Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 10: Against the Odds, We Choose to Hype!

Path of Radiance was my gateway to Fire Emblem. Broken ass Nephenee, blue haired RNGezus Mia, the endless amount of humor my siblings and I would derive from Rolf's existence/continued bad positioning on a map only to get Black Knight-d™ in certain chapters, ASHNARD, feeling like a GOD when Ike got his Lord promotion + Ragnell and essentially became a one unit demolition squad...

So many memories. :D

We don't know for sure. I think it's better to wait for Masked Man or Street Ahead to get their hands on a copy.
I came in late so the first thing I saw was Ryce's edited post saying this was wrong.

Didn't Sakurai once say he wasn't a fan of outfits that were new characters (rather than references to) or am I remembering something completely different. If my memory is correct the idea he'd make Lucina originally a costume is odd.

Super Smash Bros variant covers for upcoming Sonic Universe, Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog issues:

???

Nephenee is indeed the best though, also Rofl sucks

I actually never played PoR until RD came out. I played them one right after another, so really they both wrap up into one, massive FE game for me.

Truth be told, I have yet to actually play Radiant Dawn. Most of my knowledge of the game comes second hand. I blame it on missing the small window of time when Nintendo World here in NYC used to sell Radiant Dawn at rational prices because I got my Wii during the summer of Mario Kart and Smash and thinking I could chance finding it again later.

Then it became $80 on Amazon and I was like "PRICE DROP OR NO SALE"
Then it became $110
At one point, I think it was over $200 for a brand new copy.

so i think you didn't really parse the dumb part of your statement

Oh I know.

I just don't like SRPG's, I dislike any game where I don't actually have control of my character(s) and I also hate games that lack challenge in 90% of the game.

If FE was anything like the chess game in mortal kombat where you moved units over the map and then when they battle it when into some sort of fighting game or something where you could actually play as the character then I might enjoy it.

It's also why Ness is my favourite character in smash despite not particularly caring about the mother series and the fact that he's shit in smash, I like actually playing as him.

Will not be surprised if tonight's PotD clarifies the situation with Robin's tomes. I'm sick of going back and forth on what I think haha
Masked Man retranslated it, and it appears the tomes also have a recharge period, like the Levin Sword. They can regenerate the same stock -- it just takes a while.

Yeaaaah. The prices for RD (and PoR, but I had a friend lend me that) are utterly insane. Biggest reason why I'm not already all over that business.

...like, for real, I remember seeing Radiant Dawn used at an EBGames for like 20 bucks once and skipped out because I figured it'd get cheaper or something. -_-

I suggest to you Project X Zone.

I'm not sure about that. I kinda forget about that comment. Now I just saw Ryce's comments. I can see where he came from but I'm going to wait for final verification from someone who have the book in their hand, which is more likely to be Street Ahead or Masked Man.

i think i got lucky and found a used copy at eb when i was just browsing lol

I assume if you die everything recharges though?
Won't know how much I like the system until I use it, but Robin definitely looks really fun to play.

Since we are talking about PoR and RD: I liked Radiant Dawn more. It felt like a grander adventure, and I loved how
they played with you by having you fight your former allies and all that stuff
. I just felt like such a big game the way it was executed. And having 3 promotion tiers felt awesome, too.

That doesn't mean PoR isn't an excellent game as well; it is. But I love every Fire Emblem, so...

I'm still happy I got my copy of PoR for 26€ off of eBay. I think it's been 1 1/2 years since then. RD I actually got from GameStop, so I probably would have been able to get it a bit cheaper, but it was well worth its price anyway. I think that was 2 years ago now. Happy times.

If nothing else, Robin seems like he has a risk-reward element similar to Little Mac, where certain aspects would be "overpowered" if not for other limitations. It's really interesting to see another character who works in extremes like Little Mac.

Ah yeah that is kinda neat. I don't mind restricting my aerials at all. But the second I go to use a move and all I get is a fart noise that's gonna be so frustrating! But I know my friend who mains Olimar is probably gonna love this

Yes her! I gave her Astra and one of the swords that healed as you attacked and it was like if you weren't wearing blessed armor or a dragon, you would NEVER hit her and she would leave entire sections of the maps Tyrannosaurus Rekt. She was too pro at evasion then would just put you into MVC3 style TAC combos. At one point in one of the old replays, we essentially narrowed our personal metagame to sending in Ike, Titania, Nephenee, Mia and/or an assorted collection of the laguz we could use and watching the carnage unfold.

One makes them feel funny, so their scared of it

I don't think that's exactly fair. I feel similarly about those weird anime Vita games. This isn't that bad, but it's still uncomfortable.

I don't want to get specific because it'll derail the thread, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

Besides, again, it's not just sexualization. We can think she's ugly regardless. Brawl Fox is definitely ugly next to Melee's. ROB looks dumb too.

I'm okay with the middle one. He first one is acceptable. The last... It scares me a bit.

Middle one would be tolerable if it had Sakurai's touch added to it. Other ones, especially the last one, really are ugly though.

I finished PoR long time ago and loved Awakening last year.
However i never finished RD despite buying it around the time it came out, now all this FE talk is making me feel bad!
