Haha, whenever we start talking about Fire Emblem I start worrying for this thread's livelihood.

Well, Fire Emblem really have heavy shit stories, so it's not members' fault because the stories are just heavy on morale.

I still can't get over the reversal Sakurai pulled re: my expectations for Fire Emblem in SSB4. He subverted them in the absolute best way.

First, he redesigned Marth so that he is much more visually interesting.

Next, he brought back Ike -- something I was hopeful for but not completely certain would happen -- and he made him visually distinct, as well.

Then, he introduced the Coliseum, a truly grand stage befitting of FE's epic scale.

And finally, he eschewed the obvious pick of Chrom for Robin, a character who is far more interesting mechanically and visually.

He also brought along Lucina, who while a clone is just an all-around awesome character design.

And to top it all off, it was presented in the cutscene style of FEA. Just perfect!

^ Bravo. I agreed. That's why I really enjoy the picks of Fire Emblem in Smash 4. Sakurai did it right once again with his team!

While I don't think K. Rool has much of a chance, I suppose it's worth nothing that Brawl had a K. Rool trophy and a sweet remix of his theme, so Sakurai appears to have at least a modicum of love for him.

Well, I remain hopeful. If nothing else, I'd love for Sakurai to reunite the "original three" central characters from Donkey Kong Country/Super Donkey Kong as a tribute to the first game that launched a series and instantly made Donkey Kong into a relevant part of the Nintendo Pantheon again for the first time since the early '80s.

After all, if it weren't for DKC, who knows if DK would've been relevant enough for Sakurai to choose him for the first Smash game in the first place?

It's pretty much Pokemon.

I was thinking along those lines. This game's metagame has the potential to be absolutely insane.

And that's what I think makes it so exciting! The parallels between PKMN and Smash are pretty evident as it is. This could just be the next logical step.

I'd only lament that the likelihood of being able to give Wario a moveset that's more like PM's "Wario Land-style" moveset is likely not possible.

Yesterday I finished the main game in SM3DW(amazing game BTW) and holy hell that Cat Bowser is really cool, I don't know how alternate costumes works in SSB, but is there any chance that he'll be in?

I always thought that a better translated title would be like "Legacy of the Crusaders" or something. The maps are called "holy wars", but I think "crusade" gets that idea across better since it's literally a holy war. The Genealogy in the title refers to the fact that you play two generations in the game, so "Legacy" fits there.

To be fair the game makes this impossible as by default as the two characters in question lose romance points every turn unless they are next to each other, you either have to keep them together the entire game for a specific part where you can push them over the lovers threshold, or you have to exploit a bug.

Still I think the better example is from the priest and dancer characters

Questionable design choices like having to have units die to get other ones.

Not only that, but it didn't hide the fact that it was an NES game. The remake did little to modernize it, aside from reskin it.

I still think it was fun and appreciate it for what it is. If you're looking for something like Path of Radiance or Awakening, you'd probably be let down though.

Also, how's New Mystery of the Emblem's story? SD's story was really bad and simplistic because it was a remake of the first game in the series, but how does 3's hold up?

I don't know what series you're a fan of, but let's use Pokemon as an example. Imagine Sakurai ignored what the community likes and picked Trubbish to represent your favorite series instead of Greninja.

Sakurai didn't pick Greninja , he had X and Y slot for Gamefreak.Community didn't even decide on Greninja.Outside of Nintendo picks , Smash bros is his fan fiction in form of game.

Roy still appeared in melee first , how does that make him Trubbish in series that gave him existence?
