I've e-mailed him about the lack of Shulk, as well as the whole Chrom being a Final Smash thing. I'll update if I get a response.

Still finding it hard to believe. 8 for 11 is no easy task. I wonder what he has to say.

it was a great reveal. lucina, robins, and the captain. that said, seeing chrom on the ground, and then shown to be playable, made it even greater. BUT then i realized, and likes all of you guys are saying, he's just part of robin's ultimate. so out of all the trailers, this would be a kick in the balls/10.

of course i understand the need to make each character a little more different than the others, but it still felt bad. lucina is probably just a marth clone variant anyway, i wouldn't mind chrom being an ike clone variant.

if he really is playable, trailer/reveal is a nice 10/10 to me

Relax, there's still several characters to go. It'll even out more.
That said, Pokemon, Zelda, and Mario should be about the same. They're ninty's biggest franchises, especially Pokemon and Mario. Pokemon rotates characters in and out of the spotlight more than Mario does, which is why it has a more unique cast from each game to game than Mario does.

Wait a minute, I checked the official site and see that Lucina is her own character. Isn't she just a clone of Marth? Why the hell isn't she an alt skin? I thought they were trying to cut back on clones in this game?

I'm sure it's been discussed, but what do you guys think of the validity of the Gematsu leaks? The leaks have, up until now, been correct. Chrom not being playable may have debunked the leak, but too many of the names have already been proven true.

We don't know. We suspect he has some info but not all of it. Thats all.
 
I don't recognize a third of the smash characters. Nintendo seems to have a large roster of human characters dressed in medieval clothing.

Chrom was show as window dressing in Lucina's reveal trailer. It looks like he is explicitly confirmed as not a playable character in smash 4. So either the leaker had super-outdated info, and the switch was made from Chrom to Lucina after he got his info, the info was acquired secondhand and some stuff was lost in translation, or the leak isn't real.

Chrom as part of Robin's final smash? I'm okay with that!
Female Robin alt. character? YES.

Any Fire Emblem in the new Smash would have made me happy, but THIS just took me to heaven! 100% Guaranteed buying smash 4!

Now I wait.
 
Cool for FE fans I guess. Disappointed at no Lucas yet, still, and these definitely weren't the characters I was expecting. Oh well.

Someone suggested the leaker only has some of the details from the reveal trailers. So Chrom could have been an implication based on it being a "FE Awakening themed trailer" and not something he knew as fact. I mean, prior to today, if you knew at least one FE:A character was going to be the game, you would probably have Chrom as your most logical pick given that he is the main character.

No, but it claimed Chrom was a playable character. He's not. It also claimed we were gonna get Shulk today. We didn't.

It's still not completely debunked--it's ridiculous to assume everything they've said up to now have been nothing but guesses--but you can expect some people will treat it as such and dismiss anyone who thinks it still has any truth to it.

I know that it looks like Robin might be summoning Chrom as a Final Smash in that video, but does that really mean we can be 100% certain he isn't a playable character?

Even if it was a genuine leak, it clearly wasn't up to date with development and is therefore useless.

Brawl had 39 unique fighters spread across 35 slots. This time around, each unique fighter gets their own slot (although the three Mii Fighter variants will presumably share one).

There are still like a dozen some vets to be confirmed. And assuming the Gematsu leak is not completely bunk, we can also expect Shulk and Chorus Men. Although now there's a heavy asterisk next to their names, in light of Chrom not coming true.

Really, anything's possible now. I'm guessing around 50 characters overall.
