Just watched that One Piece QL, seemed weird, I don't trust a game named after an item on the KFC menu, and Bot Colony looked infuriating, but I'm really liking the Alex/Vincent team.
That's anime-ist.
I don't even like wrestling.
They joked that most of the internet hate comes from people with anime avatars.
edit: Danielle Riendeau seems legit. Such a shame she's at Polygon.

But then I looked at the Brawl page on GB and apparently Jeff reviewed it and gave it a 4/5. Since this was a review for the site he made specifically so that you didn't have to give games you didn't like good scores, I imagine he must have had a pretty good time with it.

Jeff also gave LBP 2 a 5 and Wii Sports Resort a 5. He will review them on their merits and score them accordingly, but it doesn't mean he loves the game (he usually does, but not always).
Trust me, there are no big SSB fans on Giantbomb (unless Dan or Jason are).

I love Idle Thumbs but there was a stretch where they were starting to get dull. Adding her gave the show a big kick in the ass. Pro-Danielle.
I agree with this 100%. It's great to have a fresh perspective on games on that podcast, not to mention someone who plays new games every week. She has been a really great addition to the Thumbs. Her accent was absolutely killing me last week. So good.
That seems weird though, since one of his big sort of directives with GB was to review a game based on your opinion of it, regardless of the merit. He frequently points out how he gave Majoras Mask a good review, even though he hated the game and uses that to highlight the exact opposite of what he wants to do at Giant Bomb.
Maybe it's just sort of a misunderstanding, where he enjoys the game more than he usually says. Or may be he does just only dislike the competitive scene.

The sentiment of the letter is spot on but the wording is very awkward in places. Was there a Google Doc where people could make changes to it?

I don't know. I recall Jeff personally likes both of those games a whole lot. Didn't he say the biggest problem with Wii attach rate was that the best games on the system were Wii Sports and its sequel (i.e. pack-ins)? I think GB would try to pair a game with a reviewer who'll more likely enjoy it based on things like genre preferences, though.
He really went in. At first I thought he was taking the piss out of SSB fans.
Dan really likes SSB. Or at least he did before they played it for 30 hours straight at Game Informer
