I did expect Robin to be Shulk, because I don't play Fire Emblem lol.
But eh. I don't think he gets to playtest it and likely just works in an art department. Probably saw Chrom assets and figured "oh hey it's Chrom."
Remember-whoever the source is was on the project at least as recently as sometime between April and June.
8 out of 11 (with hints of 10 out of 11) and having Wii Fit Trainer and Mii Fighter down to the name likely means he had some inside info. There's levels between being Sakurai and not knowing anything.

You don't get lucky guessing Wii Fit trainer and you don't get lucky knowing the development name for Greninja, and you don't get lucky knowing the official name of the Mii Fighters.
It just doesn't happen that he'd be so consistently correct but had just "gotten lucky"

The leaker clarified after the Robin/Lucina reveal that Shulk is still coming 100%. It wasn't a mixup.

That's (sort of) reassuring they're insisting they know the difference between the two, but did they explain what was up with thinking Chrom was playable? Not mentioning Lucina and Robin is (slightly) less weird considering they didn't know about Rosalina either.

There's a small minority of people who are completely uninterested. Everyone else is approaching with caution and moderate expectations.
Among the main concerns are the same stiff and restricted movement from Brawl, very high landing lag making aerial attacks unsafe, bizarre and inconsistent knockback scaling, combos kind-of sort-of being possible (better than what Brawl had but nowhere near 64 and Melee), balance issues, and the game generally favouring defense.
Wavedashing is kind of irrelevant, really. For whatever reason, a lot of people outside the scene seem to believe that it's some holy all-powerful technique that's intrinsic to the very core of competitive Smash. In reality, it was never that important, and most would agree that future games don't really need it.

I think it's more likely that the leaker had a list of names rather than a picture - hence "Pokemon from X/Y." I'm guessing the mix-up with Chrom happened because he saw "character from Awakening" and just assumed it was Chrom. Everything Sakurai has said indicates Chrom was never intended to be on the roster, so I doubt the leaker ever actually *saw* Chrom in the game.
If that's true, then Shulk is safe; he wouldn't have seen Robin and gotten mixed up, he would have read the name Shulk off a list (unless the list said "character from Xenoblade" and it turns out to be one of the other party members, but...that won't happen.)

You see, the reason I don't know about that is because he managed to correct the name from Mii to Mii Fighter at some point. Plus him hearing rumblings about struggling to finish both Earthbound characters and DLC being considered. I don't think he's seen just a list of names.

There's almost no way it could possibly be worse than Playstation All-Stars Battle Royal. Making it just Divekick with Xbox characters would end up better.

That was great, but also bittersweet. Totally agree that if Rare was still Nintendo-owned, we'd probably have Banjo/Gruntilda/Joanna Dark by now and Conker/Kameo/some KI rep would probably be getting debated just as much as Ridley.
Fuck the googley-eyed hating heathens, Rare's Nintendo stuff still deserves to be acknowledged and I'm glad Smash gives so many dues to the DKC games.

It doesn't take Nostradamus to guess " Pokemon from X and Y" which was what the prediction was, wasn't it? Wii Fit trainer was pretty neat though and I'll admit that seems like inside knowledge but it doesn't verify the rest.
Mii Fighters is whatever. Didn't people think Miis were going to be in brawl too? Not that farfetched.
I just don't put that much stock in these "my friend works at Nintendo" style leaks. Its like the kid in the playground telling you about the secret new Pokémon game that's coming out that his dad got from Japan- imaginary bullshit.
How does this leaker seem to get new info but still be out of the loop on things like Rosalina? If its old info its as good as useless anyway.

1) No one guessed the name Mii Fighters. He did.
2) The leaker has never admitted to what his relation to the team was up until he was wrong on Shulk's reveal, at which point he admitted to working for Namco.
3) Believe it or not, last year's biggest Nintendo leak was "my friend tests for Nintendo." I mean, the guy who leaked it was dumb enough that he ruined his friend's life, but yeah.

He didn't just guess Miis, he named them specifically as Mii Fighters. Any person could guess Miis, but it takes something to name them specifically by what they're called in game. Especially after successfully leaking several new comers that we're not likely, like villager, who Sakurai had specifically said would not work in smash bros
He's never said what his relationship is to Nintendo or namco.

Perhaps he doesn't do work with all the models. Suppose you never saw a Robin one, but saw Chrom's model? It's fairly detailed. If I saw that, I'd say, "oh shit, Chrom's gonna be playable." But yeah, it's definitely not a case of confusion since he does say he saw Shulk.
