Nintendo Downloads - July 2014

It was never the limit. Here's proof of a 128GB card being used.
I'm curious if anyone's tried filling a card formatted like this beyond 32GB.

A filesystem can report lots of space and operate fine until something tries to write beyond the boundary that some layer can't write to. I'm not saying it can't work, but it's also quite possible that the 3DS can't write past 32GB (NIntendo has only ever said SDHC is compatible, haven't they?) but is still perfectly happy to read the FAT32 header and report how much space it says is available. You can fool many systems into showing a large amount of free space like that simply by taking the first sectors off a real giant filesystem and putting them onto small media.

Pretty sure there's already several GAFfers using 64+ SD cards without problem, even past the 32GB part.

Actually thinking of doing just that soon, as my 32GB SD card is getting dangerously full...

My 64GB is about two thirds full with no problems real yet. Although I have noticed more delay in OS loading the more content I store. My 3DS XL is now slower than my Wii U. :/

Weird question: My NNID/Display name changed itself? It was Ray00101, but it's changed itself to knb717...why?

I did nothing to change this. I did however lose my 3DS...did someone change something there without unlinking the NNID? Therefore changing my display name?

Um that sounds plausible... by display name you mean your Mii's name, right? If you edit that in Mii Maker, then it is changed across all platforms.

(by the way, didn't you lose your 3DS a while ago, iirc? why not ask Nintendo to unlink the NNID already?)

edit: I just saw you in my friends list, looks like your NNID is still Ray00101 but your Mii's name is knb717

Like when I post on Miiverse or my display name when I play Mario Kart 8. My NNID is still registered as Ray00101, but the name that actually displays is that other one. Guess I'll go in to Miimaker on the Wii U and change it back. Then I'll go through the process of transferring the licenses over with customer service to a new 3DS when I buy one next pay day.

The last time I had to do this, no NNID existed for the 3DS. They can remotely unlink and transfer, right?

Edit: I lost it a while ago and bought a new one before the NNID stuff. The first time I just needed to verify serial numbers and wait a day or so before I got a call. This is my XL that I migrated everything over to.

Ahh, I see :( it must be a strange feeling knowing from afar that someone is using your lost 3DS. At least you can give him a shock when all those digital games disappear, lol.

And yeah I'm pretty sure they can decouple a NNID from a 3DS in the same manner as Wii U now, although don't have any personal experience with it.

I think it holds up well myself. It's a little different but it's still a pretty full-featured game. The biggest flaw is that all the Internet areas (only the home internet, not the "dungeons") all have the same theme, and the layout is a mess, so it's very confusing without a map.

And I believe they would choose the US version even if it had a translation because Ubisoft published it here, and their logo pops up when you start it so I'd guess they don't want to bother.

Oh, yeah, I forgot just how confusing the Internet areas were in that game. I remember getting lost over and over again. Fun game, though.

Really intrigued by Wooden Sen'Say. As always though I'm waiting for reviews/impressions and the inevitable sale down the line.

I've been really interested in this one as well. Might throw together an OT.

Anyone played Master Reboot?

Nope, but the trailer was pretty terrifying.

What's coming this week in NA?

We won't know till a bit later in the week. I think Wooden Sen'SeY has been confirmed, though.

Why would a classic controller cost $30-$50? Unless you are adding in the cost of a Wii remote, which the generic one also needs.

Oh I see. Ignore those Amazon prices for the official classic controllers, they are completely shot up in price (probably that whole Amazon don't stock Nintendo thing). Gamestop has classic controller pros for $20. I'm sure other retailers might have as well.

As for that generic one. It is a counterfeit. It is a cheap for a reason. Expect stiff analogues, cheap plastic, shoddy circuitry and various quality control failings (that is there being no QC, got to make it cheap, right?). Seriously don't buy those pieces of crap.

Hmm I will keep hunting around for a better deal on an official one then. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!

I'll second the advice you got. You can definitely find a better price on a legit CC/CCP. You could also try CAG, the B/S/T thread here, or even eBay.

Huh. Ok, so Battle Network will be mine. Honestly, I could see myself getting a bunch of the U eShop titles if only impressions turn out alright.

I wonder when we will finally get the Gameboy MMs, though. :/

Pokemon Link: Battle is not a great game btw, but certainly an effective time-waster.

Atlus sale items thru Aug 4th are (prices in CDN)

Soul Hackers $14.99
Devil Survivor Overclocked $14.99
SMT4 $24.99
Code of Princess $14.99

wonder how long until Conception 2 gets added to these sales?

Just to confirm real quick: there's no issue with updating to a new sd card with the locked save games like Animal Crossing when you have them physical, yeah? What about Pokemon Bank? I'm sure this is all fine, but I just want to make sure I won't have any problems with this stuff before I take the dive.

Pokemon Bank is entirely online, I doubt anything is saved offline.

And yes, switching SD cards is fine. I've done it with Animal Crossing data before too. Works fine.

Haven't got the PR yet, but

I was kind of hoping they'd release 5 & 6 independently the weeks before the 3DS & Wii U Smash Bros hit as a kind of promotion.

I never played them back in the day, I'd moved on to the SNES by the time they hit. So I'll definitely check them out. Haven't picked up X2 yet either.

They should port 9 & 10 to 3DS and Wii U to celebrate Mega Man's Smash inclusion. They'd probably sell pretty well.

I've got $10 in eShop credit from DDP, and I'm not sure what to spend it on. Earthbound? Pushmo World? Steamworld Dig and something else? Save money on Shovel Knight?

Anyone have any thoughts or notice anything I haven't mentioned? I'm more inclined to buy something exclusive to eShop or VC unless it's on sale and I own both a Wii U and 3DS.

Scram Kitty! http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=819433

(I do love Pushmo World, though.)

Two questions:

1) Is Code of Princess worth the $15 admission?
2) I've passed up numerous sales now for SMT IV. I've never played any in the SMT series but I'm interested in trying. I have Overclocked from a previous sale and haven't started it. Worth getting IV? Or better that I play the Persona games first? (they seem more universally loved)

Code of Princess is.....okay. It mainly suffers from rather bad framerate (& I'm not one to talk about framerate unless it's really noticeable), especially if you have the 3D on. I wanted to like it, considering it had some of the guys who worked on Guardian Heroes, but I just couldn't.

Shovel Knight not even close

Which one of theses shitty games should I pick from the MK8 Promo:
Mario & Sonic
Sonic LW
Wii Party U

Or should I get for example Zelda WWHD and sell/give away the download code?

SMT IV and the Persona games (well, at least 3 and 4) are all great games. Look at some screens or videos and get whatever you feel more like playing. Can't go wrong either way.

AFAIK, SDXC is backwards compatible with SDHC readers, they are just limited to SDCH speeds. Also, a device will only be labeled SDXC compatible if it can read and write exFAT (which the 3DS can't).

Maximum volume size in FAT32 ranges from 2 to 16 terabytes, depending on sector size.

Haven't played any of those games but I would get Sonic Lost World if I were you.

If you don't want to use the code for yourself don't redeem it for a random game and then try to sell it. Find a buyer first and let them decide which game they want. BTW, I'm interested if you are selling.

Alright. I'm trading Kirby in while I still have the chance. Gonna pony up the last $20 and pick up Fire Emblem Awakening. And borrow Mario 3D Land from my friend.

I found/finding Kirby to be much too complex for how damn easy it is. It's like they forgot to include difficulty in the game. There's too many combo moves for how little you have to use them. Heck, the bosses can be killed by just holding B twice over. I tried to implement my own challenge like going without powers, using them only once before ditching, ditching if I ever got hit, and more. But that wore really thin really fast since I had to do all the work myself. The 3D is perfectly fine though. Some of the backgrounds and a boss or two so far use it really interestingly. It's so clean and has none of that ghosting I usually see in them. I might have been able to push through it all a lot easier, if it had a run button. That infernal double tapping after every 3 seconds just gets to me.

But since it's so easy, I'm going to try and beat as much of it as possible in the next 24 hours before I trade it in. Funnily enough, when I was buying this, I thought I was buying Canvas Curse. That's the Kirby game I actually wanted to play.

Where's the ALBW first dungeon? ._.

Like two minutes after I started downloading I tried going to the eShop again and it said I required an update. Nintendo is on to me >__>

What does the update even do? Haven't updated yet because I'm letting the game download

;__;
Anyway, here's the actual update

Could someone sell me on the Wii U Pro Controller? The $30 Best Buy deal is tempting but my gamepad already feels good enough.

I got one because I wanted to play Guacamelee with my brother, and it's the only other controller that works besides the Wii U GamePad.

Also, the battery life is incredible, so for games that don't require the GamePad, if I want to use the Pro Controller, I can and not worry about being a slave to the GamePad's poor battery life, which would otherwise cut a play session shorter than I'd want.

Battery life really isn't an issue for me since I never play for that long and I have a Nyko uBoost which I picked up for $3

If you like how the GamePad feels (which I do) and don't care about battery life or have any co-op games that require the Pro Controller, then there's not much reason to get one, unless you'd just like one just in case. I mean, the deal's nice, and if you don't use it, I would think you could always sell it for profit in the future, I imagine.

Yeah tbh I don't even need it for CoOp. The only CoOp game I have that I would use it for is MK8 and I already have the Wii Classic Controller for that. Although I am tempted to pick it up now just because I'm a bit scared that it'll become hard to find in the future. My Best Buy doesn't even have any in stock. I was planning on just price matching at Target or Wal Mart if I were to get one

As comfortable as the Gamepad is, I think the Pro Controller might be the best pad Nintendo has ever created in terms of ergonomics and has amazing battery life (up to 80h). I prefer it to using the Gamepad when playing on the TV and it beats out the Classic Controller (Pro) since you don't need a Wiiremote.

Wii Party U is great! Keep in mind I was playing multiplayer with Mario Party fans - no idea how it is for a single player but I imagine not as fun.

better than any Mario Party I've played, except maybe in terms of mini-games. but the overall package is way better. Button Smashers and Sketchy Situation are just... wow

Which one is the game where the GamePad player takes a photo of his or her face and the others have to guess what face that player is making?

That's a blast if you've got the right people.

Double tapping every few seconds? I thought you could just hold the circle pad to the right. Or are we talking about two different things? I know I'm not going to change your mind on the game, just want to make sure I understand what you're referring to.

The tabletop games are awesome, too! Really neat feature.

Right, I know the one. I didn't play that yet but it sounded good. :P

I believe it's rated highly too. That's the other thing, the fact there are online user ratings for every little thing is great.
