Sakurai said himself that they are 'scraping the bottom of the barrel on reveal trailers'. I don't know about anyone else but I feel like 5 is too many. Unless not all newcomers get trailers. In any case we will know by the 27th if Bandanna Dee turns out correct.

Not all get trailers. I'd be surprised if Sakurai reveals all the newcomers before launch.

I don't disagree, but we did get two newcomers in this past trailer so two or three trailers left doesn't necessarily mean two or three characters.

Well why not? He's a character in the Kirby universe. Other than his name, he's fairly unique. A move set with a mix of his own moves, plus moves from Spear Kirby, it could be really cool. We don't have a spear user in Smash.

Sakurai said he didn't like how all the newcomer videos and such from SSE leaked...I think he's cutting out the middle man and is gonna have a video for all the newcomers, and reveal them before launch.
Maybe some veterans will stay secret though.

What's the point of keeping stuff secret? We'll know the entire cast of characters in like 12 hours of the 3DS Japanese release. If they reveal them before release they control the PR and initial impressions of them, waiting just leads to the Internet revealing everything and it's a lot less controlled for seemingly no reason.

Unlikely, not all Amiibo figures will be out at once, it is likely that by the time the second batch comes, we will by then know the entire roster through the 3ds version.

Sceptile makes too much sense. Fire, water, grass. Rep from multiple generations that span the beggining, the middle, and the latest. Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire remakes are coming. Sceptile has a mega. The only thing that is suspect is Sakurai said himself they chose Greninja very early in X/Ys development. Could OR/AS have been revealed to Sakurai near that same time?

I remember a photoshop of the final roster that floated around that a lot of people thought was real that replaced the random select option with Bomberman.
Well judging by a lot of stuff in the Gen V games I think they original planned ORAS for Gen V before moving it to Gen VI. Either way they probably planed a Hoenn remake as soon as Gen VI started real development.

Probably.
GameFreak has multiple teams working on Pokemon...I believe for example, like Diamond and Pearl and HG/SS were basically worked on more or less around the same time. So I imagine ORAS was already being worked on when XY was developed as well.

My only real gripes are in how close Bandanna Dee is to asking for a playable Koopa Troopa/Goomba and the idea that any one of the Dream Land helpers or Adeline of the same lineage could offer that much more while not bringing the previous imagery to mind.

I agree that it's extremely suspicious at first glance (especially the toggles; I thought that was dumb as hell) but upon reading more, I feel like there may be more than meets the eye here. Quick recap of the important details (so far):
- His source is employee who was fired a while ago but is still in contact with some people. Some of his information is current (from contacts), while some may be outdated (from his own experience before being fired).
- Miahstorm has been constantly replying to people's questions all throughout the thread, and has shown screencaps of the supposed emails he's received. Nowhere near as elusive as Sal is/was.
- CREDIBILITY: He said in a private message to a mod that Chrom definitely isn't in the game a few days before the Robin reveal. This is pretty bold if fake as Gematsu was still holy at the time. Similarly, he also said that Lucina would be a Marth costume with mask and no-mask varieties. We know that this isn't true now, but it was true at some point in development, and it's pretty specific for a guess. These are the biggest things in his favour right now. EDIT: He also said that Rayman was originally considered but not in the game. This was before the big trophy mindfuck happened. So there's that.
- He said that Bandanna Dee and Meta Knight would be revealed soon, and then later stated more firmly that they'd be revealed at SDCC. This is what's going to make or break the leak.

Hoo boy. I remember thinking R.O.B. seemed so unlikely after being a Subspace Mook, Wolf seemed too redundant, Toon Link was a dumb name, and the roster felt too small, and I was so adamant about these percieved-facts that I think a bit of me died a little first time I saw the final character select screen.
This leak sounds cool, but it all those toggles sound way too complex for Smash's design philosophy, and it seems weird that Rhythm Heaven'd get 2 Smash Run enemies despite not being a game with enemies.
I'm still surprised he got in for such a small role, but guessing anything about Rayman isn't too huge in my opinion; wasn't there confirmation that Ubisoft was belligerent to get him in SSB4 from the start? And the Chrom stuff would be a lucky guess, but a reasonable one nonetheless; I doubt Sakurai wouldn't feel weird with 3 similarly-built blue-haired swordsman in the roster.

Eh, the more information leaks give, the less likely...most authentic leaks are usually pretty sparse, and tend to only concern themselves with the roster.

Seems like a lot of wish fulfillment and the advanced techniques toggle thing seems like fan wank. That said, I would love to see Ridley, K Rool, and Shulk all make it in. And those stages sound like they would be cool too. Bandana Dee is a character that is so generic that I'd rather not see included, but I would put up with him if it meant we got all of that other stuff.
Anyways, guess we'll see in a few days...but right now I'm leaning on the side of it being not so true.
Also, I am betting Lucina gets a masked alt regardless of this information.
