Also, the entire Elite Beat Agents soundtrack is licensed music. Rhythm Heaven's music isn't.

To be fair, a lot of Rhythm Heaven music is licensed, but all by a single producer and it's made in collaboration with Nintendo for the sole purpose of being in the game. A lot easier to get a hold of.

The EBA dream was always but a fleeting fantasy. It would never happen. Our hopes and dreams must carry over to a different musical trio.

The Elite Beat Agenets and the Ouendan Cheer Squads are just that, cheer squads and I feel to be true to their source they would work best as assist trophies. I mean the games are literally about them assisting people.

Looks like a lot happened here while I was asleep, so let me get this straight: the developer of Xenoblade retweeted the link to the Evo stream, so they're revealing Shulk at Evo?

It's amazing to me how in modern technology one button press by one person can reveal so much.

One retweet is all it takes.

Maybe EVO gets captain falcon reveal, who is then in shulk's trailer :p

This would be perfectly fine with me, getting powered up as they support in the background dancing away for a brief period of time.

Have the Xeno-dev twitters ever retweeted about a Nintendo thing that didn't involve X? X has been in so many directs for the past year and a half, I don't even know any more.

It's possible that the unlockable newcomers will get them. I can see Nintendo uploading the videos to Youtube a few months after release. Or maybe have the videos unlockable in-game.
With the trailers being so unique and high quality, I think it's pretty likely for them to actually be in the game. I'm expecting a movie gallery, similar to the ones in Melee and Brawl, but expanded.

Eeeeyup, Shulk/Chrom/Chorus Kids are the only remaining newcomers.

Three more videos for each month until the Japanese release in September. It fits too well.

don't forget there are going to be secret characters too, for which he doesn't have videos prepared. so we can probably assume there are like 2-3 more newcomer videos, and then a handful of secret characters.

This raises the question as to why there would be newcomers without trailers. What would be the interest in doing that?

Clones or other derivative characters? If we get another new character like Wolf (that didn't even get his own final smash, in spite of his other attacks being mostly original) or Toon Link (whose moveset is almost entirely copied from Link's), I could see them not bothering with videos and leaving them as unlockable content.

Nintendo's having a 3-minute long Smash reveal monday, the Xenodude retweeted it. No EVO stuff.

He wanted to have videos prepared for all new characters, not just the non-secret ones. Few videos left=few newcomers left.

That would be more than enough for me, but we didn't even get that in Brawl when the series was relevant :(

At this point, though, so many characters have been revealed that I have to imagine he's not holding back from revealing anyone, unlockable or not. I'm not sure there will be any truly "secret" characters this time.

why do you think that?

I think there will be a couple at least, in addition to some secret veterans.

Eh I think newcomers get those special CG intro vids. If it was strictly no vids on basis of not being a newcomer then having a Sonic Video way back when already destroys the argument.

Hmmm.....

Out of curiosity, has anyone come up with a theoretical moveset for Shulk? I can't think of much personally, but I know sakurai could pull something off.

So, what he says, or what he is translated to say is this:
Rather than letting a setback ruin things completely, Sakurai has focused on having video sequences that would instead potentially benefit by being spread around. This has led to the new character intro video sequences for the Villager, Mega Man, and the Wii Fit Trainer. Sakurai expressed a desire to make similar videos for all subsequent new characters.

To me this means that he wants to have a video intro for every new character...and that the video intros might be spread throughout the game? This does not imply that he wants to have a video intro for every character that we see before the game is released.

That's just my 2 cents though.

Neutral B: Monado Buster
Up B: Monado Cyclone (modified for ascent)
Side B: Monado Speed or Monado Eater. (Speed buff and DoT strike respectively)
Down B. Monado Armor (knockback reduction)

He said he only had a few videos left, not only a few videos left to show before release. I hope that at least one of the videos is unlockable, and can be seen once you get the character.

I already explained above why few videos left does not necessarily mean few newcomers left. You should clarify that it is only your take on the matter and not fact.
It is a fact, unless Sakurai didn't meet his goal. His goal was to give every newcomer a video. Assuming he met that goal, few videos left means that there are few newcomers left.

But like you said, there is the possibility that he didn't meet his goal (as evidenced by Mii... kinda).

Pacman's video already was mostly gameplay footage, rather than CG or animation unlike the previous ones...

Brawl had 11 Newcomers revealed pre-launch (14 counting the Pokemon individually and Zero Suit Samus), with 6 newcomers left as unlockable. Out of those, two were revealed pre-launch (the third party ones), while the last four were only officially revealed post launch (Toon Link, Wolf, Lucario and ROB).
