Have to say, I really like this Alex/Vinny combo.

Brad said it best when he said that Vinny has the ability to bring out the best in others. Watching old videos it seems insane that he was behind the camera more often than in front of it (yes I know he had to be).

Ass2Breed.

I just realized that my subscriber medal on the page never changed to gold when I entered my code for a year of subscribesing. :(

Email or PM Rorie, he should be able to help you.

There is a new-found sense of enthusiasm in i think everyone in both offices.

They're past all the planning and hiring and moving and E3 and all that stress. They can finally just settle in and make content again.

It's nice to see. Although I think it was always there. A good amount of people in the community and this thread were throwing around doom and gloom scenarios after Vinny's departure from the SF office. It was irrational.

What's happened since he moved to GB East is exactly what they said would happen: an uptick in video content and more productivity from them all. While I don't think we should never doubt them, I believe it's fair to say that they know what the hell they're doing and the community should have a bit more trust in what GB has to say.

GB Chicago is in a weird place right now. In terms of video, we "only" got Bombin' and Worth Playing (which has shrunk as a feature) this week. Super Professional Friday also seems pretty dead (though I may be mistaken about that).

Rest of GB is brimming with energy at the moment! <3

SPF might've lost Max as a guest, at the very least.

I was definitely skeptical of the split up when I first heard about it, but as long as they keep up the amount of content we had this week (or maybe even a bit less), I don't see how anyone could have complaints. I think Giantbomb is in the best spot it has been in in a very long time. I'm super excited for the future of the site.

Yeah, I can't imagine we're gonna see Max on Giant Bomb anytime soon. Wasn't the new Cards office gonna have a set and podcasting room for GB Chicago, wonder what's gonna happen with that now.

Whatever the outcome is with Max, GB must be having some really difficult conversations about how they're going to handle it all going forward. CBSi legal must be really upset right now for allowing GB to be affiliated with CAH even though they could have never predicted this happening. I have a feeling things on the licensing end will be more difficult now going forward.

Max hasn't been on GB content in nearly three months and the CAH/GB thing seems to be dead in the water. I think you guys think it's a bigger deal than it is.

There is no licensing deal. That all ended. And I doubt CBSi legal are even aware of this yet because it hasn't hit the news/blogs due to it being an anonymous accusation (no publication will touch that for fear of being sued).

That said, I hope Patrick distances GB from CAH anyway. There just seems to be too many people gunning for GB so they can drag em through the dirt. I'm already seeing tweets about Temkin mentioning the "boys club". Doesn't take a genius to realise who they're taking about.

Oh I thought that CAH had already come out. Whoops.

Patrick is on vacation and right now I don't think CBS wants to jump into a possible rape conversation after the feminist dialogue.

Bottom line is they aren't Giantbomb employees. If Patrick has to rely on people who aren't employees to generate content then he has a problem.

He was also on vacation so that could have just been it.

Yeah, I wasn't necessarily referring to the Max situation.

Didn't know Scoops was on vacation, though, as I haven't watched Bombin', yet. Could have connected the lake house dots, I guess, my bad!

I feel like Patrick is aiming to go back to what he was initially hired for: in-depth news articles.

He's talked a bunch over the last 6 months about how he didn't want to do daily streams anymore because they took too much time away from articles. And it's true, he hasn't produced as much written content as before. There was a time he stated that he wanted to put out a story a day. He also talks a lot about how there should be more long form articles.

But I think he's struggling. He seems to be having a bunch of adversity, both internally and externally. He's getting a bunch of criticism from groups he probably thought he was accepted in (basically saying "yeah you talk big, but when it comes to the important stuff, you're just as bad as anyone"). He talks a lot about the death of long form and the destructive nature of modern journalism pay practices, but he is free from those shackles and produces very little researched content and I think he knows it.

I think he's also struggling being away from the camaraderie of the office and geographical nearness of a big chunk of the game industry. He's talked about how sitting alone in front of the same computer in the same house you live in can drive you crazy and I've seen it myself, it's true for a lot of people. It can demotivate you, you fall back into the "easy" stuff, which I think, to him, is the daily streaming of games he likes (Dark Souls, Spelunky, BoI).

I think he also felt pressure to put out video content both to prove that his move to Chicago wasn't a problem as well as to fill the gaps that a lot of people were noticing in GB's overall output. Now that things are picking up again, he may feel more confident in going back to written work.

Finally, he's also been seeing the shift to video news and trying to get his feet wet with editing. Which is tough when you start out.

Anywyay, I feel like he'll figure it all out, it just seems like a big change from when the site was, like, 70% Patrick content for a while.

Patrick needs Wisconsin soil to recharge. As a lifelong packer fan he needed a recharge from living around bear fans.

I'm just reading up on this whole Max thing and it seems like an all around shitty situation.

The accuser could be lying. Max could be lying. They could both be telling the truth, where Max didn't recognize what he was doing was crossing a line, but the accuser felt that it was -regardless of legal precedent.

It's an unfortunate situation, but with the possibility of Max being innocent I don't think Patrick should just completely cut off all ties with the Cards Against Humanity office. Or at the very least, Patrick should consider the relationship he holds with Max and determine if he trusts him enough to believe what he's saying.

i never thought i would say this as someone who found Patrick aggressively annoying at the start, but he's been carrying the site quite a bit over the last 6 months and if everyone else is going to finally up their game and put out some fucking content he should totally take some time to regroup and work out what would be the best use of his time.

As long as it's none of what he did last week what the fuck was that ;)

Really?

I guess that explains why that expansion thing didn't come out (unless i'm remembering wrong).

Also for Patrick the entire thing was weird but now got weirder due to the Max stuff.

Even getting Lang is weird since he has other stuff to do.

I agree with all of this.

Did the plan fall through after Ryan's passing? I was wondering why it never came out.

Yikes, just read up on the Temkin thing. :\

What a terrible situation. I don't even know what to believe; his response is the exact type that third wave feminists decry as part of the problem ("I didn't do it. She is lying. Maybe it was a mistake. This should have been kept private. My lawyer can hurt you. I am a feminist.") yet there really isn't anything more he could say if he is innocent.

The party line is that if someone accuses someone, we must listen and believe because rationalizing or excusing it away makes you part of the problem. So...?

Fuck.

Not sure on the specifics but I definitely remember Jeff mentioning in passing (Jartime or tumblr I think) that it's not happening.

I know that feeling.

Also, good post about Patrick feelings and state. Hope he enjoys his vacations.

The whole Max rape thing is a really situation for both of them. We will likely never know what happened nor will this go to trial.

Should GB cut off all ties to him because of this? Hell no!

GB can let the whole Max thing play out and see how it goes - as I would bet he will not want to appear on any live streams while he is dealing with all this.

It will not be on the CBS radar yet and they already have experience with sex pest allegations since they employ Letterman :-O

Watching the Bot Colony QL really solidified in my mind the greatness of the Alex and Vinny duo.

They are a good combination of actually wanting to play the game "correctly" or atleast progress forward while being humorous.
