sense it does not make. Sorry guys. At least AC was shown with the subtitle I mentioned :/

KEY INFORMATION
If life were an endless vacation, what would you do? Go fishing, collect shells or watch
fireworks with friends? Build a snowman, exchange presents with family or decorate
your house for the holidays? Take a trip to the city, go on a shopping spree or visit
friends from all over the globe? In Animal Crossing: City Folk, life moves at a relaxed
pace, but the world brims with endless possibilities.
• There’s always something new to do. In the living, breathing world of Animal
Crossing: City Folk, days and seasons pass in real time, so there’s always
something to discover. Catch fireflies in the summer, go trick-or-treating on
Halloween or hunt for eggs on Bunny Day. If you’re in the mood for something a
little faster paced, take a bus to a new urban city area that’s unique to Animal
Crossing: City Folk. There you can catch a show at the theater or check out the
sales at Gracie’s boutique. But if you don’t show your face back home for too
long, your neighbors will miss you.
• Up to four people from your household can live and work together to build the
perfect town. Design clothes and patterns, write letters and post messages on the
bulletin board for each other, or invite up to three friends to visit your town using
Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. With the new WiiSpeak microphone, it’s like you’re
all in the same room. The microphone sits atop the sensor bar and picks up the
conversation of everyone in the room to encourage a more inclusive experience.
• Get to know your neighbors. The heart of Animal Crossing: City Folk is building
relationships with the animals in your town as well as with other players. Befriend
your animal neighbors by exchanging letters, gifts and favors. Animals can also
move from town to town, bringing their memories and stories from their old
towns with them. And since animals are notoriously loose-lipped, they spill all the
juicy details.

KEY INFORMATION (CONTINUED)
• Express your personal style. Customize your town, your house and yourself by
collecting bugs, fish, fossils, art, furniture, clothes and accessories. You can also
go to the salon in the city to change your hairstyle and get a Mii™ makeover. Plus,
if you design clothes in the tailor’s shop, animals will wear them and maybe even
bring them to other towns.

you were right about the game that didn't matter

you were wrong about the game that mattered

thanks for creating false hope :p

I love love LOVED the previous AC games but graphically this literally looks identical to the GameCube AC, which kills a lot of my enthusiasm. At least they could have cleaned up the detail on the furniture and other items.

It exists. But why they didn't show it concerns me...

Very disappointingly incremental, I think. The city thing is a huge wasted opportunity..I expected that to be a common hub for many players.

Although I'm glad they clarified that people can visit towns over the net. 4 people in any given town at once?

it was just the same ds game with chat voice.

NOT impresed

Uh, yeah, the DS offered Mii integration, voice chat, a city to visit, etc. Give me a break!

And, despite what all the whiners here are saying, it DOES look better than the GC version. Not worlds better, but I'm not sure what people were expecting. Between the N64/GC and DS versions, the series has developed a certain aesthetic that Nintendo isn't going to mess with anytime soon.

I for one think it looks great and I'm eagerly awaiting getting my grubby little paws on it later this year.

All that said, I hope more is mentioned soon about the game's connectivity abilities. I liked seeing the four players wander around town together (fishing, etc.), but was that due to friend codes or a more open system like that used in Mario Kart Wii?

Oh, and considering Kagari nailed the name, I'm guessing Pikmin 3 will be shown in some form at e3. It was clear that today's press conference was aimed at the mainstream (yet again) and aimed at bolstering 3rd party support. Showing Pikmin here wouldn't have made sense, I think. Later this week...

I guess the textures look sharper?

I feel like I've played this game twice before and that this one doesn't really offer anything new over Wild World, other than Mii heads and the microphone. And visually... could they do SOMETHING?

Hrm, I wonder how big they'll make the world since the graphics aren't very taxing.

Also grafic whores get the fuck out.

Edit- Wait Copper and Booker are still British guards and not US cops? :/

Wonder if this will include Animal Island and DS integrations.

Given how this game looks and the content it appearently has, it should be a WiiWare downloadable game. I don't feel like changing discs out to play Animal Crossing for half an hour each day. Just let me download it and have it as a channel.

I told you guys it would look similar to the GCN one.
