Lucina, Robin AND FEMALE ROBIN, & Captain Falcon Are Today's Smash Newcomers!

Is this the new knee of justice animation?

Yay FE love. I'm not a huge Awakening fan, but given its sales it was obviously going to get some representatives in Smash. I'm happy to have Lucina as a Marth-alt. Robin should be a nice addition (and I'm glad they included both male and female).

It's sort of funny that all the FE representatives in Smash are sword-users. Even Robin has a sword when he/she runs out of magic. Maybe if Hector or Sigurd had come along a bit later...

So Lucina is probably a Marth clone, considering she's not listed as a newcomer n the smash site. She does get her own character slot, however, so she's not just an alt. I guess she's getting her own slot on the roster, kind of like Roy.

At first i was like robin? who is that? and then i saw the pictures. and went like ahh the character you could give a name in FE. Loved to see a more magic oriented FE character so happy he/she is in. But kinda sad we got no Olivia but ill take lucina as second place.

So it does say Lucina is a newcomer on her page itself; her icon just isn't a long one. I guess it's just a web design decision, because if Lucina that got the longer icon as well, the website wouldn't be a "perfect" grid system or whatever when all is said and done.

Really wouldn't mind Lucina being a Marth-alt. Look closely at her moves in the trailer, they're really similar to Marth's. Frankly, I would be disappointed if she was just a character clone >_>

On the other hand:
YES

I'm almost sure Lucina is a clone/palette swap. Every move shown being Marth's already was the first hint. If she had unique moves, they would have shown it.

Second, they've been moving away from Melee style clone characters in Brawl and probably will continue with Wii U/3DS. This is why Roy/Pichu/Dr. Mario won't return, Falco and Ganondorf received changes to further differentiate themselves, etc.

I think this reveal was only for 1 new character, one returning character, and 2 palette/voice swaps (Robin M/F and Marth/Lucina).

I hope Lucina and Chrom are different enough from Marth and the other swordsmen to distinguish themselves. Robin looks fun to play.

Also I swear my hype levels sky rocketed when I heard Robin's war cry more than actually seeing it on the screen. So well done.

A horrible thought just occurred to me.

If Sal's roster count/likeness of characters was right, what if he confused Robin with Shulk?

This was pretty great. Glad to see that Captain Falcon is still in.

Also happy that Lucina is playable, but the moves we saw got me a bit worried about her being a clone. I thought she could possibly be a skin, but this was more than I could've hoped for.

Still, I think Anna would've been a cooler addition. She's a Fire Emblem staple and was first playable in Awakening.

Lucina is a clone, like Roy was for Marth. Her own slot and all on the select screen. Not a palette swap.

We'll have to see if Lucina is a seperate clone character with slight differences or just a skin of Marth that plays exactly the same.

Too be honest. I'm not reallly a fan of characters like Robin and Villager.
Still. The Fire Emblem love is nice.
