I think this may be a regional thing. There's one non gaming ad on my dashboard, a small tile in the lower left corner.

It's sad that so many people have the 360 and Xbox One completely mixed up. On the other hand you can directly see who owns one and who doesn't.
That shot was taken just a few minutes ago in the games section of the US PSN store. I took that shot.
I completed that game 1000/1000 and never saw one ad. Please show some proof of your claim.
PS4 store sucks balls for sure, but it's pretty much store-only. I'd like it to be better, but it doesn't really impact me much since the main console dashboard isn't littered with adds like the X360's is/was (haven't had it on in year now). That shit was just offensive.

Sorry about that, I clarified in my post that I'm a 360 owner and my brother has the Xbox One. I have a PS4, but use the Xbox One for exclusives that interest me.

im just saying in Australia I've never ever seen an ad for a Car or Hungry Jacks lol and to me its fine to advertise stuff 'from' the store I don't want fast food ads on a console lol

Ads don't even show up on PS4 during normal gaming experience. In the store they are categorized correctly (no movie ads in "games" tab), have an appealing layout, and a very user friendly UI.
I see a friend play Max CoB on X1 and there are fucking ads right there when the game starts up. Before he can access the menu he has to close the giant ads app that pops up.

I actually disagree with you a great deal, but that's what opinions are all about. I can see how you might think it's "busy" but the biggest icons things are dedicated to your stuff/friends. The "ads" (which often are not actually ads, but are rather system announcements) are barely there. The UI needs improvement in areas, for sure, but you're coming off a little hyperbolic.

I don't even know the PS store has gotten worse from PS3 to PS4, I've been using the webstore for a while now. I'm glad no ads are on the home screen though.

The Purge thing is a bit crazy to me since there are already too many tabs down the left side, why add an entire new tab just for an ad?

I miss the old PS Store. If there was any new DLC, new games, or any other new content, it was placed somewhere where you can easily find it. I had to search for the new BF4 DLC and any new PS+ offer.
And seriously, the sections in the Games column need to drop down a list of recently added content, not a slow sidescroller of any popular titles that exist in a section before you can see the 'other' stuff. That shit is annoying.

Let me help you out: that stuff is not in all the regional stores. As I am learning myself. Those are Canadian shots above that I posted and there are no movies or any other kinds of ads outside of games in the games section.Caayn said:
