Y'know, all the videos are made and I'm sure all the website info is prepped.
Switching from Shulk to tonight's vid, due to the latest Shulk leak, probably wouldn't be THAT difficult.
Although, if there was a planned order to things, then I guess they're lucky no unannounced character/stage was amongst the trailers gameplay. Unless they also made last minute cuts.

Yeah, they looks similar except the cloths, the color scheme, the sword, the book, the hair color and the female-version but they both have kind of similar hair, are male and have an anime art style. Totally similar! .

Oh my god Fire Emblem characters everywhere! Lucina AND Robin?! Awakening represent. I wish we could at least get Chrom as a skin or something though, not just a final smash.

They keep uploading some questionable shots of some of the female characters: see Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, etc. Plus the weird Palutena fanservicey hip shake thing during her reveal.

Chrom would have been yet just another male sword user. Lucina with a gender change is actually diffferent in some regard.
But clones add to the roster count, they don't take away anything. She wouldn't have gotten in if she wasn't a clone of Marth. People should be happy she's in the game at all and that they get to play as her -- even if she shares 90% of her animations with Marth she'll still play differently from him.

Think about the logistics. Those newcomer rectangles take up 3 squares. Capt Falcon would have to be moved all the way below Palutena and Pacman (and probably Mii and Greninja.) They already had to move Ike up even though he was announced before Pac, Palutena, and Mii.
She could still be a clone, of course.

We're already at 36 characters (37 if you include Game and Watch), and the only clone previously announced is Toon Link. I'm totally down with Lucina being a clone of Marth given the variety so far.
IMO I'm happier that it wasn't Chrom. Between the anticipation for Shulk, Chorus Men, and Chrom I found him to be the most boring. Lucina may be a Clone but the shock of Robin and just the mere fact that Gematsu was wrong about Chrom softens some of the "meh" behind Lucina considerably to me.
Above all I'm kinda glad that this was a surprise factor behind all this. Thank the heavens.

Good to know. As far as I'm concerned everything is legit aside from the timing. Chrom is an interesting subject as well. He doesn't have a playable icon on the site but the video made me think playable.
I have a feeling Shulk was planned tonight, up everything just lined up too well and Sakurai said "oh yeah?!" And flipped everything at the last second. The Wonderful thing though is that your friends leak doesn't mean that's all there is!

That's true. We're trusting that Sal is hearing from the same email account each time, and that the same person is writing to him by said email account. Personally, I'm inclined to believe there is an inside connection here, since whether the leaker is one guy or several -- or one guy hearing from several guys, and then passing along all of their tips to Sal -- the first leak was still accurate despite all the odds, and the third leak had Mii Fighters going for it, even if Chrom has now been debunked.
My theory? Like with "Pokémon from XY," the leaker(s) was probably privy to roster talks in the early stages, and at that time a Fire Emblem slot was reserved. The leaker then made the mistake of assuming it would go to the most recent lord, as usual.
What's exciting is anything is possible now.

Female Robin and playable Lucina may have made this the best day for me in months. I've gone from "It'll be fun to play smash. Palutena should be fun" to "OOOOHHHHHMMYYYYGOOOOOOD"

Uh, you're referring to Winter. Holiday means the Holiday shopping period that ends on December 25, 2014, because you know... it's the biggest gifting holiday in the USA.

As someone who has never played Fire Emblem, I have no idea who these people are. But if it means more characters like Marth, I'm all in.

Semantics, semantics, semantics.
Even Sakurai described these reveals as "reaching the bottom the new characters". Of course they're already all decided, but the more characters that are revealed to the public that are not (character of choice), statistically, there is a shrinking chance that (character of choice) will be in the game.
No one believes Sakurai is willing these models and movesets into existence with each reveal.
Advance Wars is a dead series, and Fire Emblem had its most popular game ever released last year.

Lucina's inclusion is awesome. Being a likely Marth clone is slightly disappointing, but then he's been my main in the last two games so I'm still pretty satisfied. Robin looks a lot of fun as well, and I'm glad they included the gender choice.
Her newcomer art that would usually expand it is part of Robin's art.
