13 GB is a fair chunk, man. I'm hoping codes hit well before 6pm BST personally - if it's after 5pm then download speed will tank because everyone's home from work.

Yes I put it in standby last night before bed.
Also if you're having trouble accessing redeemed code page, try going through the actual bungie site instead of the beta site. On my phone when you go on he bungie site, you can access a drop down menu which you can use to go to your profile.
There should be a bar on top of your profile where there is a codes button. Try that.
Well if you think about it most people will be finished work etc by then. Not that I prefer this.

Well considering this is a massive beta, you kind of want the team to be around, you know if anything goes wrong or servers decide to fall over, which I'm going to bet is probably very likely.
Did you take part in the Reach or Halo 3 beta?

I understand that sony has said that the full destiny game would be the first to allow you to download beforehand, but at 12-14 gb download that hundreds of thousands will be attempting to download at the same time? Good going Sony USA.

Yep, taken part in those betas (and have produced a fair few for platform holders as well).
My point is you'd think a global (?) company like ATVI would have the appropriate resources to have windowed the beta release according to major territory usage. Mobile games with 100th the resources can manage it.

Also, I don't want to be branded as "the" console to get the game, I just want to get the game, and it's increasingly becoming difficult to do so.
This isn't yet a published project so doesn't yet fall under activision to support.
Bungie themselves want to look at the spikes and the data that is collected so they can better understand and finish of setting up server precautions and also gather any bugs or other issues that may occur.
I understand your comments, but this isn't to do with resources this is to do with Bungie being a damn good developer and wanting to stay in control in their game and making sure when it actually releases on september 9th it'll be the best it can be.
Your mobile game comment is very silly, I have never seen a beta for one....

There's physical copies you can get so I'm not seeing the problem unless you specifically want a special edition.
