I remember watching that. It was more like D1 didn't want to talk about Smash 4 until it comes out. CEO was the week after the invitational, and I'm sure he's under some sort of NDA with Nintendo. I doubt he detests Smash 4.

This is a D1 interview right after the invitationals. He's completely unbiased towards Smash 4, and it shows in his interviews/streams. I'm not saying the dude loves it, but he's been an advocate of promoting and welcoming Smash 4 to the competitive scene. A couple of days ago he said he's been in contact with Nintendo regarding the Smash scene.

D1 has gone on record of wanting to work with and for Nintendo. Even if he's not happy with something, he is not going to go out of his way to trash this game. He's going to stay objective and try his best to keep a good relationship with the Big N.

Yeah, HugS was way more critical than D1 if I recall correctly.
As far as the scene goes, here are a few reactions from some well-known players:
D1 - Working with Nintendo to foster community around Smash 4
Mew2King - Will definitely play Smash 4
Armada - Will definitely play Smash 4; said he probably won't play Peach
Hungrybox - Committed to playing at least for a year; wants to play Jigglypuff if she's not terrible
Mango - Recently tweeted something like "if Smash 4 is as good as Mario Kart 8, then we got this"; said he has interest in playing the USA USA version of Mario
Zero - Will definitely play Smash 4; eternally positive
PPMD - Committed to playing Smash 4 for at least 6 months; didn't see the depth he wanted, but expressed hope
HugS - Critical of game pace, and expressed doubt there would be enough time to implement changes
Ken - Committed to playing Smash 4; Got Lucina hype (obviously)
The most common critique were landing lag and movement options. Pretty much everyone said it was gorgeous.

I'm going to be really sad if we don't get a Color Edit mode. That should really be standard for all fighting games at this point (unless your game has tons of alt colors).
