Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

I just realized the classes' melees are symbols of Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Titan's punch is a closed-fist rock.

Warlock's blast is an opened-palm paper.

Hunter's knife stab is scissors.

Paper is always best because only a fool plays rock.

In Alpha the commendations and marks for factions were shared across the characters as well... Seems like there will certainly be support for serial alt-players...
This is awesome news. Going to put so many more hours into this game because of this design choice. The classes play different enough that I won't mind taking all of them through the content.

Does anyone know what this symbol represents?

It appears when you level up but it's also present on this Titan's chest plate...

...which suggests it could be a faction or Vanguard symbol. Any clues?

Which makes Scissors the best because Scissors beats Paper. #Goldengunneddown

Question: Do I get beta access if I preorder Destiny digitally on PS4?

I asked a similar question about the pre-order a few post back and this was the response.

how is people who pre-ordered on PSN getting access to the beta??? Are they emailed codes or something after pre-order??? will there be a betadownload for pre-order only users???

If you preordered for digital downloads, you still get the beta, it will be unlocked for you to download automatically.

From the ps community forums:

Redeem Codes
If you pre-order Destiny via the PlayStation Store: You will receive a direct link to the Beta on 7/17/14 via email, XMB message (PS3) or a PS4 system notification. No beta code is required as your PlayStation Store pre-order will provide you access to download the beta when it's available.

So is it true that glimmer is shared across all your characters? I am really struggling with choosing a main class and would love if some things were shared across characters.
yup, glimmer is account wide, so it is shared between all your characters, and so is your vault. what ever you drop in the vault, your other members can use too.

I don't know if y'all have heard all this info already, but it seems that the Exotic weaponry have some EXTREME modifications, above other lower-rarity weapons.

This info's in the link but here's the examples that were picked out:

Red Death, Pulse Rifle
- "This potent pulse rifle offers a bevy of perks to your character that trigger more frequently during competitive multiplayer. In addition to inflicting some serious hurt on any foe that gets in its way, it shines strongest after getting some upgrades, including the invaluable ability to regenerate health at an increased rate."

Closing Time, Sniper Rifle
- "The perfect weapon for the camper on your team, this exotic sniper rifle camouflages your entire body whenever you are in zoomed view. Plus, shoot an ammo pick-up from a concealed location and the ordnance goes straight into your bags."

Gjallarhorn, Rocket Launcher
- "An ideal weapon for a titan specializing in zone control. The launcher shoots out rockets, and secondary sentries deploy at the site of impact to devastate foes that pass nearby."

----------

HOLY FUCK! I had no idea that there were weapons with these sorts of abilities! I usually hate Sniping, but I'll be damned if that Closing Time Sniper Rifle doesn't have one of the best abilities I've ever read. No wonder DeeJ/Bungie don't want weapon trading.

This is the kind of things I like to see in exotic weapons. I'd like to see Bungie going wild with exotic gear.

As for weapon trading, I still think they'll patch after release. But if not, eh, not a big deal for me.

OH WOW. So they got unique abilities like the weapons from diablo and borderlands, this will be VERY interesting. Damn, they even look unique too.

Funny you should say that...

You'd think he'd have gone for the original, but I guess not :)

I actually like it with a z better. Besides it matches my PSN name (which since I got my ps3 at launch, I probably could've gotten the original)

I forgot to post my thanks to this thread when it was initially made. I was super-skeptical about Destiny, and I heard some good things about the Alpha. However, when I started reading everyone's response in here, I got super-excited and immediately preordered it off PSN.

Cannot wait to play it! Thanks again, everyone.

i remember reading about those weapons a long while ago and instantly dismissing the pvp. having played it, i at least have some context and know where Bungie is going with it now. i liked the pvp and im not expecting it to be halo (which im pretty burnt out on), but even for end-game tier weapons they have me concerned. camo sniping will always be annoying and so is fighting somebody with more health than you. i actually liked that the alpha didnt have any camo ability for players and wish it would stay that way, but oh well. i hope some of them get tested in the beta

I mentioned this briefly in a post a few pages back, but does anyone think the Bungie Pro subscription will return in some form with Destiny? It primarily served as a way to increase your storage limits for saved films and saved film rendering minutes and such back in the Halo:Reach days, but I'm expecting it to return with Destiny. It obviously won't be used as a subscription to play the game, but perhaps it could be used for allowing additional character slots, exclusive dyes, character creator options, ship options, unlocking Tiger-Man, or other non-gameplay affecting bonuses.

Next we will have hats....

Already sounds much more reasonable than Halo Reach's camo loadout (which, more often than not, was picked specifically for use with a Sniper Rifle).

I don't want this to be a hyper-competitive even-steven fps. I want this to be a pull out your bigger dick/gun game.

Ideally they would find ways to appease both audiences. Separating the serious PvP into "leagues" that only allow max level characters and give you a selection of standardized, restricted gear would be a good way to accomplish that.

Give me that sniper Jeebus

I already joined DestinyGAF but today noticed I was using the wrong bungie acccount. I r-linked my accounts to the correct one but now I need to be accepted again.

Bungie: JetBlackPanda
PSN Jet_Black_Panda

thanks guys.

Yes, sorry about that. Just submitted a request to join at the URL provided.

Oh yeah, I also applied to DestinyGAF through that URL.

Bungie ID and PSN are both OraynBro if people want to start adding me.

Accepeted - Welcome (in some cases back :P) to DestinyGAF.

That sniper rifle sounds beast but so overpowered at the same time. Depending on the level of camo offered, i could see this (in the right hands of skilled players) being overpowered to the point that it breaks crucible balance entirely.
