How do y'all like the OST so far?

I absolutely love the menu/character select music. It's soooo good.

Also, Prism Tower and the Punch Out theme sound great!

As far as the Zelda arrangements go, I generally like Gerudo Valley and Fairy Fountain, but need to hear a clearer version of Realm Overworld. Ballad of the Goddess sounds a little bland, though. I hope the Metroid stuff gets a little bit more focus this time...

Fair enough. I just don't think it's the be all, end all of this game.

I don't think it's the be all, end all in the same way that Brawl being bad wasn't the be all, end all for competitive smash.

Smash 4 will be given a fair shake, but I'd rather it be the definitive version of competitive smash for the next 10 years than get dropped in favour of melee and project m 2-3 years down the line, which I could see happening in it's current version unless Nintendo starts putting money into prize pools in the same way capcom did for SFIV.

I'd actually prefer for them to just not bother dealing with any of it by using the 'prequel' excuse. All that would change is the main character's choice of eyewear.

But if narrative is really not that important in the grand scheme of StarFox, why sweat the details with designating it a "prequel"?

As it stands right now, the last "new" game in the series is almost ten years old. And the last actual game we got was a remake of 64. If anytime was the time to exercise Miyamoto's basic philosophy of "upending the tea table" and casting the narrative to winds, now would be the time to put it to use, I'd say.

One would assume it's accurately representing Smash Bros. characters with notable exceptions because Smash Bros. is a game about well-known and generally well-liked Nintendo characters and it kind of makes sense that there's significant overlap with amiibo advertisements.
Too reasonable for this forum.

I have been saying this all day, yesterday. There is no way in hell we have seen the game at it's fullest potentail in a few hours/days. That shit just doesn't ever happen...
I think some are being cynical for the purpose of being cynical and not having much thought/logic behind it. And at the same time, the opposite can be said as well where people will ignore any criticism and just be optimistic and ignoring everything (yes I said ignore twice).

Basically, people have crystal balls that suit their agenda lol.
Second move is her up special, and in this case, it makes sense the first aerial move has more landing lag. It is one of those fast downward aerials.

I think it depends on people's frame of references and stuff.

For me "Better than Brawl" isn't much of a compliment at all, it can still be worse to melee, and that makes me cynical, but then some people can hear that and think "Wow, it's going to be even better than Brawl?!" and think that people are needlessly complaining.

But that's not to say that melee is some kind of ultimate end goal for smash to me, I wanted sm4sh to be better than melee.

I genuinely don't think the game is going to be eclipsed by Melee or PM (personally I really don't like PM) down the line in its current state, though they look like they might start hosting tourneys at regular expos and could conceivably start putting money into prize pools regardless of how the game is. IMO the game can be improved but it doesn't necessarily need it, though if anyone here does want to affect change, tweet/message D1 since he's regularly corresponded with NOA on competitive smash.

I don't even see the problem. Is there a fear that a Melee character will come from out of nowhere and attack ZSS not following whatever new movement parameters characters follow in 4? And that looks quite natural for an Up + B move like hers. I'm sure there is plenty of hitstun there.

I think some are being cynical for the purpose of being cynical and not having much thought/logic behind it. And at the same time, the opposite can be said as well where people will ignore any criticism and just be optimistic and ignoring anything.

Basically, people have crystal balls that suit their agenda lol.

I agree with that completely.

Yeah, I think this is what it comes down to. Neither perspective is really invalid, people are just excited about different aspects of the games.

Part of it for me is that I don't want to let my hopes and expectations get too high. In general that rarely ends well.

I love that Lucina's side-b is still called Marvelous Combination. I always call it that when using Marth, nuts to this Dancing Blade BS. MARVELOUS COMBO FOREVER.

I'm remaining somewhat cynical because the last time I hyped myself over a Smash game, I was left with extreme disappointment. Yes, I know there are people who liked Brawl, but even as a non-competitive player, I just didn't enjoy it at all.

I played 14 matches during the Best Buy event, and the game felt eerily similar to Brawl. I'm hopeful changes will be made. As mentioned, as a veteran of the series, it's hard for me not to get excited about Smash 4, especially with the newcomers and their incredibly unique designs.

I'm just keeping my optimism in check to avoid a repeat of how I felt 6 years ago.

On the internet? Come on, now.

Sheik is Zelda, she's part of the holy triforce trinity. Even though sheik was only in one zelda game... it's still zelda behind that mask. Sheik is basically zelda's smash bros form, similar to captain falcon, who also did no real fighting in his own game.

lol never thought someone would came up with this

oh man the possibilities

Could also use moves from this:

I understand the feeling. I didn't like Brawl much, myself. However Sakurai has already addressed most of the major issues Brawl had.

There's a difference between skepticism and just being crazy about it. That's really all I'm saying.

Alright, I know rumors are more likely to be fake but it could happens tho.

Playable Bosses rumors

Do you think it's possible that it could happens? That's probably why Sakurai haven't really elaborate on Ridley yet because he could save it for Smash Wii U Direct?

OH MY GOD HEATH I didn't recognize you. I miss your old avatar (but this one is super great, too!)

The only reason I don't buy it is that he mentioned (and, of course, I don't have the source on me) not wanting to do much with the Gamepad because he was uninterested in giving one player an advantage over the others. He may have changes his mind, but I think it's going to be similar to how Brawl pretty much ignored motion controls.
