Alright, I know rumors are more likely to be fake but it could happens tho.

Playable Bosses rumors

Do you think it's possible that it could happens? That's probably why Sakurai haven't really elaborate on Ridley yet because he could save it for Smash Wii U Direct?

It'd be hugely disappointing, so it's definitely possible.

The only reason I don't buy it is that he mentioned (and, of course, I don't have the source on me) not wanting to do much with the Gamepad because he was uninterested in giving one player an advantage over the others. He may have changes his mind, but I think it's going to be similar to how Brawl pretty much ignored motion controls.

Those conversations were for E3 2013, right? He was probably still developing the basics of the game, including remaining characters, modes, etc. He made it sound like if he did gamepad stuff, it would all be an afterthought to the CORE of a good smash bros. I doubt he was thinking about Amiibo E3 2013, either. I'm sure there will be SOME gamepad support, but he probably had nothing planned last year, yet.

Well, what about NFC on GamePAD only but for granted, we still don't know how it would work. We could summon our NFC during main menu before we start the battles.

That's definitely a possibility. If it's revealed it won't blow my mind or anything, I'm just in the probably not category. I'd rather it not be a thing, as it sounds like something I'd play a few times and then go back to wishing Ridley was in the game proper.

Also true, but as you said, we have to see how that comes into play.

I think I found my antithesis on this planet. The one person who is the exact opposite of me.

Basically, the way I get it is that he wasn't building ANY part of the game around the gamepad. He was building a good cross-platform smash bros.

Heck, if you remember during the E3 2013 developer direct, he mentioned for the 3DS that they were 'looking into ways to utilize' the face that each player has their own screen. Implying he had no solid ideas implemented yet. Now we have smash run, targetting an opponent (by tapping on their icon on the bottom screen), and something else I can't remember...?

I think it'll be similar for gamepad. Stuff put in that's a nice bonus, but the core game does not revolve around it at all.

I don't like that idea about playable bosses

The thing that bugs me about that idea is, especially if characters like Ridley and king K. Rool are included, that locks out characters for 3DS players. They may not be "full" characters but they're still version exclusive characters. A gamepad god-mode would be preferable.

Regardless of the validity of the rumors, I think that's a fair possibility.

I have a hard time seeing Yellow Devil being playable though; his animations don't look detailed enough. So maybe it wouldn't be all bosses. Or it would be playable in a very different sense... kinda like Master Hand in Melee, just press this button combo (in this case icon on Gamepad screen) to start this attack pattern.

Would be nice if Ridley gets at least that. Ideally I'd prefer something more akin to Giga Bowser in PM by holding R; ridiculous and oversized characters you can play as, but they're clearly not normal characters or part of normal gameplay.

Lucina ain't gonna be pleased

:(
Sheik is Zelda, she's part of the holy triforce trinity. Even though sheik was only in one zelda game... it's still zelda behind that mask. Sheik is basically zelda's smash bros form, similar to captain falcon, who also did no real fighting in his own game.

oh man the possibilities

Could also use moves from this:
wii version teamed up with 3ds version, unique moveset for each version xD

How did I not know about this...?

Out of boredom, I just did this.

Super Mario is the clear winner by now, but I suppose both Zelda and Pokémon will end up tying at five characters. I'd like if Metroid and Donkey Kong had at least one more each (even Star Fox and Kirby had three characters in Brawl), but I don't count on it.

Mario should get a 6th heck even a 7th if we go by importance.

Bowser Jr and Koopa please.

Playable bosses sound as bad an idea as playable Assist Trophies.

They'd be fun, especially for people who aren't good at smash bros. This happens to me a lot. It's usually when we're forced to play timed matches (because they lose their 3-4 stock in under a minute flat). These people also get really bored really fast because they lose so often. Imagine saying 'ok, fine, you just wreak havoc and try to kill us all, go!' They'd love it.

This is perfect for little kids, newbies, people who have no interest in improving, etc, but everyone else likes and wants to play smash bros. It's a good way to keep them entertained.

But but Villager tripped too

That's his dash attack, no? I mean random tripping.

I quite like the idea, personally.

I mean, I'm assuming/hoping that the WiiU version will have some kind of "Stage Controller" possibility with the WiiU tablet as an honorary fifth player creates chaos in his entourage by spawning a Heart Container next to a last-stock, 145 % player. Having a playable boss he can hijack when the time is right would be a natural and good extension of such a concept.

I'd really love it. In my circle I'm by far the best at Smash, so I either have to gimp myself somehow or constantly pass my turn so the others can have better fun. I could see myself really enjoying a tablet mode to interact with my friends without killing their fun.

No way it's real. Playable rosters are the same on both systems. It's been said. The choices for bosses are also very different from the bosses in the SSE. Notice how the ones mentioned could easily work as actual characters- while bosses in SSE were gigantic and would be hard to create movesets for.

Doesn't seem like Sakurai's style to pinhole a character to an exclusive mode either.

Sakurai has been a troll this entire time. That's why he's teasing Ridley. The problem is that it's hard for us to determine if he's teasing him as playable or if he's teasing him as a "Ridley is in the game! As a stage hazard!" Just look at Chrom and his reveal as a final smash...such odd wording there.

Cool! Yoshi might be more appropriate in the Super Mario category though.

I'm not a huge pokemon fan myself, but something about the selection of Pokemon so far seems really satisfying. Several different generations, different attack types, each feels pretty unique.

Does anybody know what the current best deals on preordering the game are? I'm looking to get both the Wii U and 3DS version of the game.

I remember awhile back target was doing pre order a game for $1 get $15 off another game. Anything like that floating around?

I'm considering getting the game bundle for the Wii U that has the adapter and controller

Are their own reps yes.

If you wanna get techical , every mario character is just a Donkey Kong Spin off character.

What makes a character their own rep? A game or does it have to be a series? If it's just a game then peach should be her own rep as well since she had Super Princess Peach.

Agreed. It would be fun to help my younger family members win against computers, without just being on their team and doing all the work (because that also makes them mad).

Everything surrounding Ridley has been completely different to the way Chrom, Waluigi and such have been treated. Their status was revealed nearly instantly, in the same trailer / image as they were first unveiled. I don't think it fits with the way Sakurai has acted thus far to tease Ridley as nothing more than a boss or stage hazard.

Just put it onto teams and let them 2/3 v 1 you, it's what I do.

She had one game.

Wario has several games of two series.

And Yoshi has a series.

Like if they wanna make more peach games, I am down for that. But she only got the one, and she gets her powers from being overly emotional. So that's its own can of worms.

Am I the only person who feels like playable bosses would be really fun/interesting? As long as it isn't like a barebones MVC3 Galactus mode deal, it could become an extremely fun mode. Then again, maybe I'm biased since I'm one of five and we all play games like Smash and Kart and the idea of a ringleader or special player that gets ragged on by the other four sounds cool.

Both Yoshi and Wario have their own series of games with very distinctive and different gameplay than the Mario games. They've earned being their own rep.

Yoshi, much like Wario or the Kongs, is part of the greater Mario franchise, but in Smash Bros., he is identified by his own series. It doesn't matter what you think. Yoshi has been repping his own series in Smash since 64.

Also, Super Princess Peach and Luigi's Mansion both tie themselves to Mario (by actually also featuring Mario). Many of the Yoshi games, and all of the Wario and DK games do not involve Mario in the plot/gameplay somehow.
