Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 10: Against the Odds, We Choose to Hype!

I didn't wanna spoil it but to me he was pretty cool.

Also isn't meta knight an anti hero not villain?

He's still a boss fight at times.

Hmm, I'm not entirely sure about DLC characters since Gematsu finally got debunked so I don't think we will ever get DLC characters.

I know, but it's always a possibility. Them disbanding after launch doesn't mean they can't be working on DLC right now.

Please point out to me Ganondorf and Master Hand. All I see are dubious depictions of Bowser and Ridley in a split-second screen capture.

Am I seriously arguing about this in 2014?

I can't find the picture where they're traced out. Someone help me out here.

Except that they did, 100% amount to everything. All the villains in the cloud were all the villains from subspace.

Bowser, Ganondorf, Master Hand, and Ridley were all villains in subspace.

Yes. My God it's so annoying how people dismiss this picture and make fun of those who said Ridley was playable because of it. The images in the clouds are CLEARLY those characters, it simply meant something else. How can people not see them

Good point but that meant they might have to be very careful with balance with DLC characters if it happened but I wouldn't get my hope high for that.

Right before E3 this year, didn't he also get Mii Fighter by that exact name? That's a point in his favor. But yeah, he's done a good bit of BSing. He probably saw "character from Awakening" and just assumed it was Chrom, and the whole "enjoy my good friend shulk!!" thing was totally made up because he thought he was safe.

Aren't his confirmed hits with unbelievable accuracy(first leak with Wii Fit Trainer, third leak with "Mii fighter") all from around different years' E3? Maybe Gematsu's source can only actually get reliable information around E3, and everything else (2nd leak, 4th leak) was basically speculation?

Other fighters have had balance issues w/ DLC characters, right? Usually they're just not tested enough. I think SF4 AE had an OP DLC character. Yun/Yang one of them, and it wasn't until the next revision they were nerfed.

:)

Oh my god are people actually retroactively trying to justify the fucking cloud bullshit from pre-Brawl.

Good fucking god.

It's just very clear to me that if someone can (without trying too hard) make sillhouettes of Bowser, Ridley, Master hand AND ganondorf in the clouds, *AND* they happen to be the villains of subspace, that it was probably intentional on the dev team's part.

I can totally see how it seems like crazy man rambling to me, but I see it as foreshadowing.

The shot of those clouds in the actual cutscene is so fast, with the clouds always moving, that it would be quite the task to actually lay them out that way.

...How nostalgic.

...Master Hand's clearly missing a finger.

Time to bail. Sorry if I'm coming across rudely but I'm not discussing the clouds seven years later. Enjoy Ridley
when he's at best a playable boss. Next best thing, right?

The Smash sub-reddit was actually discussing this earlier today. The picture is a bit nicer though.

Someone brought up an interesting point. Not sure if its been discussed. Just throwing it out there to see what you guys think.

I believe Impa has pretty decent chances, actually.

Speaking of smashin' ladies...

-Peach
-Zelda
-Sheik
-Samus
-Zero Suit Samus
-Rosalina
-Palutena
-Lucina
-Female Villager
-Female Wii Fit Trainer
-Female Robin
-Female Mii

Right now there's enough Smash Ladies for a complete Super Bash Sisters 64 roster!

((I'd love if there was an easter egg in the character selection screen where it switches to Super Bash Sisters mode, complete with different menu aesthetics and Palutena serving as narrator))

Well he claimed Little Mac, Pacman and Miis were gonna be revealed at last years E3 and that never came to fruition either.

No, its not.

Clouds, mist.. are rendered using a different method. They are not made of polygons, but by "masses", they are pretty gpu-intensive to create in real time, but those cutscenes are pre rendered anyway. :p

Outdated argument in defense if that leak does not work because the leaker claimed 100% that Shulk would be shown on Monday. That implies they are still up to date, however, they were flat out wrong, and there was no last minute change because the magazine article was already set up to have Robin and Lucina to compliment the online reveal.
The leaker didn't say 100% that Shulk would be shown on Monday he simply said "Enjoy my good friend Shulk." After Robin and Lucina were revealed that's when he said that Shulk is still 100% coming.

Did they admitted that they made Yun or Yang too strong on purpose or something like that? What if Sakurai wouldn't balance the game after DLC characters? That's one of my concerns.

Its not so black and white though. The fact that with the exception of Rosalina, the leaker has accurately predicted every new addition to the game until now is no small feat, especially when it includes characters very few would predict like Wii Fit Trainer. We'll probably never know the full story, but I think people are right to assume that the leaker got good information in the initial E3 leak last year and since then has either gotten fake information or is just blowing smoke out his ass.

It does cast doubt on his newer reports such as Shulk, Chorus Men, Lucas getting cut, and DLC fighters.

Anyway, I remember when people were scared that we weren't going to get many newcomers this time around. We're at 11 (13 basically) and I expect them to exceed (yes, exceed) Brawl's newcomers. A round 20. Call me crazy.

I just hope all or almost all veterans come back. In fact if I could choose, I'd rather know right now the full veteran roster instead of the newcomer one.

not necessarily, it would depend on how they animated the clouds.

If they used emitters (fixed point that creates an overlapping image with various calculated randomized intervals) then yeah it would be hard as hell to get that to work accurately.

HOWEVER, if they did it by key-frames, then the frame in the gif would be a Key Frame: A dedicated fixed point specifically crafted to convey that image. then it would be a series of breakdowns and inbetween frames in order to fill in the blanks. But that would most likely be tedious as hell.

Ono admitted he purposely made the Twins overpowered in order to create player solidarity and have people work together to beat them. This obviously backfired because everyone instead flocked to them. Hence 2012 edition.

It's possible :) It'd be nice to have some confirmation from sakurai, et al, if we're just seeing things or if it was intentional. I very clearly see ridley and ganondorf's silhouette. Master hand (who isn't even a face) i don't really see without the outline pointed out. Bowser is a bit rougher, too.

I totally acknowledge that it's a possibility the cloud formations are random, but some artist somewhere had to design them, so who knows.

Ok, i'm done before more people think I'm crazy :p

I know, but it does happen in the cutscene, it just cuts away so fast that I doubt it's intentional. Unless Sakurai is really that crazy.

Every frame of that cutscene had to be animated by someone :p
