That's like saying nobody recognizes or plays as default Shepard.

Which everyone does and lots of people do. Not knowing the default name was Robin is like saying you didn't know Ness and Lucas' default names. The game tells you explicitly.

Shepard is on the Boxart, and pretty much all promotional material. Everyone calls Shepard "Shepard" too, even if you call him something else. Nobody calls Robin "Robin" in the cutscenes, in fact you don't even get to see his face in those. Also, Ness and Lucas have an official name and static look throughout the game.

Shepard is on the Boxart, and pretty much all promotional material. Everyone calls Shepard "Shepard" too, even if you call him something else. He's/she's what you see when you first customise the character. This isn't some random model combination you actually had to change it to not have that model

I can't say I love this announcement, but I do love all the female fighters in this game. I hope this and Hyrule Warriors and Splatoon really signal a sea change in the amount of playable female characters in Nintendo games. There were about ten other Fire Emblem reps I woulda liked more than Lucina and Robin, but I'll accept these for sure.

Sad that I already heard someone in my office complaining about "more bullshit Fire Emblem characters that no one cares about." Considering Nintendo is trying to turn that series into one of its top tier franchises, it doesn't seem strange at all to see more representatives in Smash.

Looking forward to playing both Lucina and Falcon though. Said it before, but those were the two characters I most wanted to see in the game. Falcon was obviously going to be in, but I am legitimately surprised to see Lucina.

No I agree with you completely! Sadly, Metroid has been represented in Smash 4 by Other M excluding Dark Samus. In this case I'd say be careful what you wish for, because we might just get it.

Possibly, but I could also see him/her cycling through all the FE classes and launching attacks. Since changing to any class is part of the Avatar's gimmick.
