So the lead animator of Skullgirls drew what it would be like to have a fatal frame character in smash.

Sounds cool, Sakurai pls.

Going to assume things will slow down next week unless we get more juicy details from these weekly famitsu stuff.

Yep, unless we got good update tomorrow!

I’ve never seen this posted before — Sakurai’s Microman figure poses compared to the final animations in Brawl.

That's very interesting. I really like how Sakurai used micro man figures to making up animations/moveset.

What do we think the chance of Mewtwo being playable is?

I'd say he's probably 50/50 at this point, unlike any other Melee character Mewtwo is still fairly popular and even had a recent resurgence in relevance thanks to his mega evolutions and the movie that tied in with x/y release plus Pokemon Origins. We know he was planned pretty far into Brawl's development and was cut because of Sonic and because of how much time SSE took. I think pokemon getting 6 slots is not out of the question.

Of course we also have no real evidence to assume he's in or that Sakurai would bring back a character once they've been cut. I got burned in Brawl assuming he'd be back because he had a unique moveset so I'll remain skeptical on his inclusion in Smash 4 until I see a confirmation.

If each post in this thread was a match in melee/brawl, we would be at 1% to complete the 1 million matches notice lol

19% considering all OTs

Yes, this was unnecessary

I donno, about 3 in 5 maybe? It's entirely dependent on roster size imo. 45 or below: almost none, 45-50: decent odds, 50+: very likely.

Honestly more then that it's will pokemon have 5 or 6 reps, if it gets 6 I'd say his chances of being in are extremely high, if it's only 5 almost none as that would mean he'd be getting in over Jigglypuff.

Anyone who is a Fatal Frame expert: If Smash actually got a FF character, who would it be, and from what game?

I know very little of the series, and I will probably never play a game from it unfortunately. Looks spooky.

Yeah, pretty much that. I think roster size will have a lot to do with that though. I'm really thinking there'll be 6 Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon reps, but we'll see.

I wonder what Sakurai's next project will be. Smash 5 won't start for quite some time, so I guess he'll make a game or two.

I'd almost certainly guess it'll follow a similar process to Kid Icarus Uprising, where he'll develop the gameplay, then decide if he wants to use an established franchise with it or not.

I'm not a big "rep" guy (I don't believe character selection is as arbitrary as that), but I really do think it would be strange for there to be four playable Fire Emblem characters and only five Pokémon.

Disappointed Robin isn't the stance switching character I imagined. I don't know why I did, considering the game. Still it would have been rad if he had one special dedicated to switching magics and that would effect the attributes of all his other specials like recovery, side b, etc

I don't care how many times you say franchises aren't limited by a certain number of reps, but there's no way in hell Pokémon will ever have more reps than Mario.

I think he's very likely. Highly requested, already has a move set, and four fire emblem characters arguably moves the barometer on how many characters to expect per franchise.

Yeah, the argument that there are many pokemon is just dumb. I think Sakurai made it pretty clear that he puts the characters that he thinks that will work. Mewtwo would be a given but the fact it hasn't been announced yet is worrying. Much worrying actually...

Depending no how you define Mario reps it already did in Brawl (6 unique movesets for Pokemon vs 4 for Mario). If you include Yoshi, Wario, and DK as Mario characters then Mario will always win.
