East coast here. Pre ordered on PSN. At 1pm, I went to PSN store, clicked the destiny beta page which is like the first thing you see. Instead of directing me to a preorder page like it used to it took me to an actual beta download. It added the client and update file to download queue. Took a few seconds to download both. Opened the client and it took a few tries for it to connect but within a few minutes it started to download the actual meat of the game.9% in right now after about 4 minutes of downloading. Even without the convenience of a perinstall, digital preorder made this a much more pleasant experience than what I'm seeing here from people who have to get their codes via Bungies site.

Even when paying for their "service" the thing can't handle the traffic, it looks like it actually got worse than in the PS3-era.

Isn't everyone connected? Ps3, PS4, and Vita. So its worse than ps3 era because it just has another console to support now. Maybe it doesn't work like that I don't know.

Is it to much to ask for more/better psn servers though?

So can someone verify if the EU method works? It's locked me for and says it needs to be started by the person that has license to do so. But when I go into my EU account, it just says "Cannot start"

Wrong thread. Plus I think people should hold off giving their codes out until traffic calms somewhat. People who genuinely pre-ordered can't even play the darned thing never mind adding more people to the equation.

I'm prepared for it to be worse. MMO's on PC never launch cleanly, and that's without the added infrastructure of PSN or Xbox Live to muck things up. It is what it is at this point, just hope the downtime is minimal.

Currently waiting for a PS4 notification to pop, digital preorder. Was skeptical about the process and remain so but if it works as intended hopefully it'll be relatively painless to start downloading.

Star Wars: The Old Republic launched without problems in Europe at least. So don't drag all titles into it.

Really sucks, one would think with Europe's pre-load this wouldn'nt happen.

Finally for the PlayStation store to open but it's taking forever to redeem my code. It's just sitting there loading.

Also, after many attempts trying to go directly to bungie.net, I went to the email they sent me days ago where I pick my console, clicked the link in the email and it took me straight to my 3 codes without getting any errors of the site being down.

I love the temper tantrums that get thrown when an inevitable server overload happens. They always get fixed, but people can never wait or show patience.

It shouldn't be acceptable for these servers to not be up for this sort of stuff. When WoW launched 10 years ago, we were having server issues upon launch. Nothing has changed in 10 years. If people continue to be OK with server outages on launch, it will keep happening.

I'm curious about this too.

Pretty sure it's just the initial 12.x GB download(14x/15 installed). A small client is downloaded, which then downloads the rest in the background. BUT you can run the client and have a prettier screen while it performs that download.

Same thing happened to me. I just refreshed and the codes slowly loaded in. So just try reloading the page and they should come up. Now I just have to wait 7 more hours to get home

Once you input the first code you have only 1 minute to input the other 2, otherwise you'll be locked out of the beta.
