PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

I wanted to check out Atelier Rorona Plus after reading some reviews. Never tried the series before, and this sounded like a good 1080p PS3 remake.

A few days ago I went to the store, and was happy to see the "Plays on PS3/Vita". It's crossbuy! Awesome!

Except.

It isn't.

For some ridiculous reason they say it's crossbuy but it isn't. Even worse, it turns out I bought the VITA version.

What the hell, Sony...

EDIT: Just checked the store again, and they seemed to have fixed it. It was seriously like that for about a week, though.

Super late on this, but I finally beat Thomas Was Alone last night. It was much better than I anticipated, but then I knew nothing about it going in. Clean and crisp graphics, great music, and some solid platforming.
the ending came up VERY fast, and was a little anticlimatic,
but I enjoyed it very much overall. Was a nice short, calming break in the current gaming rotation.
thanks for the replies guys!

anyone played
Witch and the Hundred Knight
Twisted Metal

I have the retail version of both games and they are still sealed - thinking of selling them off to clear some shelf space and hopefully get some money back...

(and probably get the digital versions on sale down the road)
Late to the party, but regarding Twisted Metal, the meat of that game was in online play. And the online community was dead pretty quickly. About a month after release I had trouble finding some games, but that could have been the time of day I was trying. But now? It's risky. The single player is a ton of fun though, and the split screen MP is great, but it has flaws. Split screen doesn't have all the MP modes that online has, it only has a few basics. But it has 4p split screen!!! And really, TM is all about DM and TDM. I say for 10 or less, it's still worth it, but I am a longtime fan of the TM series. TM:Head On will ALWAYS be on my Vita now, thanks to that "snafu" a month or two back.

I can't begin to explain the giddiness I felt when I logged on yesterday and saw the Superhero Sale. I picked up Lego Batman 2: DC Heroes (for my 5 year old and I to play) and Batman: AO (I've been looking for this for $20 so I was all beside myself when I saw it for $8).

Yay PS Plus! My god I keep wishing MS would figure this model out for XBL. I'd have the most amazing of console game collections if so.

Was it specifically labeled crossbuy or did it just have PS3 and Vita icons as playable platforms? A lot of Vita games are labeled as playable on PS3 because you can download them on it and then transfer to a Vita. It's weird and misleading, I don't get why they do that.

thanks for the responses guys

on the Vita, I don't really know what to feel anymore.
at this point, I'm just like if they don't care about the Vita, please at least get the games on PS4 so I can continue to remote-play it

sigh

Please, no. I've used Remote Play maybe 2 times total for Resogun, never really cared for it.

you guys.. i said "if they really don't care about the Vita"
if they keep the games coming, by all means! - I'll prefer it native on the Vita

but for the rest of the games (for whatever reasons they can't or refuse to bring on the Vita), make sure it's at least on the PS4

It was like that since launch, people were stubborn to not heed my and a few others advices that the Vita version was $40 and the PS3 version was $50 with no cross-buy.

I have a question about Ys: Memories of Celceta:
Does map completion carry over to new game +? Because I'm at 96,4% and
I have gotten both pieces of the moon mask and don't know how many percent the rest of the game will give me. If it's not carried over I will try to complete it now before the game ends

You know when a Sony event is coming up because the thread starts to get full of the 5 stages of loss. At least wait until Gamescon is over to be depressed. Meanwhile play some games or something.

When I searched for it, there was only one entry that showed up. Under "platforms" it listed PS3 and Vita.

There was zero indication that there were two separate versions. I wasn't confused in the least, as it looked just like any other cross-buy game.

Totally misleading.

Seems they have fixed it now, and luckily I have a Vita. Although I'd much rather be playing it on the PS3, which is the version I thought I was buying.

The DLC that came with it was cross buy, not the game itself. The store updated recently, removing the DLC, so that's why you're seeing it as Vita only now.

Sony fucked up, big time.

Apparently there are still people who make the Austria/Australia-mistake.
No wonder my Vita memory card hasn't arrived yet. Finally the tracking has been updated and it's in the wrong country :(

I'm leaving for China (and then Japan) in a few hours. Not sure how great the internet will be, but I probably won't be very active here either way. Just a heads-up for anyone who cares. :)

I've been saving up money for my trip for a while. Whatever I don't spend in Japan, I'll probably spend when I return. Still trying to decide whether I want to buy a lime-green Vita Slim or a US 3DS XL...

Map completion does carry over in NG+

Looking for a recommendation vita-gaf! Recently picked up danganronpa and got a $40 psn card. Bought walking dead season 2 and now have $20 dollars left.

Recently beat p4g (loved it), so was thinking about getting persona 3 portable. I've also been interested in mgs 3 hd as I've always wanted to get into that series (played peace walker) and understand the story. One other game I'm thinking about is child of light, looks really good, but doesn't seem like it's a long game to cover the rest of my summer break.

So vita-gaf, what's your opinion on these games?

Buying a Japanese 3DS as your only 3DS is a really bad idea unless you are really ok with being only able to play Japanese region games.

A fancy limited edition design is not worth it.

japanese ninty 3ds games (based on my experience of DS games) are usually light on the language, easier to read and play than games like soul sacrifice delta

Child of Light is great, but I finished it in two days. Get Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time. It's an Atlus PSP game on sale for $5.

For Persona 3 Portable, considering you came off of loving Persona 4 Golden, you will have a blast with P3P :D. The game is very similar to Persona 4 on a core gameplay and design level (meaning you have turn-based battles, explore a dungeon, have S. Links in place, have story with dark/important themes, lovable cast of characters, ect) plus it has a really great story :). As I loved this, I whole heartedly recommend this (and I just got/beat Persona 4 Golden a month before getting this) :D.

MGS3 HD on Vita is a good game :). While I played very, very little of it (not a huge MGS fan sadly :(; only got the Vita collection due to it being only 14 something bucks for both games), the game runs very well on Vita, has very crisp visuals, the controls feel solid and the gameplay is classic MGS (meaning, if you enjoyed MGS 1 and/or 2, you should like this as well :D). You said you played Peace Walker, so the controls in MGS3 Vita might take a bit to get used to, but I think you might like it :).

With Child of Light, I've heard nothing but praise for that game :D. It runs great on Vita (60FPS with Native Resoulton), plays just like the PS3/PS4 version(s), looks to have a solid story and like Rayman, the art here is breathtaking. You will really enjoy this one if you love RPG games :D.

Uh no, there is a lot more to the 3DS library than just text-light first party games. Unless you are proficient at reading Japanese you're going to be missing out on a lot of stuff.

Not to mention shooting yourself in the foot regarding prices, and having to import everything if you don't want digital.

.
is there even a 3rd party game worth getting that is out in english and has heavy text in japanese?

Finally beat Hyper Dimension Neptunia Producing perfection. Beaten being getting all good endings. Since I have no drive to even bother with getting True for anyone even if I have all their affection maxed.

Game was a absolute bore and chore. Blame myself for thinking we were finally getting something akin to idol master. Though this is the farthest thing from it. All of the dialog while the VAs did good work isn't worth pressing the same jobs on a day, and performing terrible dance sections where wagging the camera and activating a stage effect at the right time is all you need.

Definitely not worth the 40 retail whatever it is on psn. If you gave already been waiting on it you're better off waiting until this hits the 15 price. Especially since getting the good or true ends doesn't take long at all. Plus not a lot of meat here to justify a price more than that.

TLDR: HDNPP is neither a good VN due to all the management that adds nothing to that expierence. Nor a good Diva game since its so light on features and the main gameplay element is boring and broken.

Woah. I was just thinking the other day... "I wish there was a monthly PlayStation thread just like the steam thread." AND THIS IS THAT THREAD.

I can't believe I never noticed it before. Subbed.

I still haven't opened my LE copy, but I'm planning to soon. Would you say it's worth it for Neptunia fans?

Trying out my new phone like the Virgin Mobile Android peasant I am, and I really like it so far, but then I walk in here and realize Suppa is unbanned already and drop the thing on the floor

This was actually my first neptunia game and I still plan to get rebirth when it comes out in August.

I would say that if you're a huge fan of the series it might be worth it since the characters were a lot of fun when I was actually given the chance of interacting with them. Though if the Nis LE is already sold out on the store you might be better off getting a cheap digital copy in the future if you really want to play it. That way you can keep the value on that high if you ever need to sell it for whatever reason.

Also the game isn't canon at all in case someone still didn't know.

Cool. Guess I'll keep my LE sealed. Was thinking of just getting a digital copy anyway.

I feel sorry for you. PP is meant for Neptunia hardcore fans, the least recommended for newcomers.

Figured this was the case.

Yeah I figured as much. I really liked the characters and everything else. If anything PP just made me crave a real Neptunia game.
Though I still say my complaints stand since it lacks at both types of games it tries to be. Which is still pretty unforgivable no matter what kind of fan personally.

The first game is heavily criticized for its gameplay, but the writing is hilarious. I think if you like the characters and dialogue then you'll really enjoy Re;Birth1, especially since the combat is supposedly* fixed.

*I actually preferred the combat in the first game to that of Mk2. Haven't played Victory yet.

Might've done the trick then, you should love ReBirth.

Yep I'm looking forward to Rebirth. Think it'll be a fun time.
