I thought Monaco has an advantage since their tax rate is lower, thus their wage expense is also lower? (Player wage is always quoted after tax)

Final team rankings.

Goals Against in the top 4...
Points in the top 4...
Wins in the top 4...

Biggest travesty of this World Cup was Colombia being scared of a shadow and losing to Brazil. =\

Yea but James has already publicly said it's his childhood dream to play for Madrid, so I don't think his wages would be the problem.

Can someone tell me why some countries are able to participate as Invitee's like Jamaica (Who I'll probably root for) What is the requirement? Luck?

CONMEBOL only have 10 countrys, so they need 2 more to make the cup
Mexico is ALWAYS invited. The other one is just a random country

In 2011 they called Japan, but had to replace with Costa Rica in the last minute

I think it had more to do with the physicality of the first half that Brazil brought.

What a fantastic final to a fantastic World Cup. Been rooting for Germany since the USA was eliminated and I was rooting for them in 2010, so I'm very happy they won. They've been the best and most impressive team the entire tournament. I kinda feel bad for Messi because he seems like a really nice guy who will probably take a lot of undeserved shit from some people despite doing a great job for most of the tournament.

I was worried Argentina would just park the bus this game, but I'm glad they managed to be dangerous on their counters and I thought the match was surprisingly even throughout. A little bit into the second half and it became pretty clear Germany was the better team, but after the first half I would have said it was 50/50 odds, and Argentina put up a great fight the entire game. Congrats to them.

Overall, I think this was an incredible World Cup. So many surprises in the group stages, so many great games. I saw bits and pieces of 2006, but 2010 was the first World Cup that I followed intensely, and this one was infinitely better, imo. Also, props to ESPN for their great coverage this year.

Going forward I think Mexico will put a good fight in Copa America. If they play as good as they did in the WC or better I can easily see them going into the semis. This great WC has me pumped for Copa America and Euro 2016. And can't forget the GOAT: Concacaf Gold Cup!

I'm also getting shit from a friend because I was the only one rooting for Germany.

Damn, hope no one gets hurt.

I was impressed by the Brazilian people after there loss. They seem like great fans.

Yep, in Rio at the moment. The Brazilians were upset, yelling, crying and disappointed but absolutely no violence.

Argentineans were throwing chairs and king hitting people around me.

Congrats Germany!

I will never understand people resorting to this because of football.

Me neither. This is what our government has done in 10 years. Now rioting and vandalizing is a national sport here.
They created this monster and now its out of control.

These people needs to get shot or jailed.

Meanwhile some uncivilized idiots are trying to rob a bank.

Club football is superior :)
Fans are alot more attached to their clubs, the international matches have alot more quality and you've get your dose on a regular level :D

BVB <3

Ehehe if I would root for a club it would be the BVB :P And that's part of the problem, yes there are matches every week but I'm not nearly enough of a football fan to pay for PayTV to watch it :/ And the thing that bothers me the most is that I always got the feeling that on the bottom line after each season money matter more than anything else and players swap often to the best? club with the most money (Bayern...) Now this might be a total misconception of mine and I understand that club-players want to get as big as they can and rightfully so but it never sat well with me :/

I know some people might jump on me for that but... well I know the sport itself is what matters the most and I like football as a sport itself though what always makes World Cups and Euros so great for me is that the whole world just forgets most of the trouble on this planet and just celebrates together in harmony and enjoys the event. Of course there are riots and sadness among the losing teams and fans and not everything is happiness but overall it seems the planet grows closer together than during any other time while watching a awesome sport and that just adds so much for me :) I miss this atmosphere during club-matches too :/

Plus it's already 3:22 am here, unless people are lazy students like myself, alot of them have to work tomorrow.

Good old Germany, focusing on being productive the day after you've won the WC. :,)

Schweini was such a hero today, and he has the marks to prove it.

Also, lol at the notion that the next 10 years won't belong to Germany because their "golden generation is retiring". The only ones from the starting-11 who won't start in 2018 due to age are Klose, probably Schweini, maybe Lahm, and the last two will probably still be in the squad.

Young players in the squad: Draxler, Götze, Ginter, Durm, Mustafi. Add to that all the talent that wasn't in the squad: Bender-brothers, Ter Stegen, Reus, Gündogan, + a half-dozen more around 20 that have been capped recently.

The football-future is German.

Maybe they are hoping David Luiz is the security guard since he can't stop anything.

Idiots. I hope no one gets injured or killed.

I couldn't see the game after it went overtime. Honestly, not mad that Germany won, I kept telling my friends I could see Germany taking this WC around the time in the group matches. I'm happy with how Argentina played; they had a good run.

Until 2018 everyone, won't really be watching football unless my dad has it on lol.

Or Euro 2016 :D

The difference is, Bayern and alot of clubs build up the foundation of financial sucess.
Allthough there are some clubs like Hoffenheim,Wolfsburg and Leverkusen who're avoiding it.

Dortmund for example was on the verge of bankruptcy, they were lucky and worked hard and developed their own players, plus had a pretty good scouting that got alot of talented players for a decent price.
They've developed a team that could rival someone like Bayern with hard work.

The Bundesliga isn't like the English Premier League where someone with money just walks in and buys a club and keeps it as toy.

Of course it's also coming down to money, but football in general is going the way of commercialization.
That goes for the national team as well, you don't even wanna know how much money the DFB makes by all the commercials or products that have the national team on them.

And while I agree that the atmosphere among the national games is far more friendly, the atmosphere in the clubs is just a total difference.
You'll never see awesome choreographies that club fans are doing, neither the atmosphere and the chants.
It's on a whole different level :)

Well, as long as you keep watching football and enjoy it, it's fine :>

Well done Schland!

You scared me in the first half with a rather shaky performance, but gathered your wits about you just in time and when it mattered, you went the distance against an Argentine defense that was second to none until the dying minutes of the match.

I look forward to seeing your boys play again in Euro 2016!

Argentina, you can be proud of the fact that you did not capitulate to the Germans until the last 7 minutes of extra time. Your defenders and Mascherano in particular deserve all the kudos for stopping the Germans again and again and frustrating them every step of the way. Your offense was found wanting however, and that was your downfall. You gave me and GermanyGAF heart attacks by your near misses, and we'd all be singing a very different tune if those chances were fully capitalized upon.
