I think it's pretty likely that there'll be another Playstation All Stars, but I think they're gonna have to pretty much start over from scratch to make it a more tightly constructed game. I don't see the novelty of the first game really ever working again with the gameplay it currently has. Just my opinion.

Does anyone know if there's a side-USB port on the GameCube Controller Adapter? I just realized that my Wii U's out of space on the hard drive, and my plan was to just download Smash U and a few other games to an SD Card, but apparently if I want to make room for Smash I need to blow $70 on a hard drive because there's no SD Card support on the system, and the hard drive goes in one of the two USB ports that the adapter needs to be in simultaneously, meaning I either can't use the GCN controllers or I can't play Smash if I go digital like I'd hoped.

Incidentally, can anyone direct me to an External USB Storage Device that doesn't break the bank? I finally gave up and went to get my free Club Nintendo copy of Game & Wario, but now I can't get that either because of this hard drive nonsense; I honestly thought SD cards were good enough, and it works wonders on the 3DS, but apparently, the affordable option's not available on the Wii U.

Wii U has 4 USB ports. You should have room for the adapter, and the HDD.
 
After all this discussion I decided to uncover the GameCube and find everything else that goes with it such as melee, gen controllers and memory card. Unfortunately I can't find the melee save file on the memory card and anytime its about to unlock Jigglypuff, get past stage 1 on adventure mode or play event 5 on event mode I get a disc read error. :( it was fun while it lasted though.

Random though: Too bad Pokemon Trainer isn't in Smash 4, since there would sure to be a Leaf alternate skin. Maybe even Caleb/Serena alt since they also have access to Squirtle, Ivysaur and Charizard in their main game.

I hope they do give it another shot, but yeah... after explaining how you get kills in the game, every person I've given a shot of PSABR usually exclaims something to the effect of "This is stupid... THIS IS REALLY DUMB!"
I've even had to step in to the occasional game to remind people that you have to super to kill as they've just been beating on each other to no effect :P

Which is weird.

  1. We can all agree that the For Glory mode was made with the FGC in mind
  2. We've seen people only play For Fun
  3. We can confirm the mechanics the FGC favours aren't available... in For Fun

I doubt that l-cancelling is in, but we've only ever seen people play on For Fun mode.

Advanced mechanics only being available on For Glory's plethora of FDs would be unfortunate.

Don't agree with this, it was made with the people who only played FD in Brawl's online mode in mind.

It would be battlefield and would always be 1v1 otherwise (unless I'm misunderstanding the "1v1 battles possible" thing).

He did design a part of the game exclusively for the FGC. I know that platform stages are used more often now, but lets not kid ourselves into thinking that For Glory is for anyone but them.

Competitive Smash Community =/= The FGC

For Fun/For Glory are only online playlists, not completely separate game modes. The demos aren't in "For Fun" mode, they're just playing the base game.

Why wouldn't the smash community be considered a part of the larger FGC? Because smash isn't a fighting game like the rest?

As Joe says, the 'for glory' mode isn't really about the FGC. They said in interviews it was made purely based off information pulled from online. A lot of players apparently played 1v1 in final destination with items turned off: the 'for glory' mode is made to cater to that chunk of the online playerbase, not the FGC specifically :3

For Fun/For Glory only determines what you get matched with strangers online. The mechanics don't change and there's no analogue when playing offline.

It's basically just different playlists for online mode.

The people who only played FD in Brawl were wannabe competitives who heard the fox only meme and decided to only pick FD online.

Sakurai sectioned them off into their own mode because people would just SD if FD wasn't picked at one point, that's what I've heard anyway.


And, yes, some casuals do play 1v1 no items, or even FFA no items (For Glory isn't 1v1 only, it just says that 1v1 games are "possible").

Incorrect, he designed a 1v1 mode with all elements of randomness removed for more serious players. It doesn't matter if people don't use FD specifically anymore.
 
I'm getting both version but won't stop playing the 3DS one until I get absolutely everything!
Thankfully it's confirmed that you can transfer your characters.
