Really needs verified, but damn interesting if true. I wonder who got the boot.
Lucas maybe (though I dont see him taking much more time than Lucina would)? Snake?

But anyway, it's kind of funny, every time the leak runs into a bump in the road, there's Sakurai out of no where dropping tidbits of development that explain the bumps.

First "Pokemon from X/Y" being vague, was used as a reason to doubt the leak, until we learned later that was Greninja's development name

Now with Chrom not being in and Lucina and Robin instead, we find out Chrom was likely cut very late and replaced with Lucina as a clone. Either the leaker had no idea about Robin, or didn't mention him/her like he didn't Rosalina.

I think the leak is entirely true and there's now a good excuse for the Fire Emblem misstep.

It does give more credence to the leak, but this still proves that it's no longer gospel. 2 characters added later in development and one cut. It's totally possible that Shulk or Chorus Men were cut too, or that a bunch of different characters or clones have been added over time. Regardless of the source, we still don't really know anything for sure until we get the game.

For one, if the 6:1 unique character to clone ratio is still true, this at least tells me that it's unlikely Lucas is still cut. Chrom's absense should provide enough time to at least get him in there. But, then again, like I said, we don't know anything.
 
Until I get someone to translate the famitsu scan directly, I'm not believing a word of that.

It's not that I care a lot about them cutting anyone or Lucina being an alt or not, it's just that this shit leads to all the dumb arguments that are based in misconception and incorrect info.

Look: People are already talking about this like it's established fact when we really have no proof or source. It could totally be true, but all rumors are rumors until proven true.

That's what I was thinking.

Even if Gematsu is again justified, we now have further evidence that it isn't comprehensive. I just really hope the Lucas cut thing turns out to be wrong though.

This theory would coincide with why Greninja wasn't specifically mentioned in the gematsu leak.

But then the problem would be Robin. Did they decide on Robin after cutting Chrom?

Yeah, I'm having a little trouble picturing a scenario where they were developing Chrom, Robin and had Lucina as an alt for Marth coincidentally and Chrom is the thing that fell through.

Rosalina wasn't mentioned in the leak, either. And technically, the leaker never explicitly said that the characters in the later leaks were all that remained. He just said they're coming. He didn't say there weren't others.

I'm not saying Gematsu is fully believable again, but I'm just saying I can see possible explanations.

Sakurai: We also had L-canceling, wavedashing and a new mechanic that would've made the game even faster than Melee, but I hate the FGC, so the code went to the recycle bin
 
The Gematsu leak can still be scrutinized for not accounting for Robin regardless of Chrom not making playable. If those translated comments are correct, that means Robin was always going to happen. I still believe that we're getting Shulk and the Chorus Kids [I've had no reason to doubt the characters listed] though. I also believe that we might be getting one or two more Robin/Rosalina situations too.

All this character drama is interesting, but I really just want confirmation of Ganondorf and Snake. Dorf pretty much has to be in given the lack of Zelda representation compared to other franchises, and Snake... well he just needs to somehow make it in =/

I really like living in a gematsu leak-free world. It opens up hope.

The famitsu thing bringing us back to gematsu makes me cry.

In any rate, can we all agree that it's quite sad that some characters were cut and that until we get Disc Data, it's pointless to think and argue about it because we have no information about any details.

Please let's not turn this thread into a Leak Trench War again. We were finally out of it. >_>
 
All I'm seeing in the provided blurb is that they added Lucina because she would be an easy extra character to add. Nothing about cuts, from what I can tell. Going to keep looking at it, and would like second opinions also.

Still, I don't understand what could've happened that would necessitate Chrom being cut if he was planned from the beginning, especially since they just gave his spot to another Fire Emblem character anyway.

We need someone to verify this translation, and I donno. I think there could still easily be more clones.

Really wonder who got cut. It likely either had to be someone who was troublesome to develop or someone they lost the rights to.
 
maybe we should to someone that speaks japanese to translate that image before to start to make assumption on who got axed in the roster
 
The Famitsu thing could be talking about any character, it doesn't necessarily mean Chrom. Fact remains that Gematsu never named Rosalina, never named Robin, and also claimed that Shulk was the character being revealed on Monday. It's been debunked from several angles already. At the very least it is not the full extent of the roster, and honestly I find the whole thing suspect as hell.

That really explained about rough skeleton program with Lucina since few animation seem to be little wonky and somewhat off.

Yeah, I know. There are few concerns that I having with those Famitsu informations.

1. Who is the cut character, and which void did Lucina just filled out
2. Sound like DLC might be out of question since they had to quickly fill out the roster instead of waiting and patch it later with DLC characters.
3. I wonder how long Robin have been planned to be in the game because Gematsu didn't specifically leak Robin.
