PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

Time for The Droppings. I'm basing the list here on the Sneak Peek over on PSN Stores.

Edit: The real Droppings are up. My list was good.

Crimsonland
Platforms: PS4
Format: Digital
Crossbuy: N/A
Price: Estimating $14.99 (Steam version is $13.99)

Originally launched in 2003 as a Windows game, this is a top-down shooter in which you fight against hordes of enemies and survive by a matter of inches, reminiscent of Robotron. The PS4 version comes with 60 missions (up from the previous 50) in the Quest mode, and also includes a Rush and Survival mode. (It also has a Type-o-Shooter mode, similar to The Typing of the Dead, but I'm not clear on whether that's in the PS4 version or not. It should be, but life is sometimes unfair.)

One Piece: Unlimited World Red
Platforms: PSV (already out for PS3)
Format: Digital and retail (retail is exclusive to GameStop)
Crossbuy: No
Price: Estimating $39.99

This is an action game based on the One Piece anime and manga series by Eiichiro Oda. There are literally dozens of games based on the series, but this is part of the Unlimited line of games, and it was originally released for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan in late 2013. Last week it came out for the PS3 (and Wii U and 3DS) in the US, and this week it gets a release on the PSV. The main game consists of adventuring and battling, similar to the previous game Unlimited Cruise SP, but with some tweaks to the gameplay. The PS3 version has gotten a Metacritic score of 71 since its release.

Abyss Odyssey
Platforms: PS3
Format: Digital
Crossbuy: N/A
Price: $14.99 (currently going for $9.99 on Steam for PC version)

From ACE Team, who developed Zeno Clash, this appears to be a 2D brawler in which you not only can develop your own abilities but can absorb the soul of a downed enemy and then play as that enemy. Reminds me of 2D Castlevania because of the 2D and the souls part, but no idea how well this would play.

Crimsonland looks kind of interesting to me... but I also blew my extra money on that 99¢ sale, so I'm probably going to hold steady this week.

Oh, and looks like Pinball Arcade is finally getting something this week (PS3/PSV) and next (PS4). About dadgum time.

Well this is frustrating. I transfer PS1 game saves between my Vita and PS3 all the time. My Internet has been down all morning, and I just found out I can't even transfer the save via USB cable without Internet access. I'll have to use my phone as an access point to pull this off. I didn't know I was phoning home every time I transferred a save file. I think that's a little ridiculous.

Crimsonland looks like it'll be fun, not looking forward to that AU markup though so i'll probably wait for a sale if it's more than $15.

So I've been working towards the platinum trophy for Project Diva. I kind of wish more of these trophies were earned from the game side rather than the Tamagotchi side. Also I'm still missing 2 of the loading screen arts and I have close to 50 hours clocked:(

Thanks, yeah having played a lot of other MegaTen games (please bring Nocturne to Vita ;__;) I prefer fusing and shuffling them around, it's more fun than having to stick to one character. Anyway it seems it's particularly encouraged since Izanagi levels up slow as hell and is not that useful. I wanted to make sure since in some MegaTen games you had to keep particular demons with you at all times (Lilith, anyone?) to unlock hidden ones.

The 32GB card for my Vita already feels cramped. :(

Double checking. Backing up EITHER physical or digital Vita/PSP/PS1 to my PC will also backup the saves right? Kinda silly that I need PS+ just to copy only the saves for digital copies.

Quick question. If you have a PS4 with one PS Plus account, can you have multiple PS IDs that have all the same benefits on that console (ie online play, shared DLC, use of PS Plus games)?

Edit, will post in ps+ thread.

You can. I created a second ID on my console and have played the PS+ games online with no issue.

Just checked the drop and Ratchet Collection Vita still doesn't have a release date.... :l.

At least One Piece Red is coming this week for Vita :D; a really good game from what I saw of it online so I hope people who are looking forward to it are excited about it :). Never watched the anime but the world and characters always looked interesting.

Edit: Also started playing some of the games I got from the 99c sale.....man they are some good games :D!

Wild Arms is really good so far; only played Rudy's prolog but the music is great (the battle theme is awesome; loved the theme used on the Competitionist XD!) and the 2D visuals look really great (the 3D Battle visuals don't look that bad either). Will give the sequel a shot latter today (though I just might hold off on it until I played much more of the first one).

Dino Crisis 1 is exactly as you guy's described; Resident Evil with Dino's. Only played it for a few minutes but the campy story, nice visuals and okay controls (surprised at how decent tank controls are; never played the original RE's, so I always thought they were horrendous or something...) make it enjoyable :). Like Wild Arms, I will give the sequel a shot after I beat/play more of DC1.

Tekken 2 and Harvest Moon PS1 are also fun games :). Only played them for a little bit but both are really soild from the bit I played of them :D.

Double Dragon Neon is really fun too :D. The visuals look great, the controls are solid and the combat is deeper then I expected to be. Will be a lot of fun to play :).

Lastly, I played Legend of Dragoon, and I am really surprised at how much I like :D. Granted, the story so far is only okay (I find Dart a little bland and things are very.....fimilar, I guess?) but the visuals and combat system are very good. The game looks great on the Vita (the normal character models and the backgrounds in the world look really nice), the encounter system is smart (you have a marker on your head that turns red when enimes are coming) and the battle system is lifted from the Mario RPG's :D (where you have to time you button presses and mash X repeatedly at times to get an extra hit or more damage from a spell). The music is.....odd, being a mix of all kinds of things (like the Prison, Forest, Forest Battle Theme and the Menu sound great but the battle victory theme is just....ugh X(), but it mostly sounds good :). Great buy for a buck I must say and I look forward to playing more of this :D.

I recently registered a PSN account and am getting my bearings. Its quite a thing, registering for a service like PSN which has been around for so long and has gotten so much stuff. Not sure how long it will take me to get all the achievements in Atelier Rorona.

Make sure you have a Persona with the matching arcana whenever you spend time with S.Links.

I did... but still doesn't seem to work
do I get less Bonus if I choose "Decider Later" instead of "Spend Time" (e.g. I decide later and end up spending time w Kanji, do I miss out on any bonus?)

and some guides are saying I can only do SLinks up to Nov 27? so am I screwed?

There's nothing more fun than getting all the Trophies in your favourite game. It's almost an obligation for me.

FFX has sucked me in again on the Vita. Loving it.

I may get it once it drops in price. But I dunno. I don't follow the series. I liked it while I was a kid (saw the dubbed chapters, I must have seen Arabasta and Skypiea sagas a dozen of times. They didn't dub new chapter in Spanish for years, so they repeated those two arcs for YEARS).

I've tried like 2 times to watch it again. But I always stop mid-way. I may try when Naruto finally finishes. I read like 20 manga chapters yesterday (I've ignored it for the next 6 months) and I'm 100% sure it'll finish this year.

Finally. I was like 10 years old when I started watching that thing. I'm 21 now. I haven't been following the whole time but still. It's about time.

I wish they did something similar here. Or allow multiple accounts on Vita :(

Does anyone know the file size of Project Diva F 2nd on Vita by any chance? I only got 16GB card but I want this game digitally so I'm trying to figure out how much stuff I'll need to remove to fit the game on when it comes out.
Edit: from what I've found, people are saying the JP version is 3000MB. and create mode is a separate download at 1000MB... which is a good thing. Cause not everyone is going to use that mode and it saves space by having it a seperate download.

Article comparing the Vita version of Minecraft and Version 0.9.0 of Pocket Edition: http://www.forbes.com/sites/andyrobertson/2014/07/10/minecraft-pocket-edition-0-9-0/

Ultimately the Vita version has proper controls and online multiplayer, whilst the Pocket Edition has infinite worlds.

No surprise there. It's too bad but it is what it is. I like infinite worlds on the PC version and on the Vita that would be amazing. 4J Studios says they cant do infinite worlds due to save file size restrictions implemented by Sony / MS. I also noticed the Pocket Edition is more in line with the PC version then the console/Vita versions are =(. 4J needs to update console versions with the new biomes, and the updated Zombie AI that destroys you.

This looks amazing. Is it possible to download edited songs from other players?

Yeah. They are accessible through the game menus. You connect online to a server to download other peoples creations. The MP3's you have to get through your own means though. For obvious reasons. You do need the exact same MP3 the song was made with. Most videos on youtube have a link to the MP3 that was used for the edit.

Yes, i believe you can back up saves to the PC. Pretty sure I have done such before.

Downloaded 3 games in the past month.

Transistor (PS4), Fez (Vita) and Child of Light (Vita)

I would highly recommend Child of Light, it's one of my top 3 favorite downloadable games available on PSN (Along with Journey/Guacamelee).

My only complaint about Fez is that i didn't understand how the world map/teleporting worked, i felt blind the whole game because i didn't understand them. (Although this is probably my fault more than the games).

Transistor is a beautiful game, i wasn't a huge fan of the combat but the art style, graphics, music, and narrative is so good that it made up for it. (its kind of expensive right now though).

i got dino crisis last night and ended up playing it the whole time i was at work, really fun. i think i might bite on some of the other ps1 classics on sale this weekend.

Yep....Sony even made a whole console listed as an add-on when it is it's own thing :l.....

Welp, at least Sony's vision for the Vita is clearer here :(; an add-on for the PlayStation 4....

I wonder if this will help sell the thing though, as many people got PS4's and it the PS TV being 'linked' to PS4 would attract more buyers to it or something :l...

Not going to lie, it even took me a while to notice what was off about that picture. SCEA's marketing of the PS TV as a PS4 accessory and not as a device that can play Vita games seems to be working at least.

Haha, I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out.

Does it matters? In fact, making it an acessory to PS4 is much better marketing than saying that it plays Vita games. No one cares about the Vita, deal with it.
