Sorry, but like Norton, Bennington, and others, I have to stand with Anthony here. I don't condone racism by any means but people should be allowed to say what they want. If we don't like it, we don't have to listen to it and destructive types can destroy themselves. I myself am not white and have never considered Anthony to be racist. I think he hits on touchy subjects, maybe too touchy for some people to discuss but the fact is there are those stereotypical problems in different communities and cultures that sometimes have basis in fact. It doesn't make you a racist to understand those problems, but I say if you generalize and assume EVERYONE of said group is like that, then yeah, that is kind of a problem.
White people have KKK, redneck, whatever type stuff in their corner but do I assume all white people are racists? Of course not, but the KKK is comprised of white people, that is a fact and that doesn't make me racist. Are all Muslims terrorists? No,but the fact is a lot of those middle eastern terrorist groups are Muslim extremists. It's a fact. It's like those self proclaimed Christian groups that hate homosexuals, or picket funerals. That doesn't speak for all Christians as a whole. It is unfair to generalize on that scale because in a lot of cases, those bad apples are ostracized and looked down on by their peers, particularly because of how they set everyone back or give them a bad name.
Are there issues in certain black communities concerning crime? Yes. Now in my opinion, I find this really doesn't matter; a bad area is a bad area with thugs of any color. Hate, anger, crimes....they don't have a color, the people committing them do. I see no reason to single a particular group out unless you want to work with statistics and comparisons to other groups or areas. Not racism, just facts.
White, black, asian, latino....I have so many friends of different colors, and I'm glad that with all of them this is a subject we can discuss. We all have bad eggs in our races we are not proud of. It's not racism, it's just accepting that there are serious douchebags out there and their color doesn't matter unless you want to take a look at common themes. "Black gangstaz", "White redneck KKK", "Mexican homeboys"....whatever the hell it might be.
I really think people in general need thicker skins. If someone says something you don't like...who cares? How does it affect you? It's just noise. You can pinch your noise at the stink of it and walk away. There is a ton of racist garbage out there.....only the ...I don't even have a word for it, would seek out racist (Against them) material and decide to be upset about it. You can determine what you allow to be in your life.
Remember though, I am talking about simple speech, social media, and the like. It's a different story when we talk about actual hate crimes, people assaulting people, and things like that. That's a real problem. But words? Come on! Empty, stupid words that only hurt if you allow them. You'd have to seek out Anthony's twitter to read what he wrote and then be offended. That's like choosing to be offended because it's a hobby or something. Screw that, I got better things to do.
Please don't ask my race, I won't reveal. It doesn't matter. My words on the board define who I am. I am actually quite liberal and this is how I feel. I stand with Jim Norton, Joe Rogan, Penn Jillette, Colin Quinn, and many others with Anthony. There is a principal here that I believe in, and it doesn't have anything to do with what Anthony actually said.
This is all I have to say, and will say on this matter. Peace to everyone and let's concerns and outrage be over more serious problems than something somebody said. With all the real problems in the world, I could give a shit less what somebody simply says. Nothing offends me that begins and ends as nothing more than words.
