What's a 386?

Something not good enough to run Falcon 3.0 in the " REALLY HOT! " mode :P

So you guys, is PS4 a good investment to buy *now*? Or would you folks recommend I maybe hold on longer for more games to come out/possible hardware revision?

I don't own one yet, either. But I'm looking to get one soon, and I honestly don't feel all that motivated right now. Aside from two or three games, there's nothing I really want to play that I can't play on PS3.

I'm waiting for the revision. Better hardware, lots of cheap games at that point.

If MGS5 comes out before that though I could change my mind.

Just bought a PS4 last week. Right now the game selection is relatively disappointing. The only games I own are Transistor, Strider (free for PS+), Towerfall (also PS+), and Valiant Hearts. Mind you, I have a solid PC that I play the multiplats on (AC4, etc.).

However, in a week's time the flood gates will open. Destiny beta hits on the 17th, which will occupy my PS4 100% of the time it is out, until July 28. The Last of Us remastered comes out on the 29th, which I hope to occupy my PS4 for most of August. Then it's a short ride until Destiny proper is released on the 9th of September, and that is basically all I plan on playing for the future. In between those times, PS+ is sure to get some legit indies and maybe even a AAA exclusive (Killzone is looking pretty grim, getting as low as $20 on Amazon) during either August or September.

I know Destiny is multiplatform, but PS4 seems like the place to get it.

A price cut isn't coming anytime soon, so I don't think it's a poor investment, it's just a question of how many games you want to play on it. A hardware revision is years away.

Depends on what you're looking for. I love my PS4, but aside from smaller downloadable titles there aren't many big games (especially if, like others have mentioned, you have a decent PC to play most multiplats). I love the small games however - I'm really enjoying Blue Estate and am looking forward to titles like Chariot - but it's understandable if those experiences don't really appeal to you. That said, there's some good stuff coming up. I'd say it'd be better to just go for the Destiny bundle in September if you're looking for bigger experiences to play.

I haven't been visiting this thread as frequently as I used to, so unfortunately I've forgotten the preferences of prominent posters :P.

Personally speaking, whether I get a PS4 or not, I'm already deep into the hype-train for No Man's Sky and will be picking that up day one when it's released. If there's any reason to pick up a PS4 for me that'd be it.

okay more P4G questions.
I'm near the end (September?)

on Party Members' Natural weaknesses
- can I equip any accessories to remove that natural weakness?
- or is Evade "Elemental" the closes I'll ever get to mitigating the Elemental weaknesses

on Boosting Elements
- is the Amp/Accessory for 100% Elemental boost the best way to do it?
- or should I go with Boost/Amp for 75% Elemental boost?
- or should the accessory/skill slot be saved for something else

on Critical buffs
- how useful are skills like Revolution, Apt Pupil, etc? Do you guys keep them?
- I'm considering removing the Ice Skills from Chie and make her my Critical Phys damage dealer
- and counter skills do not stack right?
- and there's no Critical buff auto-cast?

on best accessories?
- what are you guys using?

misc
- counters do not stack, evade, null, etc skills do not stack?
- how to reconfigure/relearn skills on Party Members' Persona? (or if I mess up, that's it?)
- are you guys distributing the auto buff cast? I'm usually keeping all of them on my MC.. (cause his Personas are easier to configure) and I can just bring anyone in my party as I deem fit

Nothing you can do about party member's weakness. You can give them evade though or get their social link to rank 10 and they get triple evade against their weakness.

On Boosting elements, that is up to you. I'm not sure if it stacks with Amp skill on that party member. I know amp and element boost works on those you choose to learn it.

On critical buffs. I looked this up about how viable apt pupil is. If you got an aoe physical skill, crit is 5%. Apt pupil only multiplies it by 1.5 so you would only get 7.5% to crit. If you gotten Primal Force which has a 25% to crit, that would give you 37.5% with apt pupil. Single target skills have a higher base crit chance. Hmm, on the page it says it doubles the crit chance. I remember it was 1.50 multiplier.

I never used Revolution too much. Heat Riser and Debilitate were the skills I used.

On accessories, that is up to you.
Yep, counter doesn't stack. Just get High Counter.

To relearn old skills or new skills, take them out on a bike ride. Yukiko is devastating if you get her to learn Mind Charge. Even the MC can't compare to the damage she does as a fire user.

Naoto can learn Bufudyne and Ziodyne which makes her flexible.

You can either get the MC to absorb or repel elements or use a combination of Angelic Grace and Ali Dance to deal with enemies hitting you.
Also get Victory Cry if one of your personas has it. You'll never run out of SP again unless its a really long fight.

- how to reconfigure/relearn skills on Party Members' Persona? (or if I mess up, that's it?)
Go on a bike date during the daytime and talk about the past or however it's worded. Talking about the future gives them a fixed new skill (up to five times), but most of those aren't worth spending a time period on.

I still remember when Hdds had a megabyte of storage, and that felt enormous. 1 million bytes, how cool is that?

Our first Intel, an 8088, had a 20 megabyte hdd. I thought it would never fill up. Then came Wing Commander.

I almost think Another World is easier than I remember, but maybe it's just the next time around. It's still rather unforgiving at times.

Recently I'm really unlucky in Sorcery Saga :(
Before going to the last dungeon i decided to grind for better equipment in the maze of idolatry, well i keep losing or downgrading(damned traps!) the equipment and the last time i have even lost the (lots of)money i had(i forgot to leave it at home...)

Wait it out Banana, if you buy one now or save up for one and get it by Gamescom, Sony'll have announced a new/updated model.

This popped up on PlayStationEU's Twitter account, but the link didn't work. It lead to the the official Drakengard 3 Facebook page, which was only viewable if logged in:
UPDATE AND FIX FOR PAL JP VO DLC.

After extensive testing with our development team and SONY Europe, we have now found the cause of the issue and have uploaded a fixed version of the game. The cause was identified as an error in the game upload process via the PSN store which SONY has now fixed.

You will need to re-download and re-install the game from your Download List (either via the PlayStation Store or via Account Management -> Transaction Management -> Download List under the PSN section of the XMB on your PS3) to receive the fixed version.

We are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this has caused as it has been very frustrating for us also in detecting the cause of the issue.

Thank you for your patience and I hope you enjoy playing the game with the original Japanese language.

What game
I'll probably don't know
had that text?

I didn't know what that 386 thing was neither. First CPUs I know are the Pentium ones. If Wikipedia is right I was born 6 days after the original Pentium was released lol.

I'm waiting for the revision. Better hardware, lots of cheap games at that point.

If Persona 6 / Tales of PS4 / Uncharted 4 comes out before that though I could change my mind.

Fixed that in order to fully reflect my opinions.

I'd rather wait for a pricedrop until there are some good bundles (PS4 + 2 games) for 400€. I'll probably skip this Christmas Season.

Do Boost and Amp stack? I thought once you get the latter the weaker one stopped being useful.

Anyway, I wouldn't have Boost+Amp on any character. Having just 8 skill slots is hard enough, I wouldn't want to have 6. There are accesories that could help you.

on Critical buffs
- how useful are skills like Revolution, Apt Pupil, etc? Do you guys keep them?

I had Revolution mainly for the golden hands.

- I'm considering removing the Ice Skills from Chie and make her my Critical Phys damage dealer

The best elemental skill she learns is Bufula or Mabufula iirc. I'd say keep the former in order so she can still knock down enemies weak to ice, but I wouldn't waste a slot with Boost / Amp.

I usually have a Persona with all the auto buff skills as the default one (Black Frost?). Once the battle starts, I change to the one that it suits the battle better.

Sweet. I have the exact same layout for my Persona games, though I use this picture:

On a related note... I just bought FFX/X-2 for my Vita, even though I don't have enough space to install even one of them. I'm slowly but steadily migrating my usual Steam behavior to PSN...

I really loved Ratchet & Clank Full Frontal Assault, even platinum trophy'd it. It'd a shame that lousy Vita port didn't come out better- that would've made an excellent portable game.

Getting annoyed now

Ni No Kuni install didn't work so I have to redownload it

When I select anything to download in the background, it takes 4 minutes just to prepare it

edit: Wait, why is it downloading a 6GB file, and a 16GB file?

So new Vita games on EU stores:

-Mousecraft (€10.99, -10% for PS+ members, cross buy PS3/PS4, 288Mb)
-Jazz: Trump's Journey (€6.99, 100Mb)
-Skeleton Rider (€3.59, 44Mb)

i heard good things about Jazz: Trump's Journey on mobile and I like Skeleton Rider's visual style and it's cheap. Any impressions on Mousecraft? I thinks it's already available on PC? A cross between Tetris and Lemmings, it can be interesting.

That's normal, it will install as one.

has anyone picked up Another World yet? curious how it runs on vita
Runs just fine. Spent an hour or two with it so far, and it's smooth. Hard as nails, not because of any performance flaws, but smooth.

You really get a sense for how much better modern games are now for communicating cause-and-effect and using it to suggest how you should change your behavior when you play the same section again. This is absolutely brutal trial-and-error in some sections.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-07-09-how-strong-exactly-is-playstations-2014-line-up

And where does this leave Sony's own PlayStation Vita, some two years after its initial release?

"There are lots of new Vita games, you can go and find little gems and there are lots of exciting games," Yoshida said of the vibrant indie offering on display at E3 last month. "But it's not about individual Vita games any more. It's more about how Vita can have multiple uses - with PS4 remote play, PS3 games with PS Now, and the dedicated games. The whole ecosystem with PS4 at the centre, the Vita's a part of that."
