Destiny: Only one area per planet

I'd say what created the tone for this thread was the hype for the game and now the disappointment. What exactly is wrong with using this thread to also complain about things that disappointed you about the game? The main focus still is how small the game is vs expectations and desires.

I thought there was another thread about that, the one titled 'Destiny: Help me understand' or something like that. Plus it was one thing if it was around general disappointments instead of 'Dig in every vid/article to find anything that may possibly be incriminating'.

Like look at the TLOU: Remastered thread. Shadow quality is down from somewhat noticeable to bare noticeable when looking for it specifically when you switch the game between 30 fps to 60fps, but is now turning into 'look how a shit port this is' thread. Over slight shadow differences that probably aren't noticeable when the game is in motion. There's quite a few level headed folks there, but it's that particular group that's running the tone of the discussion.

Whatever though, it's how GAF operates as I said before, and there's no problem with a negatively-toned thread. Just wanted to head off the guy from trying to turn this into thread wars.

what areas do you mean?
i think on old russia there wasnt any invisible wall or anything that blocked your way to proceed into further areas
and the lv??/lv20 areas can easily be expored with a sparrow, they are fairly small actually

Jovian Complex, King’s Watch, Seraphim Vault / Bunker RAS-3 These where hidden behind closed doors (and are not vast open areas you can ride trough with your sparrow)

I dunno, it seems unfair to make a call on that with content that's limited to level 8 characters, especially when your point of comparison is the definitive end game for another title.

Oh absolutely true.

I could be really off and a level 20 fully maxed out hunter could be very different from a titan.

But it does seem to this point that all of the differences are *offensive* powers. I'm hoping for something unique to pop up later on. If everyone is simply a different style of offensive powerhouse it'll be a bit disapointing.

Leveling up in the real game will actually be 8 times slower. That way, the game will feel artificially longer thus justifying your 60 bucks!

So an explore mode in a tiny world that has basically no content and strike missions that give the most loot and gear. I knew grinding story missions was going to be the main ordeal of this game outside pvp. This game is going to take less then a day to beat

The subclasses add a bit more unique stuff. Titan's super becomes a bubble shield for the team and Warlock's becomes a healing/revive/buff power.

One other thing I want to throw out there:

The classes here are super disapointing. PSO had a much better experience because you had to work together. You needed a healer, you needed a tank, you needed a couple of guys who could wreck shop and kill the fuck out of everything.

Certain weapons for certain classes.

I honestly feel that both PSO and Borderlands did a better job here. Especially PSO.

With Destiny I feel like everyone is run shooty and you pick a gun for your playstyle and then ever 3 minutes you get a different special power.

Not super conducive to creating a social experience.

Ultra Dark Falz required one really fucking awesome healer running around reviving the fuck out of people, healing everyone between passes and someone to not die during one shot kills to bring the team back from the brink.

Not really getting that vibe here at all. Maybe that is late game stuff, but I felt like I was lobbing shots at pretty easy to avoid bullet sponges until they dropped.

Well the extra subclasses seem to be more defensive/healer types. The locked titan subclass has defensive options for your whole team, and if i remember correctly the warlock has some healer properties.

The Warlock class' subclasses offer healing and the class in general is supposed to have a regeneration focus.

The GAF mood for this game has certainly went a full 180 since the alpha release, I think I'll hold off for a cheaper price as well

After playing the Beta I have absolutely no reservations with my preorder. I would like to see some minor tweaks and better shadows for the PS4 version, that's about it. I sunk days into that without even playing too much multiplayer. This game will have FAR more bang for the buck than the vast majority of the games I have purchased for new gen.

I don't get the outcry. People are expecting way too much.

I'd imagine we will see a trend this generation of less content in the main game with more expansion packs planned for games.

Publishers aren't going to be happy unless they can make at least $100 from a decent portion of the people that buy their game.

I feel the same. Destiny is an FPS first and foremost.
FTFY
Everyone has opinions though

You monster

I feel like this is going to be a recurring trend this whole entire generation.

Even though my time with the destiny beta was incredible I can't in good faith put down money on a deception like this. I expected millions (maybe billions) of miles of terrain and recreations of every single major landmass on earth as well as 1:1 recreations of our solar system. What I am getting is table scraps that will not satiate my hardcore gaming thirst. Will maybe buy for $5 at the bargain bin....but I have just cancelled my preorder.

Your right, pre-order canceled.

It is not a problem. Gunplay is very good in Destiny. They do not expect you to play full support or full tank in Destiny and it will never happen.

Most of FPS games have only 10-15 hours for story mode. I do not know why people expect more from Destiny.

You have story mode, explore mode, pvp and raid in Destiny and I do not think that story mode will be shorter than 10 hours.

Do you people expect Guldwars 2 lv of content ?

That's what I am worried about, I am hoping for a good, long-ish story.

Some of the missions, especially the moon one, were pretty short.

I enjoyed my time with the alpha and beta, I just hope the feeling I am getting about the longevity of the story is wrong.

So for me to get my inter-planetary travel fix, I have to go to Elite:Dangerous, No Man's Sky and Star Citizen.. Thought as much...

Ah well. I'm keeping the pre-order. The shooty shooty bang bang is too much fun in Destiny.

You can actually read the subclass skills in the beta. The Warlock and titan ones are much more defensive buff based it seems.

This is literally the most encouraging thing I've read.

Now my hope for people running around looking for warlocks and titans in the tower to team up with is getting high.

I remember the days:

"Hey can I join up?"
"Fuck your Hucast, we need a FoNewm for dark falls"
:Robot cries in corner:

I do wish there was a healer class or that certain weapons were class restricted.

I feel like people invested in the game will enjoy replaying the missions but others will blow through it in a weekend and complain about the length.

You played that much because you couldn't go any further. If Venus opened up after Earth you would have gone there.

Actually the places which were shut now are probably going to open up for later missions. That's why there's some lvl20 mobs on Earth.

And yeah, like in every MMO(-esque) game: you'll grind levels fast, then hit end-game. But it seems like you can change the difficulty level of the past missions, so there's replayability in those as well.

I just want to say that if you enjoyed beta, I have no doubt that you wouldn't enjoy the full game. You play for the end-game anyway. :)

Seriously. I canceled mine too, but I work at Gamestop and I've also begun to cancel customer preorders. For the greater good. Can't let them unknowingly support Bungie such a bad developer.

The PvP is awful. Hit registration feels weird, supers are imbalanced and annoying, vehicles are annoying, double-melee is back, general imbalance, bad maps, bad announcer, unpredictability, etc.

Ugh. Please.

I dont see why expecting Guild Wars level of content in a FPS is expecting too much. The thing the problem is, we have so many good loot based games already, not that our expectations are too high. IMO, in order for Destiny to get the level of popularity it wants or deserves, it needs to sell me on why it's better then all the other loot based games out there. So far, it being on the console and having halo gameplay is the games only selling points vs other loot based games, imo.

If it takes less than a day you are most definitley doing it wrong.

Going from story mission to story mission is doing to wrong? There is almost nothing fun to do in explore mode outside treasure farming. Random events don't pop often enough and the little quests you pick up are the most boring basic WoW style quests of kill fallen and collect there stuff that drops.

Story mode basically levels you each time as you move along. It also gives you the best chance of gear.

It's not hard to imagine a good amount of people beating this in a day.

Did you make it through the tunnels with the ultra high level enemies? The ones with just question marks above their heads? What's on the other side of those?

The area on the moon that was available to explore was absolutely massive and I wound up finding two paths that had enemies I couldn't get past and a locked door. That area is reasonably just as big as Truth and Reconciliation was in Halo:CE and no one was complaining then.

Hahahahaha. I hope you're not serious.

Oh dear you're serious.

You haven't seen anything beyond a brief glimpse at the moon. You have no idea what you're talking about yet. But that doesn't stop you from making crazy assertions. Also "beat the game" means you really don't get destiny anyways. Truly beating the game will take 100 hours or more I would guess.

The PvP is awful. Hit registration feels weird, supers are imbalanced and annoying, vehicles are annoying, double-melee is back, general imbalance, bad maps, bad announcer, unpredictability, etc.
I will give you the hit registration. It was much better in the Alpha/first day of the beta. Announcer too. Everything else can be solved with teamwork, something a lot of people playing with randoms don't have. This game is extremely balanced when you have two good teams going head to head. Some of the GAF teams were within 20 points at the end of matches when they fought each other. Your expierence and outlook on PVP depends highly on your skill and who you play with.

I haven't enjoyed PVE in the Alpha or the Beta. Everybody has opinions though.

I wonder how the end game will be.

The billion dollar question with any game like this (MMO, lite-online RPG, loot grind). And the question we won't have an answer to until 30 days after the game drops and only if a lot of people buy in hoping it's good so that there is enough of a community for it to flourish.

I think everyone is freaking out over nothing right now. We didn't even get the full area of Earth.. Who knows how big it really is. And I'm sure there's more missions and co-op missions that we haven't gotten on that map yet. We have no idea how this game is going to play out.

I had a blast on the Beta.. Pre-Order still locked in
