I donno why, but I'd really like to see them make Ivysaur into Venasaur. Up the size of him, give him a new final smash.

I'm also hoping there's an alternate Mega Charizard Y final smash for Charizard, but who knows.

Maybe because Venusaur is a god?

Well yeah, though I do like Ivysaur's design better. I think it's more that Project M Ivysaur is based heavily on sweetspots, and making Ivysaur bigger means having bigger sweetspots.
Plus seeing that big fucking thing run around the stage would be cool, and it'd be awesome to find out that the heaviest character in the game isn't some dragon nobody's ever heard of.

LOL

How quickly do you guys think the Smash OTs will settle down once the games come out? With all of the characters known, I'd imagine we'll see a sharp decline in posting. Should be interesting to see where this leaves the WiiU version by comparison to the lead-up to the 3DS version.

It will end up like Mario Kart 8, active for a while then dies off once it gets shoved into community.

That's me.

If Snake isn't back, I'd be very sad. :(

Snake was one of my favorite characters in Brawl, and I was surprised at how quickly I latched onto his playstyle. I think he's gone though unless there is a last minute Smash Direct in August with his reveal which isn't looking likely. :(

I think people predicting Lucas cut are crazy though. Only time I even believed in the idea was the Gematsu rumor until the Lucina/Robin reveal. I think he'll end up as another "Ike" which was a character a lot of people already counted out that still made it back.

If they hadn't already shown her as a trophy, I'd be rooting for Brittany (from Pikmin 3) as an Olimar clone, where the key difference is Rock Pikmin are mixed into her rotation. :-3

I think the only people counting Lucas out aren't familiar with the Mother series. There's no way he gets cut.

Ivysaur was already pretty good in Brawl. His neutral B is some seed thing and even if you're not above him you get caught up in this stupid fucking ass BULLSHIT

*throws controller*

But yeah, he's not bad.

I've said it before. I don't mind if they cut the character, just keep the moveset. It was easily one of the most unique.

lol after browsing more of the advanced moves on the old Smash website, apparently the trades that happen when two attacks hit at the same time is called a "Boing!".

Boing!
When two or more characters push against each other, sometimes it becomes difficult to land an attack. When this happens, an energy builds which can send your character flying in the opposite direction. This bouncy phenomenon is called a Boing. During team play, two characters can push against one enemy for a double-powered Boing attack.

I can't think of any Nintendo character that would work as a reasonable Snake substitute. Not to mention doing so would probably feel disingenuous to said character who was put in the game just to replace Snake.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love K. Rool as a newcomer, that was just a well timed avatar quote.

Phew, I've never avatar quoted before and was afraid I might have been doing it wrong.

I too would like K Rool as a newcomer, I'm a fan of big, hard hitting characters even if I don't use them too often

Also, you could make a case about Snake's moveset being entirely MGS influenced. Isn't that the reason he's so heavy in Smash? He feels heavy in his games, too.

I don't really want someone else to take his moveset.

Well when talking about someone else inheriting Snake's moveset, I'm more thinking among the lines of taking the basic gist and changing it accordingly to the character.
In particular I'd like to keep the unique abilities found in his weapon-based Smash attacks and specials. I am fine with Snake's martial arts being changed to fit that other character better, but the preservation of the keepaway/trap character trope is something I'd really enjoy.

Anyone from Advance Wars could fit the bill.

I'd prefer it, in fact.

Same.

Short of me getting my wish of "Classic Ganon" (LTTP-style Blue Boar with Trident), K. Rool would be another villain/heavy that I would love to see added to the roster.

He's the third worst grass starter (formerly second worst before Chestnaught appeared to join Megnium in shit tier)

By what metric are we judging this? Design? I'd agree he's worse than Torterra and Serperior, though I'd say he's tied with Sceptile and above Chestnaught and Meganium. If we're judging by in-game usefulness, he's definitely at least close to the best, and he certainly is the best if we're going off of competitive usefulness.

I've never played an Advance Wars game, but wouldn't you prefer an Advance Wars character to feel like they came out of that game instead of just being in the game only as a Snake replacement?

I'm against any new character being made into a straight Snake replacement, but I agree with your idea of making an original character that at the same time evokes some of Snake's old playstyle with explosives and traps.

Design. He's fun to use in game.

My rankings always been Serperior > Torterra >>> Sceptile > Venusaur >>>>>>>>>>>> Chestnaught > Meganium

Thems fighting words...

Venasaur is actually the best grass starter competitive wise ?lol.

In Gen 5, easily. Believe it's the same in Gen 6. No other grass starter comes close.
For Fire types, Blaziken is, though Charizard's up there now with Gen 6 (and I personally found him great since gen 4).
For water types, Swampert's been raining king for a while, though Greninja and Blastoise may have dethroned him with gen 6, I'm not sure.

Serperior represent..but chesnaught being worst than meganium is madness!

Also that question mark was a mistake sorry.

Yeah, as a big Advance Wars fan, I'd rather have an original moveset. I don't think Snake's moveset would fit well with a character there at all.

I'd rather they just keep Snake all together.
