I think Doc does have the best chance of any Melee cut just because of the possibility of being an alt, but I don't think he's guaranteed by any means.

Dr. Mario won't be in the game unless he's a separate character again, and I really don't see that happening. It's one thing for a fan mod to include him as an alternate costume, but I don't think Sakurai would feel comfortable unless Dr. Mario had his own name and taunts -- at which point the character's more of a clone and less of a costume. Male/female Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, and Robin make perfect sense as costumes because both genders fulfill the same role in their source material, but platforming Mario and his doctor persona have different enough characterizations to warrant being separate characters.

I don't see why Sakurai would be against including Doc after including Lucina.

I know what you mean, but I feel like Sakurai would be willing to sacrifice those things to include Doc as an alt. I would just do it as an homage and not worry too much about remaining true to the source. But that's just me.
To be clear, I would very much be against Doc having his own slot. I think it's a bad idea. But I think an alt would be great.

It could be a bigger pill that rotates like it does in the games, the problem with it being an alt though is it is too visually different from a fieball so the hitbox would be weird, unless it's like a pill within a fireball or something.

Considered, not planned, and he ultimately decided against it. Dr. Mario already exists in Smash Bros. "canon" as a playable character, and I don't think he'd be relegated to a costume.

I think it's better than not being in at all. In fact I believe it's the only elegant solution.
I think any resources, no matter how few, that went to developing Doc as his own character would be wasteful.
I seem to have an irrational dislike for including characters like that, when it's literally just an existing character in a different costume. Toon Link is different, albeit similar in nature.
What glitch is he exploiting to play as Bowser

It's an oversized pill being propelled from his palm. No alterations to size or trajectory could make it look any weirder.

Guys Doc is still Mario. He has access to all Mario things, including fire. I wouldn't bat an eye at Doc just throwing fire and using FLUDD.
I know it wouldn't be true to his Melee appearance, but if it's that or no Doc, I pick that.

That would be the easiest way, though it would suck to lose that detail. But if it means we also get Dr. Luigi I'd be fine with it.

Having a Luigi alt other than Mr. L would be pretty silly. It's the only unique costume I can recall him ever having, other than the time he dressed up as Peach. Besides, Dr. Luigi doesn't even get the head mirror like Dr. Mario.

I think the biggest issue with Dr. Mario being a costume is trying to figure something out with the F.L.U.D.D. Him wielding that while in the Dr. Outfit would look....off, and if he gets a unique down-B, then he'll be a seperate character. I suppose he could have a virus bottle on his back or something, sprayin' swine flu everywhere.

If Dr. Mario had a Final Smash, I think this would be too complicated an idea for it to happen, but it'd be cool if he jumps forward to the side of the screen similar to his home title and throws up a pill which comes down from the top of the stage and can be controlled in that stiff d-pad manner left and right and be turned horizontally.
If it touches a player they're damaged with high knockback and damage or something and it explodes, but obviously you have to chase them and get the pill to touch them. If a pill touches terrain or an item etc.then it'll explode so you'd have to be quick and careful, and it'd work similarly to Snake's from Brawl with a timer. You could also press up and slam them downwards quickly like in the actual Dr. Mario games, and try and catch people.
I would actually like Dr. Mario to come back just because that series is so fun and he's already made a Smash appearance.

I don't expect Luigi to get an alt at all, to be honest. Only a few characters will have alts, I imagine.
Parade Luigi would be pretty funny, but it seems to me that alts should be more important costumes than that. Parade Luigi is more or less a recurring joke in the RPGs, and Striker is just a spinoff sports game (in which every Mario character has a similar outfit.) The alts we've seen so far have all been more important than that, like Wario's overalls and the male and female WFT/Villager/Robin.
I could get behind that, especially if it's Wizard Luigi.

God I would pay (not a lot) for DLC alts. It's such a cool, relatively easy way to sneak even more fan service into this game.
