Lucina, Robin AND FEMALE ROBIN, & Captain Falcon Are Today's Smash Newcomers!

Why are people mad about Robin? It hits two birds with one stone - a lead/important character and a character who doesn't fight like the current FE cast in Smash.

It's a custom character placed in a game where you can't customize them, which is kinda dumb. Plus Robin was a bore in a series full of better characters.

Lucina was a character that I actually wanted to see, glad that Sakurai chose her. Anna and Tharja would have been nice additions (the former especially because of its more colorful design) but honestly very unlikely to begin with, both were more hyped by fans than their actual importance in the game and the latter, at least when it comes to magician seems to be adequately represented with Robin anyway.

Those are Konami guys you mentioned. And FEA is popular and well liked so why not.

You don't think I know that? So what are Pac-Man, Sonic and Mega Man doing in the game? They're perfectly suited to stand toe-to-toe with Mario, Link and Samus because they were very important characters in the history of video games. This makes the game even more appealing to guys that grew up during this period of time. Plus, more people will recognize popular characters out of the 80s and early 90s than they will someone from FE. It's fan service either way, yes, but at least my version of fan service makes sense in the context of game where popular mascots beat the shit out of each other. What person who grew up at that time wouldn't want to see Simon Belmont fight Pit or Little Mac? Or Mega Man fight Samus? Those are the dream scenarios. Not a bunch of FE guys who almost no US gamer will recognize.

All this Tharja love... and all I can think is "I'm not sorry she died in my playthrough."

This thread is seriously making me want to restart the game though.

Chrom is an alternate costume or a separate character?

Also, does SSB really need 4 FE characters?
Chrom is a Final Smash.
If anything, this will be help for the franchise; seems that a lot of people are still not into the franchise despite Awakening's success.

Gematsu hasn't been WRONG until now. The only thing the gamatsu leak failed at was not including rosalina, which many shrugged off. Gematsu clearly said Chrom. No playable chrom.
The Gematsu leaker also got his information early on in development, which explains why he said "Pokemon from X/Y" instead of Greninja. He probably made a similar mistake with Chrom.

I completely forgot that they we're revealing more characters for Smash today.

Legit did NOT expect Lucina or Robin to be in Smash Bros. But man am I glad their in. Looking forward to playing as them. FE deserves more representation

Also C. Falcon were you ever in doubt, my friend?

is it just me or is Captain Falcon the best fit for this banner yet? It just works perfectly with his helmet/visor.

Unless they changed chrom to lucina at some point in development, I doubt it.

Like the palutena leak, it's impossible to prove or disprove (could have been from early in development but they changed it argument).

As that's the case, and the leak was wrong about chrom, there is no way to know if it's real or not, so we can only assume it's not anymore.

I wish sakurai wasn't against all character costumes so Roy could be a Marty costume and so can Lucina. She really didn't need her own slot if she's just going to be a clone but hey whatever, we finally got a fire emblem character who isn't only strictly sword :D

LMAO 4 FIRE EMBLEM SLOTS

Good going for FE

If anyone else has anything to say about there not being room for Mewtwo and Jigglypuff, now's the fucking time.

Also, since Chorus Men and Shulk still have valid reasons outside of the Gematsu leak to believe they might be in, I think something's up. He's been so close to right, that he'd have to be a very, very talented guesser to be simply a troll.

It does not in anyway debunk the Gematsu leak.

How do you figure?

The "leak":

  • Didn't predict Robin
  • Didn't predict Lucina
  • Didn't predict Rosalina
  • Wrong about Chrom being playable
The first leak might of been legit since it called WFT and was released right around E3 last year, and conventions can easily be leaky ships. But since then all the subsequent "leaks" have only successfully predicted obvious additions (Palutina, from the last game Sakurai made) or characters under vague guesses ("Pokemon from XY"). Normally leakers get the benefit of the doubt because anything on their list not in the game "just hasn't been revealed yet" until the game actually ships. But here we see the leak being decidedly wrong about Chrom.

Wrong. We can assume it's real based on it getting only this one character wrong, plus the fact that no one, but NO ONE, though Wii Fit Trainer would be in the game. Wii Fit Trainer alone almost confirms the leak.

how much did nintendo pay the warner brothers
and warner sister
to include batman characters

but

not include batman himself?

must be for the next direct!

Alright, that smash trailer pushed me over the edge.
I need to buy Fire Emblem Awakening, however I am a cheap ass gamer.
Where can I buy it for the best price or should I wait for a deal or something?

No reason to have Tharja as Robin is a mage. Crazy Fire Emblem representation

Would have liked to see either Sumia or Cordelia. That could have made for an interesting play style

We can give it a pass on it failing to mention one or two newcomers but not 3, imo. Also being outright incorrect basically disproves it. Even if it WAS right 2+ years ago when they learned about the initial proposed roster, it makes it WRONG now since what the leaker proposed is no longer correct anymore. So maybe it was a legitimate leak once upon a time but it's not longer relevant and that's what matters.
