I remember when Yeezus came out and everyone was so hyped, then they realized it was shit.

I think I've listened to it at least 10 times since last week. So good.

it's mostly because of your rhetoric. you seem to look down on anyone who likes ye or drake.

I'm not though, and I wasnt. My opinion is not directed at fans but actually a voice in unison with the boo crowd. So I'm identifying with them but not trying to pass judgement on fans, if that makes sense.

I like Pharrell Williams, very, very much and rate him higher than both combined if you want to take easy shots at me in return lol I'm not ashamed of what I like and it doesnt matter who dislikes him(it). You guys are getting very defensive for something that shouldn't ever be more than a little blurb on your character sheet.

1) despite your efforts, this thread is not about you
2) let's pretend it is: you said (numerous times) you think kanye is awful. okay? what have you listened to by him (his albums can widely differ)? are you commenting on his production or lyricism or what?
you basically dropped your opinion with nothing specific about it, and got dismissive gif responses that it deserved. there's nothing really mind boggling about that.
1) neither is it a thread to defend Kanye as you so desperately want it to be. And you guys made it about my opinion, not me.
2) let's not. I'm not going to post a bullet pointed list of reasons why I dislike an artist's music to appease you, nor will I justify an opinion to you. The scope of the thread is not lets argue about the quality of Kanye's music. It's about hey look some people boo'd Kanye, at an event + some disrespect by referring to him as KK's husband - thats the topic - and if you want to have a discussion about the merit of Kanye's music, sure, but do it without me.

EDIT: Can we please stop this now?

"Kanye West sucks."
" Why do you feel that way?"
"This isn't about how I feel."

If this is how every debate went nothing would ever be done and nobody would learn anything. It's important that people actually discuss matters, rather than just brush it off. If you have no opinions to give on Kanye West other than "I don't like him" than you weren't really contributing to the thread either, just interjecting your own personal opinion into a discussion that didn't necessarily warrant it. That's fine. Just don't try changing the subject when people tell you theirs.

These people are complete non-issues to me. I will provide my view.

I have zero investment in this on either side and am now listening to Yeezus for the first time.

What Drake album should I listen to?

The fucking topic is people booing Kanye and wanting Drake instead.

is it now?

It's about time people realize Kanye is awful

Well he is

it's literally impossible to change my opinion

I'm giving my opinion

Boy you guys sure are hostile towards my opinion

My opinion is not directed at fans

And you guys made it about my opinion, not me.

oh

I'll admit I misspoke here 'It's about time people realize Kanye is awful' but jesus christ, get that bug out your ass brah.

The streets are extended gutters and the gutters are full of blood and when the drains finally scab over, all the vermin will drown.

The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"

... and I'll whisper "no."

Hmmm, this album made it seem he is mentally disturbed. Too bothered by what other people think of him, so he can't really think about anything else in life or talk about it, yet in the process he seems to stir some shit so I guess he brings it on himself? Then again maybe it's just a big intentional mess in the scene to spin drama that helps get attention and drive sales. I don't know, but compared to stuff I like it's just so starkly self-centered and high school drama-esque.

The music is fairly interesting, although rather here-and-there, never really settling into any of the good ideas it has, which may be a good picture of him as he was making it. He either has great musical knowledge or works with people who do and is good at synthesizing styles. If he were to find some peace he could probably make something really beautiful. Something about the simplicity of structure and intimate nature makes it feel really old school, even though the actual construction of the simple structures has all sorts of newer production elements going into it. It's an interesting sound, but doesn't transcend the purpose of personal statement. Since I don't know him, the value of that is rather low.

Damn gotta hand it to my boy Drizzy. Started from the bottom in Canada and now people are screaming his name at Kanye concerts across the globe.

The article forgets to mention the reason why Kanye performed there for a second night. He replaced Drake who cancelled at the last minute, so that's probably why people were shouting for Drake.

The article forgets that the people shouting for drake (if it even really happened) were a small minority of the thousands of people watching Kanye.

Trophies, We Made it, Draft Day, 0 to 100>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Yeezus
I agree. People shit on Drake too much too. Yeezus was a garbage album. Certainly one of his best production wise, lyrically just awful. Especially disappointing considering how great MBDTF was.

I was going to post an opinion but I realize there are too many fanboys and girls riding and/or hating these artists and posting useless gifs, preventing any meaningful discussion.

This topic is equivalent to console warrior bullshit. Please stop riding these artists against any criticism whatsoever; they aren't paying you and it's not that serious.

If he sang his best Album, 808. They will never ask for Drake.

Kayne should just a tour of all of his commercially popular collab songs.. ET, knock you down, all of the lights ect.

I mean all those songs have shitty lyrics, but average person likes them because of the catchy beat and chorus

Exactly.

The articles are highly sensationalised and exaggerated and anyone who went to his performances at wireless (me) would say the same thing. They are taking a minority of people's behaviour and generalising it to the entire crowd, although I cannot speak for the Saturday performance where he replaced drake since I wasn't there but the articles I've read about the other two wireless performances are just the media twisting what happened and are complete trash,

His setlist at wireless was all of his hits, everyone around me knew all the words.

Both Drake and Kanye are dope, and I'm pretty sure he gets booed for his opinions/rants than for his music. That being said, the videos I saw of this concert showed the crowd going h.a.m. and no sign of booing at all.

Articles like this really confirm Kanye's views on the press...but then again, isn't this some UK tabloid trash? So maybe it's not worth dwelling on.

Ultimately the problem is that people can't relate to Kanye's childish tirades. The Nike thing is done yet he's still complaining about it. All his tirades about multi million/billion dollar bullshit that doesn't matter. And if it mattered so much, you would think he'd say fuck it and prove himself with a smaller brand instead of crying about Louis Vutton or whatever the fuck it's called not hiring him. Who gives a shit, why put them on a pedestal.

I remember when Yeezus came out and everyone was so hyped, then they realized it was shit.

That was always going to happen with his first post-Dark Fantasy solo album. People predicted the exact reaction years in advance.

Also, Yeezus is great.

Kanye West had one good album. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Let the truth set you free.

Yes, but this article is being linked all over the internet on reddit and facebook and filter people's perceptions based on sensationalist bullshit that greatly distorts the facts. The crowd for Kanye's performance at wireless was humongous. He played I think three Drake tracks (Trophies, We made it, All me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qa4Jd4_1tUA) which was a huge fanservice to the crowd. Then he went on with his normal setlist and went through a lot of good tracks. Then he went on a ~10 minute rant in which a portion of people left and there was intermittent booing from parts of the crowd. Then he carried on back to the music. He was on from ~9pm to 10:30.

Great:
1. My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
2. The College Drop Out

Good:
3. Late Registration
4. Graduation
5. 808s

Decent:
7. Watch the Throne
8. Yeezus

Yeah, John Lennon just beat his wife and called her a chink back stage. Certainly a lesser crime compared to Kim Kardashian's husband. In 20 years, all that will matter is Kanye's musical talents. That's all anyone will talk about.

In 20 years, Kim Kardashian's ex-husband will be long forgotten. Although, he might get a mention on I Love the 2010s on VH1.

I remember when Yeezus came out and everyone was so hyped, then they realized it was shit.

At first I hated it, and that was because I compared it to MDTF. However, after putting it down for a couple of months, I've started to like it. So IMO, it's not shit. lol.

My friend tells me it was only a small group that was booeing (that how you write it?) and were in the back.
