I've seen one episode of wrestling and it was ridiculous. Apparently, this guy insulted the troops the previous week, so his opponent rolled in with a platoon of soldiers who stood around the ring for the whole fight. Whenever the troop-hater got thrown out of the ring, the soldiers proceeded to beat the shit out of him.

I was really into 80s wrestling and then got back into it in college for a couple years around 1999-2002 or so.

I watched one or two episodes of wrestling (no idea what federation or whatever) as a kid since a neighbour/friend was a fan of it.
I remember being bored to tears. Sorry.

Wrestling is best when it gets into realism and makes you forget it's a silly scripted pastime.
The CM punk pipe-bomb, the way people could relate to stone cold's everyman persona, the small & pudgy Daniel Bryan winning over the handsome, handpicked musclehead who can't wrestle. These are some of the best and most memorable moments in wrasslin'.
It's the silly dick dastardly caricatures and racist nonsense that makes me roll my eyes and feel embarrassed to be watching.
It's why Cena makes a lot of people groan, he's wrestling's superman who can do no wrong (while cheating on his wife off TV). Nobody believes it apart from the kids.
I agree, depressing that it was so short. They should have ER'd the whole Contra series.

Wrestling can be really awesome. Depends on what you watch. When WWE does something right it is the best. It is also really bad in miserable ways most of the time. The merchandise is hardly ever good though. Pro Wrestling Guerrilla is pretty tasty most of the time. But you know what is awesome all of the time? Giant Robot.
