Clearly there's a spit timeline in here somewhere.

Oh we going Megaman Zero canon in this bitch? :D

Mega Man Zero SPOILERS
Zero was using a duplicate body in the Zero series. And Omega had his real body.

Which was (surprise surprise) similar in make and look to the Zero portrayal in that series of games. It's explicitly mentioned multiple times by the series artist Toru Nakayama and art team that the only difference between MMZ Zero and MMX Zero are cosmetic and dictated by the art direction used in the Z series. The reason for the art direction differences were because Inafune wanted a distinct style that would stand out versus the then current style used for the Megaman series up until that point.

... So Niitsuma was right.

That was just in MvC3, not the Mega Man Zero games. The person writing those lines must have been confused.

Really? I guess the art style should've given it away, but I have MvC3 and I don't remember that scene at all.

I don't know why I got involved in this in the first place, as I know nothing about Mega Man anyway. Ignore me.

Old Megaman Spoilers:

Zero was made by Wily as his final trump to Megaman. While in the pod doing its tests, it got corrupted and therefore Zero turned good. Megaman X and Zero were made by Light and Wily respectively....Zero's not Megaman, different creator and everything.

No see, he's totally correct. See Megaman Zero is Zero in the slim body, while he's just Zero in the big body, which is in MVC3. Like DBZ, you don't just say Goku when he's super saiyan. You gotta announce him accurately as Super Saiyan Goku. Mega Man Zero.

But he has "Mega Man" in his name!

Hmmm that would make sense, but Niitsuma says otherwise so it can't work. Maybe he retains the title after he goes back.

Wait, so this guy says he's "not Mega Man Zero" in a game called Mega Man Zero?

No wonder Capcom left the series to rot. No one could figure out what was going on.

The use of the title "Megaman Zero" was to A.) suggest that it was a sequel series to the overall "Megaman" franchise (coming in after Megaman and Megaman X) and B.) focus on the character of Zero who was promoted from extremely popular side kick in the Megaman X series to the main character of his own four game long series.

The confusion (though it shouldn't really be, it's not that hard to keep track of) comes with the introduction of the EXE/Battle Network series which takes place in a second concurrent continuity where the robotics slant of the Megaman/X/Zero/ZX/Legends lineage is replaced by a "software" angle wherein Megaman and other famous robots are reimagined as data programs to help mankind in a massively interconnected and always online world.

Holy shit did I seriously just post this much about the franchise at the drop of a hat... :lol

Question but was X ever actually referred to as Megaman within his own games? Because I feel like he wasn't.

Once in like the first or second game by Dr. Light but that was it.

I can't tell if people don't remember this guy never admits he's wrong or are just trolling...

I'm just talking Megaman because this is my favorite timeline/sub series in the focus and it's been like 9 years since someone's legitimately pulled the "(Megaman) Zero is Megaman" card. It's nostalgic. :D

The picture that Ryce posted? It's his ending!

That explains it. I don't think I played all the way through with more than three characters, and that was a while ago. I'm awful at that game lol

Anyhow, so far this week we've had two PotDs featuring attacks, one featuring costumes, and one featuring a stage hazard which also contained a costume. Now, we know that Sakurai always follows predictable patterns for the PotD. Add to that it's Friday (aka Megaton Day,) we can conclude that today we'll get a megaton related to costumes and attacks. Now which character has an alt and also has attacks? You guessed it: Wario tonight. QED.

Except his "real body" looked identical to his new body, which kind of ruined this plot twist for me.

This isn't correct.
Zero WAS made by Wily, but he did not turn good in any pod. In fact, Mega Man X4 explicitly shows a period where he was very much a psychopathic murderer on the loose, where Sigma (who was still a good guy at the time) just narrowly beat him in a swordfight. Presumably Zero only turned "good" after Dr. Cain had at his circuitry after said battle - although whatever virus Zero was infected with got into Sigma during that fight, and is part of why he turned into the series's villain.

Thank you for correcting me, I was only pulling from vague memory. If only more people would back down from poor information.

Depends. I imagine that their might be a couple of bootleg/cellphone streams, especially if someone runs a PM event. Most of the big dogs (VGBootCamp, ClashTournaments, etc.) will probably be focusing on Melee though.
Clash Tournaments was going to do it, but EVO stopped it. VGbootcamp is allowed to stream some Melee pools.

... No. Unless you're suggesting that Niitsuma and half the people in this thread are liars.

Niitsuma doesn't know what he's talking about and his statement was disproven by his own fucking game, and only one person in here even kinda sorta agreed with you, and his argument was basically trashed anyway.

All of the Mega Man fans are saying that
even Zero from the X series is still Mega Man Zero
. And I think Niitsuma would know better than some random guy on a forum.

Give me one fucking quote saying this exactly and I'll lay off.
All right I'll bite. Here's one!
