remember to take all of this with a grain of salt, folks.

OMG, if they bring back SSB64 Hyrule Castle... *_*

wouldnt SR338 be a Metroid 2 stage? Its fake but I'd love a Metroid 2 stage. The wario taxi stage would be odd since most of the stages are based off handheld titles and Wario has a slew of them from debuting on handhelds to having two of his own successful spinoffs start on handhelds (wario land and wario ware).

Why would Wario Taxi be odd? The minigame collection started in a handheld Wario Ware game.

lmao, he was my main and all my friends stopped playing the game because of the wholesale slaughter that went on

if it weren't for PM Smash would be hella dead within our circle lmao

I personally don't care for PM, but I can see why people have trouble with him.

I never could understand why the little bonus titles were removed from Brawl. They were such a cool little feature (I remember trying almost every match to get Bob-Omb Squad.) But that Bonus Mode was something else. Total mystery to me how the game figured out a winner.

I always chalked up the removal of bonuses to the long list of seemingly cut-corners Brawl showcased attributed to a variety of development constraints. It is probably time consuming to come up with and properly implement all those bonuses.

i presume that trophy was in melee? never seen it before and i thought bonuses were in brawl just not as much and was on another page of the match screen? (i need to boot up brawl again its been a while so maybe im remembering wrong lol)

edit: huh well what ya know not here probably remembering them as those statistics lol

Metroid 2 stage might be kinda boring; the game's in black-and-white and doesn't have clearly distinct areas in the same way as super Metroid, Zero Mission, or Fusion.

That is so hilariously wrong.

Players at that skill level would never let you get items that would win them the game. They would get combod to oblivion. Once you are off the edge of the stage, you are dead.

Those players also know what the items do. They have played smash much more than just about every other group of smasher if not by far the most.

They only remove the items because it adds actual randomness to the game. No one wants a 10k tournament to be decided over who go Groudon in a poke ball.

Ding ding ding.

Also some of the items are really dumb, like the star for instance.

Thinking about it now, it sounds totally straightforward, but I remember it being a total mess. I think it was because it was too difficult consciously get any one of these bonuses without getting so wrapped up in it that you forget about all the other bonuses.

Then again, it's been years since I've played a bonus match. I should give it another shot.

I always chalked up the removal of bonuses to the long list of seemingly cut-corners Brawl showcased attributed to a variety of development constraints. It is probably time consuming to come up with and properly implement all those bonuses.

Perhaps, but it was Melee that got rushed out of the door, not Brawl, correct? If they could squeeze them into Melee, I'm sure they could have gotten them into Brawl. Hell, they could have just grafted the same bonuses into Brawl without creating any new ones. I'd be fine with that.

It's a Melee trophy. Melee's trophy collection was like a museum with a lot of single-player content loaded into its unlocking. Diskun is a great example of that.

Its been a while since I played the wario ware games but someone mentioned the wario taxi minigame was from Game & Wario. Ive only played a few of the wario ware titles so if there was a wario taxi I just dont remember.

I have two theories..

They ran out of time to implement

OR

There werent enough free memory to run hundreds of codes for every character*

edit:
*with memory, I meant RAM :p

A little late to the discussion, but I don't understand the logic of someone's "dream roster" excluding characters that are already confirmed. And frankly... we're quite lucky no one on the internet is handling the roster based on everything I've seen.

hey, i thought my roster wasn't that bad..

....lol.

Logically I would say it couldn't be the second one, but Brawl was REALLY REALLY poorly coded and the SSE took up way way more space than it ever should have. Every level had its own individual assets even if they was identical to content elsewhere. Every door, every enemy, etc were all duplicated with every single level. Hence the dual layers.

So who knows, maybe it could have been a memory issue.

The Taxi minigame in Game & Wario features Dribble and Spitz, who have been the host characters of the Taxi collections in all WarioWare games, since the first GBA one.
I am not entirely convinced that stage would be based on the Game & Wario minigame.

This is the taxi game they are talking about.

Though technically Spitz and Dribble, the taxi drivers, appear in all the Wario Ware games, so if a stage was to be based around them it could come from any Wario Ware game.

Actually, I meant free RAM on the Wii to run/refresh the codes :p

SMASHGAF!! you made me forget that today was the NPD thread ;P (you really did)

i dont post that much, by i read smashgaf often. It was your fault!! yes YOU.

*goes to see what happened at the NPD thread...*

A lot of bickering over the last few pages, my god.

Anyway, I have a somewhat off-topic question but I'm not sure where else to ask it so I'll just throw it out here, I suppose.

For PM, I've seen some tournaments live streamed that have this sort of overlay on the stage select screen which details starters, counter-picks, bans, and a couple other things. Anyone know where this comes from? Is it a seperate download, or what? I know VGBC in particular uses this.

If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it, thanks!
