GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY |OT| ...Who?

Fuck, im seeing this on the 24th with some sort of red carpet in front of it, too.

Does that mean no post-credits for me? :(
No post-credits until July 31.

"One bit of business for those of you going to the premiere tonight: There WILL be a tag at the end of the credits on Guardians of the Galaxy, but it won't be playing tonight, just as it hasn't been playing on the press screenings. It's something we're saving for people who go see the movie on the first day in theaters around the world."

GOTG between $600-$700million

Calling it now

700 million would be average for a Marvel film world wide according to box office mojo.

is Nova post credit even a rumour or just fan wishful thinking?

Watch it be Kid Nova lol

Do you have any idea how much red carpet tickets are? Some of these big blockbuster movies are over $500 just for a reservation. I'd be mad if people paying $20 bucks a ticket got more content.

Anyways, Look what I saw today:

You honestly think it's fair for someone to be mad over missing 20 seconds at a red carpet event? It's not part of the film. I mean I don't have a lot of faith in people either, but I like to believe that people aren't THAT particular.

Regular non-industry people pay just to see the movie. I know people that save up just to bid on an invite.

People are people are people. I've always been under the impression that seeing a film before release date always means potential lack of content.

Don't see a film early if you want 100% guarantee of bonus content. There's a reason release dates exist.

It was very good. Really great visuals. Very fast paced. Very funny. Very touching. Most characters were well developed. Good acting performances all around. Tons of cool surprises. If anyone wants me to get spoilery Ill hop over to the other thread

How would you stack it up against the other Marvel films? I think Cap 2 is my favourite at the moment, slightly edging Avengers.

I'd be more interested in a review from you than spoilers. Would you put the movie up there with what are popularly considered to be Marvel's top movies? (Cap 2, Iron Man, Avengers)

Also how is the cast handled? Were there any "Hawkeye" characters or did everyone get their time in the spotlight?

Did anything happen that has a big impact on the MCU as a whole?

Will the credit scene be part of the print and on the blu-ray disc? The answer is yes. When you pay for a premier you are paying a lot of money to see the finished product that will be seen by everyone else later on. It's what the damn word premier means.

Will it be easy to follow for a causal or someone with very little knowledge of these characters?

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate it?

I'd say it's as good as the best of them. Thing is, stylistically it's very different from the rest of them. It's more colorful and very otherworldly, and not in the way that Thor was. Thor was more fantasy like, while this is way more sci-fi - but not hard sci-fi, obviously. I feel like if Marvel can continue to differentiate the movies from each other in style in the way Winter Soldier and this one has, the movies will be better for it. Get more guys like James Gunn to let loose and really do their own thing.

Every main character has a backstory, though Quill's is the most fleshed out. Groot is the exception here in that he's treated more strictly as Rocket's companion and all his development is in the present rather than past tense. And they're all terrific; Gamora is the bad-ass straight man of the group while everyone else gets to play off of her. Drax is like the anti-straight man; he's so literal that virtually every interaction with him turns to ironic hilarity. Rocket and Groot are the stars overall, which is probably not surprising to any of you. Quill is pitch perfect, exactly as we know him in the books we love.

It does have one character problem that a lot of the MCU has - the undercooked villain, evil for the sake of it. Unless I missed something, Ronan's motivation is a little lacking and he comes off like some psycho fundamentalist who can't be reasoned with. That's as specific as I'll be about him. Nebula, on the other hand, whose presence is more limited, actually has some real meat to her motivations, which surprised me because I thought if anyone would be underdeveloped, it would be her.

Did anything happen that has a big impact on the MCU as a whole?

Yes. There is a scene with the collector about half way in that is going to rip a giant hole in the cosmic Marvel cinematic universe. Your minds will be blown. Think really cosmic. Super cosmic.

Will it be easy to follow for a causal or someone with very little knowledge of these characters?

Very easy.

8 or 9 I guess. Don't really care for assigning number ratings to things, but I'm high off the excitement and I had a really fun time, so I might not be especially objective right now.

Thanks. Great write up.

Also I changed my mind and want to know stuff. Please get on over to that spoiler thread!

Sounds like everything I wanted. I will love this film for the colors alone.

Thanks for the impressions. Can't wait to see this on Thursday.
