Giant Bomb #8 | It's a Hit!

Its just a new style of Quick Looks. The Giant Bomb guys record themselves playing and doing half the commentary on the video. Then they send the video to New York, where Alex dubs his half of the commentary over it.

I am not going to post it here - as it risks a telling off - but a certain journalist with a GB fixation said at the time of the hiring backlash, in response to why she was singling out GB - that all the toxic threats seem to come from said community.

In retrospect she may have been referring to most of the insults toward her specifically, coming from GB - as that the the particular nest she loves to poke at.

The point was more that polygon likes to hold itself above shit like this - it is the fourth largest games site don'tyaknow - but in reality, if you have public comments you are going to get trouble makers, however superior you think your audience is.
 
I like how easy Dan laughts at shit, because people laughing always makes me laugh. Reminds me of Vinny in that sense
 
Anyone remember which/when in the last couple of podcasts the email comes through with all the things about NC? From the state and trying to find it for a friend of mine

It seemed peculiar to me too, but then I figured I actually like it more.

A,S,and D are all one syllable words, and W is a three syllable word. It rolls off the tounge better as ASDW than WASD.

Is that really what happened? You not joking? I haven't been following giant bomb stuff very closely outside the new hires, i haven't even listened to a podcast since the 2013 goty stuff so i dunno if they changed stuff around. That reminds me i should catch up with the podcast now that i'm unemployed again.

Definitely. It was astounding. I have never even imagined the Giant Bomb crew covering something like that, but they managed to do so incredibly well. Have to give Drew credit for all the great qualities (technical ability, curiosity, a large comfort zone, etc.) he brings to the table. He's probably my favorite member at this point, when not too long ago I just knew him as the guy with a fondness for plane simulators.

Nobody here thinks that statement about the GB community is true and this isn't exactly a Polygon centric thread.

Just seems like you're trying to invite people to bash on Polygon or something.
 
Phantasy Star Online 2 is fucking insane. So many menus.

pretty fun, though. Respect to Jeff for playing it 100% in Japanese. I'm playing with an English patch (that is not really working very well atm, but still).

There's a certain charm to playing it 100% in japanese, but I'm pretty sure Jeff did play with the english patch (though it probably wasn't as much/well done as it is now) at some point.

I'm sure he did but I think at that point he probably had figured out all the important stuff by reading up on it before an English patch was available. Some serious dedication there.

Hope the translation gets fixed asap, though. I NEED to know what it all means.

Also, the cutscenes are fucking insane.
