Ace Team doesn't get enough love. Rock of Ages was really fun and silly, and Abyss Odyssey looks cool too. That studio just seems really creative and unique.

I forgot that they did RoA. Really enjoyed that game, even though the time trials were unnecessary. Think I'll be grabbing Abyss Odyssey soon.

I think they might be one of my favorite developers, because they go so expiremental and creative with their games.

I absolutely adore Rock of Ages and think it's all around stellar, and it's really hard not to find the Zeno Clash games incredibly endearing. Abyss Odyssey looks like an interesting mash up of smash and rogue likes that could last a damn long time.

None of the GBeast Quick Looks have been particularly memorable except for the fact that Vinny sounds really fucking happy, and he's a pretty cheerful guy to begin with. Moving back to New York was a really good decision.

So the Giant Bomb community went nuts because a trans-person is on this week's bombcast ?

Some of you who were puzzled by my comment the other day of me leaving that community must probably understand now. Man. I hope Rorie perm'd some asses.

Late to the party, I know. But can you blame them? Going from a Jeff, Ryan, Vinny (and Brad) crew -to- Brad and guests and lets talk about a diversity in games convention! I bet most of those trolling the comment section never made it past the first 15 or so minutes even if it got pretty decent after that.

yes, i can blame them. the overreactions were pretty bad.

What? Of course you can blame them.

It's not like they renamed the podcast the politically correct mandatatory diversity hour or something

Also we had a bradcast a few weeks ago and everybody loved it mostly

I honestly expected Dan to sorta fill Vinny's upbeat attitude slot. He seemed like that kind of guy on earlier casts as a guest, but overall he's been pretty subdued. I'll chalk it up to nervousness for now.

Yeah, Vinny sounds really happy and excited all the time. I think Alex is also getting a lot out of doing (even more) regular content.

I'd love to see some East vs. West multiplayer stuff, as has been hinted by Vinny on his Tumblr.
Yeah, agree. Except for maybe the Divinity QL, but he seemed to get a bit lost there.
I was surprised to hear him talk about the game rather positively on this week's Bombcast. Not expecting him to play the game or anything, but a few more Quick Looks like that and he'll bite the bullet!

Now if they could only hire somebody else besides Alex to do QLs with him...

I finally got around to listening to the last episode of Scoops and the Wolf. The vitriol in this thread earlier was fucking gross. Completely uncalled for. Jesus Christ. That is all.

Was there any vitrol against that episode? I don't remember any. I remember Chuck saying he disliked the guest and such, but nothing more than that.

You might be referring to the latest Bombcast, but the "vitrol" (if there was any) was more directed at the assholes who reacted in a bad way on GB than anything else.

The main point of most of that chat was that it was interesting stuff, although somewhat dark and depressing, and not content befitting of a "morning show" on the website. There was not insults threw around, it was just argued that maybe such discussion needed a better outlet on the site. You are overreacting.

Oh? I fell asleep watching that on my couch. Endless repetitions with only the slightest variations: an exemplary lullaby. Maybe I should give it another go at the desk, when I'm not tired.

I watched the Bot Colony stuff after not sleeping for about 36 hours, and still hard tears in my eyes. You really must be not in the right mood to find humor there.

The robots repeatedly having to say "Vinigawa McCaravellaburgito" was hilarious.

Also, I think Alex has been pretty great so far with Vinny.

GBeast has undoubtedly been the best thing to happen to Alex in a long time. You can just tell that he's been itching to do more stuff for the site.
Edit: Seeing my spelling error quoted on the page has the writer in me ashamed.

GBeast has undoubtably been the best thing to happen to Alex in a long time. You can just tell that he's been itching to do more stuff for the site.

Yeah, Alex was always pretty underused. He's a fun guy. Now the "most painfully underused" award goes to Rorie.

Rorie is amazing once he get going. He carried a 12 hour stream all by himself, and it was great (arguably better than anyone else on the team could). Watching him play Alpha Protocol was fun.

Totally. You can tell he missed his friends and co-workers (probably why he would come across a little overbearing when visiting SF).

I really hope GBeast is able to hire soonish, ideally someone like Ana from the old Whisky Media Tested days - a 'straight (wo)man' for Vinny and Alex to just bounce their videogame bullshit off. Robyn seems like she has quite a busy day job.

The downfall of tested can really be attributed to the exact moment ana left. The wang cast era was the peak of their appeal to me.

Tested is still fine in my opinion, but I always say it is now a once a week visit, instead of a one a day visit (like it was in the Whiskey Media day). They have some decent content. I enjoy a lot of the Adam stuff, so that helps. The podcast has steadily been getting better again now that Jeremy seem like a regular third chair.

They are even bringing back Bricked for a week! But behind their paywall :/

It's just a completely different beast now to me so it's hard to compare then and now. Yeah the stuff they do now is fine and probably appeals to a lot of people, but their old stuff had me looking forward to every bit of content they put out. Now I only visit once a month at best, or whenever I remember they exist or see their stuff linked from elsewhere. I understand why it is the way it is now though, so I'm not blaming them or saying they fucked up or anything.

Yeah, we view things very differently. Beast content has been nothing short of amazing so far for me.

After the split, one thing I quickly realised was the 'old stuff' I liked was mostly the WM/GB influence and staff who would be in their content. That environment seemed to keep Tested on a tight leash which prevented them from going too far up their own arse, but without that structure, you quickly realise that neither of them are good on-camera personalities.

I tend to find Alex hit and miss. It depends if he is trying too hard to be funny or not I think and that tends to happen when he is around Jeff so his stuff with Vinny has been ok so far.

Rorie though I just dont think I will ever get what you guys see in him. I have absolutely no interest in having him in GB content.

So, I'm not sure I really want to bring this Max Temkin thing back up, but I ran across this dude on Twitter (@liquidpenguins, you can look up his tweets if you want), but for the past few days he's done nothing but try to link Patrick and Max together. I can't help but think, "man, what a massive shitbag this guy is."

Yeah, I reported that dude. Wish there was more that could be done. He's scary level obsessed with Patrick. Kinda of brought home the TED talk stuff Patrick did a few months back. There's something wrong when you're that dedicated to tearing someone down.

Kinda agree on Alex, i think he was my least favourite guy, but the Vinny combo has been great and he's growing on me...

But can't agree on rorie :P

I think Will (and norm's?) fascination with "knolling" is pretty indicative of no one being around to give them shit for their antics (and I'm only half joking).
